What Was she REALLY Crying For?

In the episode where Giles calls Buffy's house to tell her that Angel killed Jenny, do you think Buffy was crying for Jenny or that the fact that Angel was so far gone?

Popped in my head today when I was thinking about a classmate's friend's dad who died last night.

I picked Angel but I think it was a combination of both and the realisation that they were now at the piont of no return. She couldn't hope to save Angel anymore, which I think she had been clinging to for dear life.

I chose Jenny's death. I think that it was a mixture of a lot of things though. Angel being bad, her own guilt for 1) causing him to lose his soul, 2) not killing him when she had the chance, 3) her attitude towards Jenny during the time leading up to her death, 4) the tragedy of Jenny's death and 5) Giles' loss.

I voted for Jenny's death. As much as she knew what would have to happen to angel, i think she really cared for her,and Giles.
 
I agree with Keanoite. I think it was a mix of both and probably had a lot to do with just how bad the situation was at that point.

I didn't vote, though, because there was no "both" option. On second thought, I think I'll choose the stomach ache option. lol.
 
I voted Jenny dying, but I think it may have been a little both.
 
Really hard, cause a little of both. But, I put Angel's Bein' Bad because, imo, I don't think she was really sad because Jenny died, but because Giles loved Jenny, and she died. But, also, I think, at that moment, she realized she had to kill the man she loved.
 
Yeah. I agree with all those who say it's a combination of many things: grief, guilt, seeing people she loved hurt and someone she loved doing the hurting.
 
I think it was a mixture of eveything- in that one phone call she'd lost so much. She was crying because had lost a friend (because fall-out and blaming her for Angel's change aside, she was still a close friend), it was the love of her life who had done it, she could no longer hope to get Angel back, she was crying for Giles who had found *his* love dead in his own bed, and she was crying for herself because she felt she was to blame- she had caused Angel to change and she didn't kill him when she had the chance.
That's my little opinion anyway. I just think it's so heartbreaking that phone scene. Where Willow is stuttering in tears on the phone and we just see Buffy slide down to the floor in wide eyed broken shock, almost catatonic.

I think it had to do with Jenny's death. I do think she was upset about Angel but she had grown to know Jenny. Thus I think the tears would be about her.

Yes, but I don't think the fact that Jenny died, but the impact it would have on Giles. That's what I was thinking.

Because, you know she doesn't really like Jenny. I mean, Buffy's last words to her was screaming at her (I might've forgotten and am getting this confused) and in Innocence she wanted to almost kill her for hiding the curse and all. She was a liar and a cheat in Buffy's mind, a little.

I have to agree, I really don't think she was as emotionally affected by her death as she was by what it meant. As far as Buffy was concerned Jenny betrayed her and Angel.
 
But Jenny was human. In all of this it's Buffy's job to protect humans, innocent or not. She wasn't able to protect Jenny, someone Giles loved very much. I think she was sad for the loss.

I totally agree.
I don't think she was really crying over the fact that Jenny was gone.
But she felt for Giles. And she knew that things were never going to be the same, now that Jenny had been killed.
Her hopes for a happy ending were shattered in that moment.
 
I think it was the fact that she thought she was very close to losing Giles, he was going on a suicide mission, he had a little chance of surviving the fight in the "nest" (Angelus, Spike, Drusilla,...). Buffy fought for him as well, and when it was over, it was not about Jenny or Angel.
 
i always thought it was guilt for jenny's death. she caused angel to turn, she blamed herself, so she blamed the death on herself.
