What replaced Buffy and Angel for you?

What's replaced Buffy and Angel? Nothing. The big "0". I pretty much stopped watching television after Angel got cancelled.

I personally see no point anymore in becoming interested in a show only to have it unjudiciously cancelled, and be left sitting there with nothing but a bevy of shyte "reality" shows that seem to spawn, and THRIVE, like roaches.

I especially stay away from FOX with there "no judge, no jury, no appeal, no parole" fashion of removing good and POTENTIALLY good shows from their lineups. I mean really, FOX's new shows have a life expectancy of ten minutes, and it's really gotten quite annoying.

I am in absolute and complete agreement with Old Master here. Nothing has replaced Buffy or Angel for me. I completely avoided new shows like Lost, Point Pleasant, Veronica Mars, for fear of them being cancelled on me like Tru was.

I started watching Charmed from S1, I'm at S4 now and frankly..just not very impressed. Don't really like it (or maybe I'm just comparing them to what I consider FAR superior shows in Buffy and Angel). Even last night...I saw the finale of S4, and Cole was saying "i'm a demon with a soul" well my hubby just ROLLED his eyes and said "rip-off much?"

I do watch Nip/Tuck (which thankfully has been renewed for 2 more seasons) and The Simpsons and Family Guy...and CSI (LV) but that's about it. I just am so petrified to get into another good show (not that there are many out there).

Jenny you should watch Desperate Housewives, its intended to run for seven seasons. Plus it rocks \m/

As far as my television viewing at the moment:

Nip/Tuck
Desperate Housewives
Veronica Mars (just started watching it)

And when they make their way to the UK:

Lost
Wonderfalls

Will also check out the shows from Buffy casts if they make their way here

MAH! I usually hate reality shows. Hate them with the fire of a thousand suns. They're not reality!! Sorry, don't want to start the "reality show" rant: But I am now completely obsessed with this ONE particular reality show and when it gets cancelled I'm going to FREAK. Cause it will. I LOVE Hell's Kitchen. Gordon Ramsey(spelling?) makes me hot. I'm obsessed, man! It's like my freaky James Marsters obsession from a few years ago (and that's never completely gone away). I suddenly want to buy his books and spend lots and lots of money at his restaurants!! So now my list of shows that have compiled into a weekly routine that only BARELY replaces my Tuesday-night joy goes like this:

Sunday: Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 8pm Desperate Housewives 9pm (ABC)
Monday: Hell's Kitchen 9pm (FOX)
Tuesday: There's Nothing on TV on Tuesday in the Summer.
Wednesday: Lost 10pm (ABC)
Thursday: the OC (yes, they're repeats that I've seen before but I DON'T CARE) (FOX)
Friday: There is NEVER anything good on TV on Friday.
Saturday: See above, re: Friday.

You should try the new one coming out from Fox tomorrow night Anchovy. It might help you fill your schedule. It's called The Inside. Lots of Buffyverse connections - writers, music, and a couple of actors. I hear there's some scenes that are pretty gross in a CSI kind of manner though.

Yep, I'm pretty stoked about the Inside!

LOL.. at xander...
The Inside is getting bad reviews.
Jenny, I think your "they'll be cancelled, so why bother" philosophy is misguided. Suppose you were watching Buffy during season 1 and decided to stop watching because it'd probably be cancelled. Not only would you miss watching the rest of season one, but all those other seasons because it happened to be renewed. Even if it did get cancelled, some episodes are better than none.
One show you should definitely check out is Veronica Mars. They're gonna start rerunning them June 14 at 9 pm on UPN.

Apparently I'm the only one on the face of the earth not watching it! That and Lost. Is it def going for seven seasons?

slayerpower - you are most certainly dead-on right about me and my attitude. For instance, last night I got ready to tune into The Inside. Well let me tell you when I saw which network it was airing on, (FOX!) I turned the TV off for the night. Sad but true. I guess I'm just so jaded that they've cancelled some really good shows...and I mean how are mediocre shows going to be given the chance to get good in todays volatile TV environment?

