Question What was Kennedys purpose to the story?

If it wasn't for Kennedy uber-vamps would have overtaken Sunnydale.

Say what 😱Where did you get that from 😕
The TV show. S7 is when it happens. Willow would have been a broken little mouse if not for Kennedy. She could never have done the spell if not for Kennedy. Hell, she might not have even agreed to do it if not for Kennedy. And maybe if she DID agree to do it, maybe that was the moment all of her grief, rage and sadness manifests Warren, because Kennedy wasn't around to help her work through it prior to the spell. So, if not for Kennedy there probably would be no Slayer-making spell, thus the ubervamps overrun Sunnydale. Because Willow felt all 🙁 and stuff. But Kennedy made Willow feel all 🙂 and stuff.

That a lousy reason for Kennedy to be there. There is many other reasons for Willow to become happy & do that spell. Kennedy as a person had nothing to do with it .

That was the only reason Tara was there... to service the Willow storyline. Tara was just as pointless as Kennedy but you had more seasons of Tara to become familiar with her.

That is totally different . Tara was a lot better then Kennedy .
Possibly, but it was Kennedy who did it.
And anyone could have so that not a reason to have Kennedy there in the first place .

I liked Kennedy, as she helped to heal Willow. She gave Willow hope again and a reason to keep going (as a new love does). Yes it was different to Oz and to Tara but that's life. I personally speaking have not loved different people in the exact same way and have not been the same with each person I have loved (yes I have loved more than one person) as each person in this world is different and have their own personality strengths and weaknesses and opinions. So I think personally speaking, the writers wanted to show this and explore it. Having a strong reaction (love or hate) towards a character is not right or wrong in my opinion, it just shows how passionate you are for the show itself and the characters.

I think Kennedy was there to express change, passion, healing and strength. Willow needed change and hope. Kennedy for all her faults gave Willow this in my opinion.

Look at you, using smilies. Is this a Who are you? moment, body-swap style?

That said, good points about Kennedy's purpose. I suppose I have to give that character some credit after all.

No, I watched Scott Pilgrim for about the 50th time over the weekend... I guess I was still feelin the moment

The purpose of introducing Kennedy to the fray may well have been to placate those who were annoyed over what was percieved as the "dead lesbian"-trope, by showing - or rubbing in - Willow's gayness. I see that a lot of people thinks that it is unlikely that Willow would fall for someone so unlike Tara and Oz, but I don't really get that. Since when is a person required to fall for only one type?

Ok, ok, before you all hit the keyboard. I get that a lot of people just detest Kennedy, and therefore are itching to write that Willow could fall for every type exept a bratty, dominant, spoilt young woman high on herself and her powers. That's fine. But you see, I quite like Kennedy. I think she's fun.

I for one don't like Kennedy . But since you said she had her bad side as well as a good side I agree with you on what you said .

I always thought they added Kennedy because Willow needed someone trust worthy when she was doing her spell in Chosen. Like she said, she was her anchor and was there in case Willow turned evil. But really, it could have been any other character that had a meaningful relationship with Willoe. Actually, Xander would have been a better choice!

Xander was too busy pretending like he was being useful while Kennedy actually WAS being useful. Not only that but the moment was important for Kennedy's growth.

Willow needed someone to transport the scythe into the underground cavern and get it to Buffy and that would require someone strong, skilled and intrepid. That would be Kennedy. I have never had any trouble from brats who admitted they were brats. It's the ones who are brats but don't realize it that you can't deal with.

And didn't she even admit that she was in awe of Buffy, or words similar to that, when she handed the scythe over? I thought she made a comment about 'controlling the power' or something.

I don't see why myself they had Kennedy as the anchor . How could she not pick Xander who was her best friend from childhood .
Willow had only know Kennedy for a few months at most & not only that we don't even know her last name 😱
How does that make her more trustworthy 😕

How was Xander pretending to be useful & I thought myself it would have been nice myself to have Willow say she needed Xander help again.
After all he talked her down at the end of Season 6 so that would be him making sure she didn't go off again .

Kennedy didn't really grow in that moment. In my view, it was a case of once again she was leaving the other potentials to do the hard work whilst she sat back on her laurels. Yes, she EVENTUALLY joined the others in the hellmouth but only after the others had done most of the fighting. Shortly after she got there, Spike's amulet fired up and killed the rest of the uber-vamps so she wasn't exactly there long. She skived off going to the desert with the other potentials and she skived off fighting in the hellmouth.

Any of the other potentials could've been a delivery girl. It was a stupid plan to go into the hellmouth before Willow had activated the scythe. Had they waited, then there would've been no need to transport the scythe because Buffy could've taken it with her, but then Kennedy would've been forced to fight a lot more so no wonder she was fully supportive of the plan shown in the show. For all of Kennedy's preaching on wanting to be a slayer and what not, she sure likes to leave others to do that.

As for brats admitting to being brats, I'd say they're worse than brats who don't realise they're brats. Brats who don't realise they're brats lack the self awareness to realise how bratty their behaviour is towards others but there is a chance that they might change once they realise how bratty they're behaviour is. Brats who admit they're brats recognise their bratty behaviour yet continue to be brats towards others. Kennedy falls into this category.

And didn't she even admit that she was in awe of Buffy, or words similar to that, when she handed the scythe over? I thought she made a comment about 'controlling the power' or something.

She also initiated the mutiny to get Buffy kicked out of her own house, all because she wanted a bigger say and Buffy wasn't letting her have it. She even admitted it to Faith "I thought things would be different with you in charge but you keep shutting me down".

I so agree with you . And let's not forget when they we yelling at Buffy & Willow was going to say something Kennedy stared Willow down. She acted like just because she had seduced her Willow had to be on her side .

And let's not forget Kennedy didn't even give her last name . It like she didn't want then to know her .
And since she said she was a brat you can't say she was shy.
