What Moment/Scene "Hooked" You

I don't remember what I saw first in the show, but the movie is actually what hooked me...
and I feel it really really pales in comparison. But the concept of buffy as this kick ass, wise cracking, valley girl super hero had me from the get go.

I got into Angel first, and then moved on to Buffy.

In all honesty, the character of Wesley hooked me. He was a.) British and b.) totally in love with a girl who had no idea how he felt. (I got into it during season 3). I was totally in love with him and couldn't stop watching.

Yep, My aunt got me into Btvs. She was watching season 1, Teacher's Pet. It was the beginning of the episode and I was "hooked" from then. I remember asking her a bunch of questions like "what's going on" what's she doing" "who is that?" lol. So I made her start over from the first episode lol

It's funny because she was watching buffy way before me, and I know more about the show and episodes than her lol. she call's me all the time asking "what episode does tara first appear in?" because that's her favorite episode haha!

I was in 5th grade and hooked on buffy (and charmed) 😀

you were hooked that late? the Mystic disbelieves!

Fret not Sir, that was the very first scene I saw of Buffy. I was hooked instantly! 😛 That Summer, I saved up money from my babysitting job (I was an industrious little 10 year old) bought the VHS's once they came out. They were really expensive too IR£35, and that was when the boxsets for each season was halved! God, Joss Whedon has made a killing out of me!

I just have to give you VHS karma...

I'm relieved to hear that. :) and just for your info, Inca Mummy Girl was the very first ep I watched, so I, too was hooked on the first ep (though not scene) I saw. :D

So... you spent 70 friggin quid on one season of Buffy? Oh my lanta! You must have friggin babysit for the whole of Ireland!

They were £39.99 per each half season here. Slightly more expensive but I still have them

I spent 70 old Irish pounds on several seasons of Buffy! I can't remember how much they cost once the euro came in. But they were still insanely expensive. I still have them too, lol.

I looked after three kids who lived across the road from me, 3 times a week. And I only got a tenner a week! Of course, being ten at the time, I thought I was bloody loaded! I just saved and saved, it would take weeks to get it all together. But back then it took years for the boxsets to come out anyway, so it worked out OK.

Over here "loaded" means rich.
I know what loaded means.. but what I cant understand, and this goes for both you and nightshade:

if you have a VCR with which to play your very expensive VHS tapes, why did you not just record the show in the first place?

I started buying them as Angel wasn't being shown on terrestrial tv here. It was only only way I could watch it. Then I bought Buffy as I had missed episodes and wanted to watch them all.

Consumerism! Seriously. The boxsets were so pretty and official and I HAD TO HAVE THEM!

And I did tape every epsiode as it aired. Angel too. Once I got the boxsets I would tape over them.

I clearly remember the day I got hooked on Buffy, I had come home from school and had gotten changed etc and was then rushing about the house for some reason and my mum was sat in the living room watching tv, when I rushed passed the living room, my mum shouted me in, saying something like, Ooooo come and look at this!!, I walked in and on the tv the Buffy theme song was playing, (I'm pretty sure it was the first ever episode) at first I remember thinking what the hell is my mother watching?? and why would I be interested?? I actually think I pulled a face too! lol but then I came in and sat down and BOOM, hooked!! LOL Now my mum doesn't like the series, she thought the first season was funny and daft but then it turned a bit more dramatic and risque, so she went off it, as she's quite religious, which is another reason why I was surprised she was watching it and wanted me too!! lol Weird lol 😀

Prophecy Girl. The look on Buffy's face just got to me. And things really got good after the G/J kiss in The Dark Age! 😀

In fact I hooked with season 8. I saw the comics and just thougd mhmm not bad. Let's buy first season. THen I keep watchin and become a real Buffy depent.

Well I kinda spent a whole bunch of money (by broke standards) on the complete boxset and so I had to watch it and get hooked haha...though to be honest I was grinning like a complete fool from the very first episode, loved it all, knew I hit the jackpot hehe!

The fight scene in the cementary in "Welcome To The Hellmouth". And then as soon as i saw "To Be Continued" my mind instantly wanted more. And more. And more.....

I bought the season 1 DVD, saw the pilot, and was pretty much hooked.

If I would pick one particular scene I would say the scene in the Bronze with Buffy and Giles on the balcony. Giles tells Buffy she should be able to sense any vampire in the building and Buffy does it in her own way.
Always loved that scene, definitely made me think that this show will be fun.

Giles: The point is, a Slayer should be able to see them anyway. Without looking, without thinking. Can you tell me if there's a vampire in this building?
Buffy: Maybe...
Giles: You should know. Even through this mass and this... din, you should be able to sense them. Well, try! Reach out with your mind. (Buffy looks around) You have to hone your senses, focus until the energy washes over you, until you, you feel every particle of-of--
Buffy: There's one.
Giles: W-where?
Buffy: Right there, talking to that girl.
Giles: You don't know--
Buffy: Oh, please! Look at his jacket. He's got the sleeves rolled up, and the shirt! Deal with that outfit for a moment.
Giles: It's dated?
Buffy: It's carbon dated. Trust me, only someone living underground for ten years would think that was still the look.
Giles: But you didn't... hone.

Brilliant, especially Giles last comment. 🙂
