What Sucks About Your Job?

Okay, maybe a few of you have great jobs that you absolutely love but I think most people aren't that lucky. So what don't you like about your job? This thread is for venting.

The owners of the restaurant I work at promote idiots (I've been promoted so I guess it helps at times too....). A guy who started working there about a month ago got promoted to one of the top-tier management positions in the restaurant (ahead of me....) with no prior experience in food service, and he's terrible both as a server and as a bartender. Why did he get promoted? Because he got drunk with the owner one night! I could have done that!
 
The Customers, the drunks, the old ladies with there Penny Purses, The screaming mothers, Self Scan, the managers, the bright blinding light, the lack of music,the uniform that rips, the smell , some of the stupid staff . I have to wear a name badge that says my name, when I started and where I work on it ! I don't want people Knowing my name they ain't my friends or family god damin.Asking people for ID, when things like Bleach or Fish oil burst all over me. Saying do you have a clubcard over a million times a year. x

Mainly Everything, the only thing I do like is when the shutters go down, somehow its Ironic that the sound of something Locking me in a place is really the sound of FREEDOM ! x
 
Well I temp, so my current contract sucks because there are days when all I do, is count test papers and put them into batches so they can be scanned by the machine...that I'm not sure why, but can't count or batch the damn things on their own.

And when I first started, I spent a week, flattening pieces of paper so that they could go through the scanner.

Oh yes...such a great and fantabulous job *rolls eyes*
 
My job, is like, SUCH a pain, I have to sit about all day drinking and smoking weed, life is so tough. I think I need a vacation.
 
I'm one of those rare people that actually doesn't hate their job. 😉 I mean I work in a paint store, it's not like it was my life's ambition to work in a paint store, but it's the best job I've had so far. 99% of the people we sell to is decorating businesses so no customers to deal with. And most of the paint is bought with credit accounts so no money to be dealing with either. It's a real relaxed atmosphere, very quiet (there's only 6 of us and we're never in at the same time) so a lot of my time is spent eating, playing with my phone, or sitting doing nothing.:tongue: My manager sometimes goes home early and me and the other girl will stay until 5, and it gets so quiet at that time that I have actually fell asleep...

The only thing I don't like is the incredibly overcomplicated computer system they have for booking out orders for delivery and everything else.
 
I hate the bullies, being bullied, fighting not to become a bully, watching management and supervisor's being bullied and not having the balls to lay a smack down on some childish, arrogant, rude, insensitive gobshite's. Oh i'm so happy there. 🙂
 
Um, everything? LOL No, seriously... I hate my current job because my boss sucks. If she is pissed, everyone will know it 'cause she talks to all the rest of us like we are dog shit. Also, I am a secretary, so I get stuck doing all the shitty jobs that no one else wants to do.

I know this is a thick question considering Ireland is in the midst of it's worst recession in 20 years and there isn't a job to be found but would you leave if it makes you that unhappy? Or is that a luxury you don't have?

Sadly, my plan was to leave it, and move away, but i can't risk loosing a steady weekly income. Work is impossible to find anywhere, due to the recession. So i'm gonna keep with it. I always thought happiness was more important than money, but you can't do much without money.

Tell me about...I'd hoped to get another job for this semester cuz one day a week just doesn't cut it but with Dell after pulling out of Limerick there literally isn't a job to be found. Dell alone is 2000 jobs gone plus all the smaller factories that worked out of it and the shops and cafes that had been set up around the Indsutrial Estate to cater to the staff. It's a huge blow for such a small city.
 
Well, I work at a large bakery packing bread at night. As jobs go it's pretty decent, except I spend 7½ hours walking or standing around (minus one 30-45 mins break) so I'm absolutely knackered when I get home! And though I don't really mind working nights, it does sort of complicate your social life when your sleeping pattern is 14-22...

Oh, and can I just vent about this one guy at work... on one of my first days (I've only just started) he was like 'do you wanna be friends?'. Completely nonplussed 'cause I don't think you can decide to be friends, I just said 'sure'. And now he's getting really clingy! I don't know if he's into me or what his deal is, but he's 15 years older than me, urgh. And it doesn't help that he's an immigrant and not that good at Danish so I don't understand half of what he's saying... Sucks, 'cause he's nice enough I guess - we've just got nothing in common the way I see it...

Oh, sorry for the rant. 😛
 
Right now what sucks about my job is how cold it is(especially in the mornings). Crappy cold weather in a large warehouse with a Diesel powered heater that doesn't work means we have to wear multiple layers of clothing and we're still freezing. I'm seriously thinking of investing in some thermal underwear.

