but i was wondering, which bit made you saddest. like, the death was obviously super teary for some and shiver making for others.

but i think one of my saddest parts was during this conversation

Buffy: The spirit guide told me, that death is my gift. I guess that means a Slayer really is just a killer after all.
Giles: I think you're wrong about that.
Buffy: It doesn't matter. If Dawn dies, I'm done with it. I'm quitting.

Buffy: "You try and hurt her, and you know I'll stop you,"
Giles: "I know,"

it just makes me so sad. i know buffy has to protect dawn and i know that giles understands but yeah it just upsets me.

my saddest part had to be not the episode of joyces death but the one where her funeral takes place. its soo ad seeing two young girls have to bury their mother and buffy having to get on with life and sort it all out and push her grief aside.

- When Spike cried for Buffy in "The gift"
- "I don't understand how this all happens. How we go through this. I mean, I knew her, and then she's- There's just a body, and I don't understand why she just can't get back in it and not be dead anymore. It's stupid. It's mortal and stupid. And-and Xander's crying and not talking, and-and I was having fruit punch, and I thought, well, Joyce will never have any more fruit punch ever, and she'll never have eggs, or yawn or brush her hair, not ever, and no one will explain to me why." - Anya. That was so sad 🙁
- "I have to do these things, 'cause when I stop, she's really gone." -Buffy in forever 🙁
- "The hardest thing in the world is to live in it." when Buffy's dead you see Dawn and you hear Buffy's voice. I always thought that was pretty sad too

The line in the Gift. "Tell Giles I... tell Giles I figured it out, and I'm o.k." Then the camera pulls back and we see they're all looking at Buffy's lifeless body. It makes me really sad to hear he say she's alright, and then to see her dead, a few seconds later. 🙁

"The Body" for me, honestly. I was crying throughout the whole thing, tbh. Especially the Buffy act, where she had no idea what to do and she screamed and Giles. Man, SMG's acting is so good. Also, when Buffy just told Dawn what happened, and you couldn't hear, and you just saw her collapse. That was SO sad.

The other thing is obviously the end montage of "The Gift", I was very sad during that. Yeah, that line said in the post above me got me the most, I think.

Obviously when Joyce died and then watching Spike cry when Buffy died. :[
But the part that I really cried at was listening to everything Buffy told Dawn before she died.

I think there are many really sad parts in this season. But on my opnion Joyce's death was the saddest and I just had to cry and cry and the next days I always had to think about this part.... and I was so sorry for Buffy, Dwan and naturally also Joycs

Tara as it was like ironic.. no it wasnt... erm it was a slap in the chops as its like "they are happy tra la la" and then boom or shoot (think old batman) and then taras dead...

YOU CANT BE HAPPY IN SUNNYDALE

thats what it felt like to me

not that Joyce's death isnt sad, but that was natural and we were being prepared for the possibility of it.

you know Tara died in s6, right? ^^
I watched Forever a couple of days ago and I found the end of that episode more sad than anything in the Body actually.

Buffy: And I'm trying. Dawn, I am, I am really trying to take care of things, but I don't even know what I'm doing. Mom always knew.
Dawn: Nobody's asking you to be Mom.
Buffy: Well, who's gonna be if I'm not? Huh, Dawn? Have you even thought about that? Who's gonna make things better? Who's gonna take care of us?
Dawn: Buffy...
Buffy: I didn't mean to push you away, I didn't. I just, I couldn't let you see me. I don't know what we're gonna do. I'm scared.

Joyce's death and funeral was the saddest IMO. For the reasons previously said; Buffy trying to cope, Dawn feeling isolated. It had a ripple effect on the rest of the characters, even someone like Anya, who we never really saw interact with Joyce.
Buffy's talk with Giles in the gift was also very sad:
I sacrificed Angel to save the world. I loved him so much. But I knew what was right. I don't have that anymore. I don't understand. I don't know how to live in this world if these are the choices. If everything just gets stripped away. I don't see the point. I just wish that... I just wish my mom was here.

"Dawn listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will always love you."

That moment right there. Dawn knows that she's not technically "real", that her entire history is fabricated, but her sister loves her regardless and is willing to sacrifice herself for her. So that she can live... so that she can live. Still gives me goosebumps whenever I listen to the soundclip and Sacrifice by Christophe Beck.

Definitely the reaction os the Scoobies, but most of all Spike, upon seeing Buffy's body. What she said to Dawn was sad but a bit too snetimental. But them grieving, and Spike going all Palestinian women whose husband and children just died, that was so raw and emotional. I almost cried.

My favorite episodes of the entire series are "The Body" and "Forever". And the actors got everything down so well.

I just watched these episodes over Christmas Break, and it was especially hard to watch them because my grandfather, the most father-like figure I have, passed away the day after my birthday (October 2), and all those emotions I had just came flooding back, and I truly knew what Buffy was going through. Except for the whole having to plan the funeral part..

Probably the funeral episode and/or when Buffy's talking to Dawn right before she jumps. Dawn pleading with her, and Buffy saying it'll be okay... I cried for Dawn, especially... first she lost her mom, now her sister... and so soon after finding out she wasn't "real" in the sense that she was a Key to open a portal. I mean, c'mon. That's gotta suck.

Buffy's death. As soon as she started running I was crying and by the time you see the grief on everyone's faces it really hits you hard.

Buffy's death did have me crying. More notably when Willow and Tara were crying (sucker for Tillow lol). Joyce's death was just a shock. I found many scenes sad in Season 5 hence it being my favourite Season. When Tara got her brain sucked I teared up, shocked and very angry. There are also lots of lines in Season 5. Too many to recall.

How about the scene when Willow says to Anya in Weight Of The World 'Wish me luck'. The score after that when Willow and Buffy are in the bedroom is really touching. And at the end when Buffy wakes up.
