What was one relationship you wanted to see, but didn't happen?

Spike and Fred. Man, what could have been...

I guess that's what fanfics are for...

Dawn and Connor
Dawn and Andrew
Giles and Joyce

Also, Illyria and Wesley for a while, but I've rethought it and decided against it because I don't think it would work romantically. The relationship between them that we already saw was interesting as it it.

Giles and Buffy! Yeah, subversion of traditional conventions, that was what BtVS was all about right? Fall in love with "daddy", why not?

Just kidding, please no flames! I'm in a strange mood today. No, I don't ship these two ever.

Seriously now, I've liked the idea of Dawn and Xander being together from the beginning. But I think that Dawn is still too young for that during Season 7. Maybe they could have suggested it (Dawn's crush on Xander reemerges) but I always felt Dawn and Xander could only work later in the comics. And I haven't read the comics, so maybe it's been done already! They'd make a cute couple for a lot of reasons.

Can't beleive I haven't commented on this thread! 🙂

Well, Buffy and Faith obviously- going by sheer chemistry they belong together more than some actual ships...
It's sort of subtext-y up until 'Bad Girls' then it just becomes obvious, at least from Faith's actions- right up until 'Enemies', sexual tension indeed.
And there's the fact that nobody understands a slayer like another slayer...🙂
I wish they'd address it in the comics, now that Buffy has had that fling with Satsu.

Giles/Anya- after Tabula Rasa I though, with the way they were acting, it was going to be a thing. I still think they were repressing like crazy the fact that they both liked that kiss!

Wes/Cordelia- not returning to their relationship exactly, but sometimes acknowledging the fact that they had a one time, real attraction for each other. Some mentions on Angel would've been nice.

Cordy/Doyle- Why did that sweet Irishman have to die. Cordy would've be so happy! 🙁

Gunn/Gwen- I just like these two, and they seemed to make each other happy.

Spike/Andrew- I think Spike needs to be in a realationship where he's loved unconditionally instead of pining for women who don't love him as much (and Angel of course 😉 .) And since Andrew worships him...

Oh so many possibilities.
Buffy and Faith of course, I really wish they had more scenes together in season 7.
Faith and anyone really could work.
Faith and Angel-I don't know if I want their characters together, but every time I see Eliza and David together they just look so sexy and match well.
Faith and Gunn- Could have had a really strong friendship, I think they got along well in the few scenes they had together.
Faith and Conner-
When he meets faith he is totally blown away by her. I think if they did get together, his innocence and her jadedness could really come together in a beautiful way and I think both would grow from the experience.
That's interesting. We kind of saw that with Connor's reaction to sleeping with Cordy, but I think it would have been hilarious, kind of like how Xander thought he and Faith had a connection, Connor would think the same thing and Faith would be like, 'not this shit again'. lol.

Faith and Spike-Such great chemistry in Dirty Girls. I think that they would have a lot in common.
Spike/Illyria-I thought Spike and Fred had good chemistry but I liked Fred and Wes, so when she dies, it would have been cool to see Illyria and Spike together although that might be hard for Wes to see.
Spike/Anya-I was sad that Spike kept shutting down Anya's sexual advances in season 7. The only parts I like in Where the Wild Things Are, is the Spike and Anya scenes. I think that with Anya being an ex demon they have something in common and I thought had good chemistry.

Xander and Cordy again- Their high school relationship was very much a high school relationship. They kind of get together because they like kissing each other, but Xander can't help but want every other girl, i.e Buffy, Willow, Faith. But I liked them as a couple and it would've been cool to see them reunite as adults. After everything they had been through I think they would relate more and have a more mature relationship. I kind of don't like that they never really mention Cordelia after season 3.

I've been convinced and sold on Willow/Faith so that. In Season Seven it just would have worked and made sense ten times more than Willow/Kennedy. Ew.
It's interesting because, Willow starts out liking Faith until Bad Girls then she hates her because of her jealousy with Buffy and what happened with Xander, but after the events at the end of season 6 and Willow trying to redeem herself, so to speak, when it comes to magic, I think she probably can relate more to Faith. I wish we would have got more scenes with them and discussing their characters redemption. It would definitely have been better than Kennedy.

Totally agree with all your Faith observations. Very well put.
Willow and Fred - get the two brainiac babblers together and nothing is impossible. I so prefer Fred to Kennedy!

Giles and Anya - I always wanted them to carry on their relationship after Tabual Rasa

Spike is the little black dress of fandom - he can go with anyone. I like Spike and Wes. Wes has that steel core that could keep Spike under control and Spike could lift Wes out of his moody moods. And I would pay to hear the dialogue! Spike and Giles are pretty much the same - there is fanfic out there that is wonderfully written. Of course this is AU when Buffy never comes back.

