What were the weirdest monsters/plots?

Not necessarily the ones that were scariest or the most intriguing. I'm talking about the ones that made you go "huh?" or "wtf" or even just pause the episode and stare at the screen and wonder why anyone would think this was a good idea.
I've been watching the show with a friend who's seeing it for the first time, and she could not get over the "communist demon fish jocks" or "Xander's pedophile demonic praying mantis love interest." What's the most ridiculous thing on the show for you?

Dracula. I was offended by that episode and I don't think I ever really looked at the series the same way after that. Honestly. And what Dracula didn't destroy Landshark finished off.

The fact that Mantis Lady ISN'T a demon- she just is a giant praying mantis. wtf show? Plus those eggs still bug me (hee!).
50's Ted who was SO smart he could build a life-like human robot that was decades ahead of its time and...he's got a job as a salesman.
Communist fish demons through science! was a huge joke.
Why would hundreds of years old interdimensional demon want to go to Sunnydale college?
The alchemist who developed the process to regress people into cavemen. WHY?? Why is this a good use of your time?

Olaf the Troll is a pretty stupid idea, but at least the episode gets that and embraces it. It's a comedy episode.
Amy suddenly ret-conned into being a magic- junkie. The fact that S3 Amy would've known Rack? Gimme a break.
The demon that could go liquid and jump into his own sword? That, doesn't make any sense. Also the fact that he seemed to be trapped there until Tara's spell accidentally released him. What a brilliant defensive strategy. Not.

The big one: Spike as The Doctor'. I get that Spike's still evil but this way of showing it made NO sense. How does he have the resources to be some sort of demonic arms dealer- he uses pay phones!! And dealer of any kind at this time would own at least cell phone, and Spike doesn't. *shakes head*

Why do Warren's orbs of Nessa-whatever give him amazing fighting ability along with strength and invulnerability? He seems to be able to outfight Buffy. I know Buffy isn't at her best but still, I'll bet Warren has never been in a fight that didn't, in some way, strongly resemble S4 Xander vs. Harmony.
Same with Dark Willow who's empowerment spell conveniently turns her into a fight expert.

Lastly the Gentlemen from 'Hush'.
Why did they want the hearts? Was it some kind of contest? A horrible conversation piece? We'll never know and that makes the Gentlemen all the more unnerving. I mean this is an example of GOOD nonsensical- alien and creepy and unknowable. The good kind of wierd/inexplicable. 🙂

I accept most demons on Buffy. They are mostly okay or at least funny.
My big exception is the loan shark. That was too silly even for BtVS which says a lot... lol.

The shark was brilliant. The "breathing with or without water" problem was already perfectly addressed by the First Evil trying to choke Spike in water and the fish demon in Flooded. So don't be harsh specifically on this one.😛

The Mantis Lady surely is a demon, otherwise she can't mimic a human shape. The eggs are not a big problem. Larva mantis escaped so what? A lot of vampires escaped from Buffy anyway. Angelus' hitmen, the Mayor's minions, patrolling leftovers... Poor Buffy can only do things within her capability. Even if she really eliminates Sunnydale's demons every day very cleanly, there are other towns she can't take care of.

Ted at least kept a job. Warren had none. Willow also knew how to program an intelligent Buffybot but she didn't make money from her skills either.

Maybe the fish demon steroids are in fact potions made by communist witches living in Russia. The government, like the Initiative, just can't understand it therefore pretended that it was science.

Some humans want to leave their lives in civilization and prefer living in the wild with exotic animals. Kathy is like them.

Because making cavemen drugs is a rather easy job for the alchemist? Maybe it only took 5 minutes of his time?

We know how because we are told- she emits pheremones- she doesn't actually change her appearance. And Giles never said anything about his friend tracking demons- and they fight quite a few demons in S1
His friend's theory was giant bugs.

Ted had 50 plus years to develop this incredible gift into some sort of money, instead he is still a salesman and keeps his dead wives in a creepy basement.

Warren used his tech genius to become a supervillain and rob banks. He didn't need a job because he got rich the easy way. That was his whole master plan- get rich.

Willow currently has a job as a computer programmer.

*facepalm* there is no suggestion by the PE TEACHER,who tells us the silly plot, that it anything to do with magic. He seems to have very specific infomation about defunct Soviet science. About how it works, about how to administer it to his boys, etc.
Maybe he was lying, maybe he was an evil alchemist mastermind masquerading as a high school gym coach.

If the writing sucks you can't make it better with a 'maybe this' because you're simply making it up. It is written inexplicably so it is inexplicable.

Maybe it did but its still pointless. It's almost as if somebody hired him to produce a moralizing lesson for a stupid episode of an otherwise brilliant television show...

Eh, possible I guess. I forget how badly Buffy hurt him. Couldn't he have just run off? If the choice is 'run off' or 'possibly be trapped in my own sword for all eternity' I would chance being faster than the girl with the short legs.

unfortunately, for me, Buffy has a bank vault full of weird monsters or plots that leave me asking my screen 'How would i have watched this entire series without season 3?' But off the top of my head:

PLOTS
- Spike's character development from evil souless vampire to good souless vampire.
- Although the Olaf episode gave me a good laugh, it did more damage than good for me. With Buffy being 'Thor' and being the only superhuman being that could lift Olaf's Mjolnir for some reason.
- Spike's 'Ka-me-ha-me-ha, iron man uni-beam, batman's utility belt, i win' amulet. I was laughing when i first witnessed Spike using the thing asking my screen 'What the actual **** was that?'
- (Although i don't have many nick picky complaints about the Angel series) the on screen fruition of the idea behind Jasmine, left me asking how she is supposed to be a main villain.
- How the Watcher's Council or any other governing body left Buffy to basically fend for herself. Granted, in the beginning i can somewhat understand the idea of 'No point in worrying about one girl when we have an endless supply of them to become Slayer.' However after meeting Buffy in person and noting her accomplishments i asked my screen how stupid the council could be.
- The biggy. How, what we are lead to believe to be a small town according to Cordelia in the first 1 or 2 episodes, could be completely oblivious to what was really going on in Sunnydale for years. Even though throughout the show's airing we keep seeing how big Sunnydale actually was.

MONSTERS
-Adam. I can completely get behind the idea of his character. However every time i see his Gatling gun arm transformation, i keep thinking of a Transformer pulling a scarface 'Ok, I'm reloaded!'
-Kathrine Madison (Amy Madison's mother). Left me asking how that woman wasn't the main season 1 villain instead of the Master. Kathrine looked unbeatable.
-Clem. What was that guy? What purpose did he serve? To me, Clem felt like creative had plans for him but then gave up.

That's all i could think of in a few minutes.

In my opinion Nathalie French aka the Praying Mantis teacher was pretty weird and there is no way they could have gotten away with this later in the series.
Also the Fish Boys, how come no one ever asked where these students disappeared to. Although, come to think of it thats a motif throughout the whole show so no worries.

Weirdest plot AND weirdest monster are - for me - the double meat palace monster plot from Season 6. I like it though.

Skin eating demon comes a close 2nd. The plot in that episode is kind of weird too and although I understand the concept, I find it hard to really believe. "Stand back. You're getting your feet in her"? Hmm. So if they hadn't moved before the spell ended, Willow would be suffering major injuries from feet penetrating her vital organs. Lucky they moved, I guess.
