Well first i begged my friend for months on end to let me borrow Buffy (which she did) and after become obsessed with it my parents bought me angel for x-mas. well last night i finished angel and i'm very proud (ok im easily amused) and i am know conning my rents into buying me buffy for my birthday because all my pay is going into my mother birthday prezzie so i cant buy it myself (ok you probably dont want to know that)

anyway now that im done i was debating about what to get/watch, next any sugestions? i was thinking doll house or firefly but im not really sure.

Definetly go for Firefly if you have seen Serenity and like it then, never seen True Blood though.
Both Dollhouse and Firefly aren't many episodes. At least not yet then it comes to Dollhouse so I'll say watch both. Begin with Firefly.

Firefly and Dollhouse are great shows but on a completely different level than Buffy and Angel. in my opinion. I never thought I would like Firefly but I was advised by many people on here to try it and ended up loving it so I would recommend it but also buy the movie 'Serenity' to watch once you finish the season. If you're looking for something a bit like Buffy and Angel, lots of people rate Supernatural, never watched it myself but you could see what it's like. Just as a wildcard because I love the show, 'The Shield' it's seventh and final season has just been released. It's a real gritty cop show based on a special task force that are corrupt, I love it just trying to increase it's fandom 😛

ive actually already seen Serenity and really liked it, i was told True Blood was good?
True Blood is amazing, as is the book series, which begins with "Dead Until Dark" by Charlaine Harris.

I'll second "The Shield," which was created by a former "Angel" writer. A lot of Buffy fans seem to like "Veronica Mars" as well. And "Supernatural" and "LOST" were in the lead for the non-Joss Whedon shows most popular with Buffy Boarders at my last count though I need to check again as I'm sure some more people have weighed in by now. Anyway, all of the shows I've mentioned are good in my opinion except for "Supernatural." And I'm not saying "Supernatural" is bad. I just haven't ever seen it and can't give an informed opinion about it.

I would recommend Veronica Mars. Its an amazing show (well, the first 2 seasons are amazing...3rd season not so good). If you enjoyed the girl power theme of Buffy, you'll like VM. Rather than beat up demons, she solves mysteries and out-thinks her enemies. Rather than a "monster of the week", they have a "mystery of the week" and there is also an season long mystery arc, and they constantly refer to past episodes for clues. The shows have quite a bit of similarities, in that they're both set in during high school/college years, with petite blond protagonists who take on "big bads" who have a good mix of angst and pep, and have boyfriend problems. Both Buffy and VM used to be popular, but find themselves outcasts.

Imo, its the most Buffy-like show I've seen, even without demons and vampires.

Watch Dr. Horrible, then watch Firefly, then watch Dr. Horrible again, then Serenity, then Dr. Horrible again (by now you will love it even more than you loved it the first time).

I completely agree with everything you just said. Well said.
Id agree with most people about Firefly,Dollhouse and Dr Horrible. Watch them there good not amazing in my eyes though. Oh and i would suggest you watvh Serenity after Firefly i loved it much more then the series. Another show id recommend is The Guild its awesome and online so its free to watch on the official site,or youtube. Plus each eps only like 10mins long. Its got felicia Day in it whose also in Dr Horrible and one of the potentials.

If you do watch Firefly, you should make sure you watch it in the correct order instead of the silliness Fox did.

  1. Serenity (the pilot episode, not the movie)
  2. The Train Job
  3. Bushwhacked
  4. Shinding
  5. Safe
  6. Our Mrs. Reynolds
  7. Jaynestown
  8. Out Of Gas
  9. Ariel
  10. War Stories
  11. Trash
  12. The Message
  13. Heart of Gold
  14. Objects in Space
  15. Serenity (the movie)

Oh and like others have said, Dollhouse is pretty good too so you should check it out also!

ok i now need to go DVD hunting to try and find all of them, this should keep be busy over the holidays
thanks everyone

If you haven't seen Angel, Firefly, or Dollhouse, I would say watch all of those. And then, Veronica Mars, Battlestar Galactica, Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies, Supernatural...

Also even though they're not on DVD try finding episodes of The Inside, Drive, Jake 2.0, Strange World, and other shows that were done by people connected to Joss's shows.

I also highly recommend Lost, Alias, Fringe, True Blood, and maybe even the new SyFy series Warehouse 13.
