If you like character driven and well written i would strongly suggest:
Stargate SG1 (very different from the stargate movie in case you did not like that)
Old Star Trek (before the paywall)
MASH. The series pathos, humour, characters
Criminal Minds. Well written. I love the characters. Even the 'victims' are 3D and some of rhe bad guys are fascinating. Reminds me a lot of Buffy in that way.
I am not a horror fan. I love Buffy and Angel because they are real, funny and subvert the 'rules'.