Veronica Mars just premiered here in Canada last week, I was SO tempted too....

oh, me and you both jenny.. i don't watch it either, my brother na d i saw 1 ep together(well we talked on the phone and sat at 2 differentv location watching it LOl, i didn't like it much.. its okay though... -_^
I'm actually with Jenny here, because I was so disappointed when Tru got cancelled, I couldn't bare the thought of watching my next favorite new show getting cancelled. But, I looked around it and watched Veronica Mars on the premiere and Lost halfway through. They both got renewed so, so far so good (*knock on wood*) but my next worry is that Veronica Mars is next to go. It's new timeslot is the same as Lost and American Idol and the ratings are already dwelling in the 2 million range. It's not looking good. I got hooked and it passed my Buffy obsession. It's a great show and if you're not watching, start! Us fans need more viewers. More viewers+good ratings= Rob Thomas happy and Upn thrilled...giving us at least 3 more seasons.

The producers are intending to do so, and with the HUGE ratings it has had (biggest ratings for the final episode of a new season since ER ten years ago, regluarly around 30m I think) it will last at least 5 years IMO.

To be honest, I'd almost be annoyed if Lost lasts that long. The premise is built to self destruct, and as imaginative as they've been so far about prolonging it, it'd kill me if they ever jumped the shark. Anchovy's right, Evangeline Lilly is terrific, even if she does bear a terrifying resemblance to Kate "Argh! Get out of the cinema while there's still time!" Beckinsale.

Nothing can really replace Buffy and Angel, I love all shows differently. 🙂

Some shows that I'm really enjoying now though are Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls, and Desperate Houswives. But my favorite has got to be Veronica Mars. It's definitely one of the best new shows I've seen in a long time. A lot of people compare it to Buffy, though, but I can't see the resemblance.

I don't think I'll ever be into anything like I'm into the Buffyverse, but I did start watching Alias again. I stopped for while, but it's good and I am glad I started watching it again. Also I started watching some new shows, Battlestar Galactica, and Stargate Atlantis. They both rock! BSG slightly more than Stargate.. BSG is amazing, and though I doubt I will be making BSG t-shirts, I think it will continue to be a favorite of mine as long as it's on the air. Also I watched Tru Calling, and Veronica Mars Last season. With those 2 gone, and the rest done for the season, right now I am watching reruns of LOST because I didn't watch it originally, and it's pretty good. That might be the only other thing I watch besides BSG and Alias next season..

Hmm well so many people are singing it's praises that I might be convinced to give it a watch then 😉

Well, I don't think anything can really replace Buffy/Angel for me, but I am an Alias and Charmed fanatic, so those two will suffice for now...and I guess Lost is a recent one for me too. I like them all!

Nothing has really replaced them for me. I have other favorite shows but most of them aren't on the air anymore. I was never into a show the way I was into Buffy though. I started watching it from the first season and grew up with it. I got the magazines, some merchandise, and couldn't wait till the next episode. I taped every episode and then also got all the dvds. I just can't get that involved in other tv shows that are on today. I also love Charmed but it's best seasons I think were its first three. I still enjoy watching it every week though. I watched Alias but I felt its best seasons were its first two and I quit watching it. Today I watch One Tree Hill and the OC but I'm not into them the way I was into Buffy. They're just fun to watch.

I'd definately hafta say nothing... But I did start watching Desperate Housewives this year... Only 'cause Eva Longoria is GORGEOUS... But yea... Still gotta stick by my BtVS and Angel 😉

Lost is seriously testing my patience re: the Fugitive's crime. Without wanting to spoil too much, can somebody who's seen later episodes tell me if we at least find out this season what the crime was?

I recall in one of the later episodes (one that I caught before starting to watch the re-runs) that you get to hear about it being described, to some of the airline people I believe. But they still haven't given it from the "˜fugitive's' point of view. And they are pretty vague about the circumstances, hinting that there may be more to it, but never explaining. And yeah I agree it's very annoying.. Is there a LOST thread here? If not someone should make one.