Spangel - of course. See - all the other are human so no matter what Spike and Angel will most likely be alive long after they are dead.

Eve and a regurgitating froloff demon.

Hamilton and a blue whale.

Gunn and Gwen

Groo and Harmony

anya/giles that was very entertaining in tabula rasa I was just pointing that out in the boring relationships section as an example of something the opposite of boring :D though I was happy for it to just be a one episode thing

Resurrecting a pretty old thread here, sorry 😀

Posting about my least favorite and favorite airings kinda got me thinking about some things that I wish I would've seen too, so I did some lurking and found a thread for just that!

Two things in particular, one more than the other:

Spike and Anya:
Most probably won't agree but I was always kind of intrigued at the idea of Spike and Anya. I think an opportunity was really missed here. Not anything huge, but some sort of something thing in s7. I loved their bonding in Entropy (and tbh the sex was hot 😛 ) and I really wish they would have continued to be in eachother's orbit. Not necessarily together, but maybe a close friendship or something. Both were reformed demons with major love issues that had fallen hard and had been burned badly. I think they really understood each other, as seen by their drunk conversation in Entropy and could have continued to have some sort of connection after that. Again, not together exactly, Spike loved Buffy and Anya loved Xander...but they could have had some sort of friendship/relationship. Always thought JM and EC had good chemistry and honestly it would have been nice to give Anya something more to do in s7, for more than just a funny punch line. No need for it to be a major screen hog or anything but maybe a scene or two. Always a guilty pleasure fantasy of mine 😀

On a much less intense note: Dawn and Andrew
Lord knows there was enough going on in s7 WITHOUT this so obviously again, nothing huge, but there were a couple times when they would interact and I was kinda like, hmmm...I wouldn't mind this at all. I think it'd be lighthearted and entertaining and I have no real reason that this would be something I would actually enjoy, I just always kinda had a feeling that it'd be cute and fun. Weird I know 😛

I liked Spike and Anya too!
Buffy and Faith. Just look back at Season 3 and tell me they weren't into each other.
More Fred/Wesley, Angel/Cordelia.

I may be out of line here, but am I the only one who thinks Faith and Xander would have been, um... interesting? After reading a fanfic where Xander manages to stop her from staking the Deputy Mayor I'm convinced that they could be healthy for one another.

Maybe. Except for a couple of things. Xander still had some major esteem issues when it come to romantic relationships at that time- it would take somebody like Anya to fix (unrequited lust for him coupled with a rather clingy relationship).
And for Faith the fact that Xander was a guy made it pretty near impossible for her to trust him, date him, open up to him etc- she'd had too many bad experiences with guys to just snap out of it.
Maybe if Xander had, miracles of miracles, turned Faith down in 'The Zeppo' and said he wanted to take things slow (or if had never happened in the first place and they'd gotten to know each other better naturally) Faith might've considered that he was more than just 'in it for the chase' or whatever. She might've seen him in a different light.

Possibly, but maybe with a little work that could also be their strength -- Xander the 'nice guy' makes Faith realize that men are more than just a quick lay, while Faith helps him build in confidence.

For me, the main one I always come back to is Giles and Joyce..... they were great together in Band Candy and I would've loved to see that explored more, especially as Joyce is Buffy's mother and Giles is her father-figure already. I just think that would have been so sweet, they could have got married on a whim, like young lovers eloping. Imagine Buffy's horror at her watcher becoming her step-father after a night of passion a la on the cop's car in Band Candy. Much hilarity would ensue.

They were similar in age and both single / unlucky in love. I love the idea of 'Joyles'!

On my rewatch of Buffy season 2, I wish they'd looked more into the Buffy/Xander relationship. I think they would have made a good match, he wasn't afraid to stand up to her and there was a lot of heat in their arguments.

It would have been nice to explore the Angel/Buffy/Xander love triangle.

Snyder and Joyce. There always seemed to be a lot of sexual tension hidden beneath the surface. Plus.. that would have been comic gold just to see SMG's facial expressions when she found out.

Pfft Buffy is way out of his league 😛

True lol but Xander has grown a lot from the boy he was in season 1 were he was just following her around. I'm just watching Killed By Death and the scene were he stands up to Angel, in my opinion, was really good.

I'm growing too fond of Buffy/Xander as a romantic relationship, but I'd love to see it from S7 and beyond when both have matured and changed.

Apparently both SMG & Nicholas Brendon put the idea forward for Buffy/Xander but producers nixed it for the continuation of the Spuffy relationship. I think towards the end that Xander did take a quasi-co-parenting role with Buffy, driving Dawn to school etc, but I still don't like the idea of Buffy & Xander as anything more than friends.

Season 7 Buffy and Xander would have been a perfect couple. They really seemed natural together.
