I start this thread because I played and finished another Silent Hill video game and I thought to myself they should have made this a television show instead of movies (they were very bad for the most part, especially the second one). I like deep, involved, evolving psychological horror games like the Silent Hill games, and I think a show that kept true to the spirit of those games (especially the early ones) would be great. You could really use the format of a television series to build the tension, fear and despair of a show like that over a long period of time. And you could bring people in and out of silent hill, as some are brought in and some find an escape, all alongside interesting, eccentric, half-crazy natives to the place (and people who have been there so long they can't hardly remember the real world anymore). The possibilities seem endless if it was done right. I guess the bottom line is that I always thought the world of silent hill would have been better as a television show rather than a movie(s). And it would be infinitely more interesting than the current "horror" offerings on television, and the over-saturation of the zombie theme, etc. I know a Silent Hill television show won't happen at this point, but anything inspired by the SH franchise or in the spirit of the franchise in some way, something simpatico, would be great for television and I hope something like that emerges at some point in the relative future.

Anyway, what would you want for a television show, or what are you hoping for? Any ideas that haven't been explored recently (or at all yet) that you would like to see tried again?

great question. let me think.
With the interest in superheroes being what it is nowadays, I've wondered how a "Doc Savage" series would have worked out, set in the '30's and '40's the way that the original stories were. Also, there was a movie called "Cast A Deadly Spell" several years back about a rather seedy but honest Private Detective that was basically "The Maltese Falcon" located in a parallel world where magic worked.

A series based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' "At The Earth's Core" would be good. Everybody loves dinosaurs, and the technology for the special effects should be affordable at this point for a TV show if used sparingly.

Either one of those would get my vote.

Interesting you brought up Silent Hill, I would love to see a TV shows based on those games. I actually really enjoyed the first movie, and even somewhat the second, but I wouldn't say no to a show. There's load of potential there, but I don' think it's mainstream enough to be sustainable. It would probably flunk no matter how great it might be.

Aside from that though, any horror type show gets my vote. It's a great and underrated genre of television.

The 1st one was alright, I did enjoy it some, but the 2nd had many problems. I'm difficult to please though.
