What might have been...

Been spending my time mostly on the Angel and Buffy boards, but it made me think of Firefly and what might have been. I was curious on what others felt for the following topics:

Assuming Firefly had continued for multiple seasons and the Serenity film had NOT occurred, ala Buffy or Angel what seasons would have the following likely occurred.

1) Hook up between Mal and Inara. End of first season? Mid 2nd? Some other time, never at all due to desire not to have a Moonlighting/Lois and Clark level flop?

2)If #1 happened, how many episodes until things went horribly bad? Given its a Whedon production, and how he seems to like screwing with people once they've made happy with each other...what would have happened to drive Inara off Serenity?

3)Kaylee and Simon. Essentially same question as #1 and #2.

4)Would someone from the main crew die before a new long-term cast member was introduced? If so, what season?

5)What season would we find out Preacher man was actually a former special ops solider/operative?

6)When would someone get pregnant? What dire consequences would that have?

7)What point would we get to see River manifest her slayer-like powers? 🙂

I don't know how much it answers the questions, but I think the general plot of Serenity (the film) would have played itself out by the end of Season 2 or so...that is, discovering River's purpose, the origin of the Reavers, and so on. I think there was always some kind of plan or idea or whatever to kill Wash relatively early on...but that's all hearsay. I don't think there's anything concrete about what would have been or where Serenity would've fit into the grand scheme of things because they want to leave things open for potential continuations, whether that be in television, film, novel, or comic book.
