What Villain(s) Do You Sympathize With Most?

Which villains do you sympathize/root for/identify with?

Some of the villains are quite likable.

I don't know if I sympathize with her the most, but Lilah really sticks out to me. I know she's evil but I really kind of wonder what got her there and if she could've/would've redeemed herself given the chance. I enjoy watching her succeed at WR&H and love when she shoots Billy Blim. She seems to be completely alone in the world and yet she doesn't let Angel or WR&H stop her. (Again, I haven't forgotten she's evil).

I agree about Lilah
Spike. When I first saw him in season 2, he stole my heart. He's the first villain I ever really loved and identified with. The only one I've ever loved and identified with as soon as we see them.
 
The Master, he just wants to crush, kill and destroy... I'm sure he's all cuddly inside...

Not sure, I certainly feel for Lilah a lot! And if you count her as a villain - in season 3 of BTVS at least - I sympathize the most with Faith.

Yes. I think we all have a soft spot for the Master.
Lilah she is amazing and sometimes I don't think of her as a villain. Same could be said for Lindsay at times.

Now I sympathize with the villains more in general on any show really. I think the villains here and in other shows have the most layers so once you start seeing more and more of them it becomes easier to root for them. For example Lex Luthor in smallville I still don't know if I would call him a complete villain. I think there are reasons why he is the way he is.

On Buffy I sympathize with Faith in season three. Spike whenever he was the villain. Jonathon and Andrew in ways. Now on Angel I sympathize and don't really hate some of the villains well maybe Jasmine she was just annoying to me.

Lindsey- Somewhat of a villain...let's just say he ain't always on the good side.

Dark Willow- Bit obvious I suppose.
 
If you count Faith as a villain then clearly her. In my eyes though I can't see her as a villain.

Faith and Dark Willow. Faith because I don't really see her as a villian. I see her as a confussed and hurt teenage girl who just got mixed into some bad things.

I also sympathize for Kathryn Merteuil (Cruel Intentions), but alas she is not in the Whedon Verse.
 
Another one for Lilah Morgan here! 😀

I adore Lilah. I don't think that she's "evil" per the rules of the 'verse, since she's still a human with an intact soul. But she's still a really morally questionable person, she's VERY interesting (the backstory with her ill mother is amazing), and I just find her fascinating. I loved her relationship with Wes because it was so human of her. She's one of my favorite villains at Wolfram & Hart.
 
I think Faith. They really never were supposed to exist together and Faith made some bad choices, but she was in such a bad way when she came to Sunnydale, she felt like she never belonged. It's no surprising that she ended up doing what she did.
 
Probably Lindsey. I really like The Mayor but I can't sympathize with him considering he's ready to kill everyone in Sunnydale. Aside from that... Not many. 😛 I don't consider Faith a villain.
 
Lilah and Angelus are the two villains who I find myself sympathizing with the most.

Lilah was a very complex human and there was something about her that always made me root for her. I always liked her dedication and commitment to everything she did.

Angelus had such a dark and twisted story that I found his character fascinating.
 
The best thing about Joss is that he creates REALLY well done, complex villains that I almost always sympathize with, even if I don't want to.

Other than Spike (the obvious choice!) I sympathize with Glory, too. Though I don't even know why!
 
Faith. If you can consider her a villain. Because technically she did go to the dark side, working with the Mayor.

Angleus - he was given a soul which he never wanted, felt guilty for his actions which he clearly loved doing before. Then when he gets rid of the soul he has to fight the Slayer and someone is trying to give him back a soul - ending his fun again, only this time he'll know how bad it'll feel
 
Jasmine... if the best hope humanity ever had for world peace even counts as a villain. I'd have given up A LOT to live in the US of J, including most certainly the illusion of free will. (And I still haven't forgiven the Bad Hair Dude for messing it all up! Selfish git.)