Okay, I've avoided the rant threads thus far and was bent on doing so-- then you brought up gainful employment :silly:

Winter Job (Deli):
The hours SUCK! Working 5 or 6 days a week while doing co-op from 9am until 3:30pm just sucks. If it weren't for my spare period at school I'd go nutbar. I've been there three years and my "raise" was when I turned 18 and the cheap buggers HAD to pay me more by law, and it doesn't matter how sparking I make the place and how much I try and please these people-- zero feedback!! No good, no bad, nothing! I get as much "good job" as the folks who leave the place a pig-stye all night for the manager to clean up in the morning. The manager seems to be in denial of her position and can't understand why I can't come in to work when we're in a freezing rain storm!!!. No benefits for full-time workers, maximum of 20 hours a week for "full time" employees and 25-30 for part-timers who have to worry about school too. No room for job advancement. Ever. Not allowed to have a bottle of water anywhere down-stairs and I have to fight to even MAYBE get a break on a six hour shift. So quite often if I'm at school and in co-op until 3:30 (can't eat there), then hop on my bus and go straight from there to work for 5 or 6 hours without so much as a sip of water or chance to wolf down a bun for dinner. Even on weekends, I have to worry about getting written up if I take my full break. ARG!!!! [/angry pent-up vent]

Summer Job (Subway): :heart:
Days are nice and busy, work beside the owners-- not below them (they treat you with respect regardless of who you are, are endlessly conciderate about your well-being and enjoying your job, and provide helpful feedback almost every day). Great pay in comparison to most food service jobs. Great hours that are flexible if you need. An up-beat environment. Plenty of room to move up in the store if you want (and if a long-time employee gets tired of that, you can apply to Head Quarters). Awesome meal plan and garaunteed breaks. Wait, I'm supposed to be venting...

It's closed from November until May and no health benefits which I guess sucks. People who argue with you over the difference between "Italian" bread and "Italian Herbs and Cheese" bread among other things (Subway seems to bring out the worst in some people?). Our uniforms are all black, which is a downside for people like me with a lot of furry pets. And for someone who isn't quite at a time in her life for a "real job" career just yet, they make other customer service positions painfully dull in comparison 🙁


You know, I kinda feel better now! Sorry for the rant :blush:
 
Ugh. Well I work at Pizza Hut. 'Nuff said.

I miss my old job back home sort of...before I moved to Utah I was a valet and made at least 30 bucks in tips every day, some days up to 60 to 70 bucks, plus an hourly wage. AND I lived at home so didn't pay rent, so basically I could just buy whatever I wanted.

Now I'm living on my own (actually staying with friends until I can afford my own place) and have a minimum wage job. I just got my car back which was stolen, so I could be a delivery driver for Pizza Hut now, but my manager is being reluctant. (I think I need a GPS thing first anyway since I don't know the area).

I have to answer phones and take orders. That's usually OK but of course you get rude customers and I **HATE** it when someone calls and has absolutely no clue what they want. With those I can be on the phone for 15 minutes sometimes. And then there are the calls where they don't speak English. If you don't speak the language you could at least come in and order so it would be easier to know what you want.

Other than that, sometimes I do dishes...that's actually not bad at all...you just load up things on trays and slide them in the washer. It can even be fun, in a weird way. I also do frozen food prep.

Overall it's not that bad, but I do way too much for the amount of money I'm making.

I'm looking for a second job, hopefully I'll find one soon...
 
What really sucks about my job is all that secrecy and strict schedule thing about it - we have to come in fixed time, stay there whole 8 hours and leave at fixed time. Just like in prison. Though most of the time I'm just doing nothing for money. 🙂
*I'm English Edition editor of aircraft books and booklets, also translator, aslo do some "extracurricular" design.
 
Well it's not really a job because I also go to school and I am only 15 so there are not more options for working. But I do a paper round every wednesday in my whole village. And there are two bad things about it. The first thing is my village which is really big and all the houses are very far apart setteled. The second thing is that I almost get no money (4 Euro for the half village!!!)
Okay, it's not that I really need the money, but I think it's really important to know how it is to earn my own money
 
I worked as a maintenance electrician in a power plant, which meant that, primarily, I was on call 24/7, weekdays and weekends, and all holidays. If something broke down in the middle of the night, they wanted it fixed immediately at the very layest, and there was always someone breathing down your neck telling you that while you were trying to work.
