What were you like in high school?

What was I like at school?

1/ What kind of crowd did you hang with?
Not the 'in crowd' as the in crowd were all skinheads.

2/ Were you the studious type or the slacker?
I wasn't much of a studious type and I refused to do any homework. As I often told the headmaster
if they didn't teach me at school I wasn't going to teach me at home. One reason for detention.

3/ Join any clubs?
None, unless you count Rugby Union or Cricket. PS the school was in the town of Rugby.

4/ Which teacher did you loath?
I didn't loath the teacher but I did loathe the subject he taught - Religious Education
that was another reason I got detention.

5/ Ever get detention?
Only on a school day, usually due to my attitude to Religious Education or church.
So two or three times a week but we had the choice of having a few strokes of the cane instead.

6/ Were you a frequent ditcher?
Only on Thursday afternoons in the fourth year and when we had to go to church.

7/ Your thoughts on cheerleaders.
I went to school in England, there wasn't any. I'd never heard of the word Cheerleaders

8/ What was your wardrobe like?
Boring to anyone who was not like me.

9/ Ever forge your parents name for anything?
Never.

10/ Can you remember your locker combination?
I never had one.

11/ How many times did you avoid gym class?
Never, I was good at sports.

12/ Favourite meal in the cafeteria?
None, they kept trying to give me greens

13/ Who was your big crush?
None, it was a boys school.

I will base this mainly on my senior years at high school as they were probably the most different to what anyone else has experienced. Early/junior high school was an inner city school which was another kettle of fish, Senior was boarding school.

1. What kind of crowd did you hang with?
There were not really enough people to form crowds. The girls huddled around the heater and the boys played soccer. Sometimes vice versa. The boarders all looked out for each other, other year groups did not really mingle.

2. Were you studious or a slacker?
Slacker in the study sense, but mostly made the grades.

3. Join any clubs?

School based - sports - netball, rowing, touch rugby, long distance running, gymnastics, pony club.
There were a few events through out the year but nothing that took significant time. I was a prefect and house captain so I had weekly meetings for fundraising and school activities.

4. Which teacher did you absolutely loathe with a passion?

None really.. The principal was a prick though.

5. Ever get detention?
I got an inhouse suspension on my second week of school :/ which wasnt too bad, because it wasnt just me who got it. Also a few saturday detentions, but mostly they were written off in exchange for child labour (weed pulling or cleaning jobs). Lunch time detention didnt really happen because most of us enjoyed eating lunch in the nice warm class rooms instead of being turfed out in the cold weather. It was appealing to us to stay in.

6. Were you a frequent ditcher?
Not at that school, it was difficult to go unnoticed as it was so small. There were times we would sneak out of the boarding house, but to miss a class was very obvious.

7. Your thoughts on cheerleaders?
Non existent. Thank Chuck.

8. What was your wardrobe like?
Black shoes, navy tights, tartan skirt, white shirt, tartan tie, green v neck jumper navy blazer, red scarf and navy rabbit fur hat. Stylish 😛 I didnt mind wearing a uniform at all. It was suitable for the weather and students got some minor variations and modifications allowed.

9. Ever forge your parents' signature on a report card, principal's note, etc?
Again, not in senior school. As a boarder your parents sign a thing that says you can pretty much do what ever school wise. And when it came to being allowed out, if we were trustworthy the boarding house parents had no issue letting us come and go. Ahhh, so many hangovers.

10. Can you remember your locker combination?
We didnt lock them.

11. How many times did you avoid gym class?

Never! It was my favourite class! The worst part was getting changed for "gym" It was most terrible at ages 12 - 16 obviously. But this is why I get annoyed at trans-people getting distressed in the change room - many teenagers get distressed in the change rooms. Muslims had annoying issues lining up for the 2 stalls at my school to use between 300 odd girls. But in the private school, our gym uniforms were more suitable and there were limited amount of girls in the change rooms at any one time. Boarders and lower school children were allowed to wear the gym uniform for the day.

12. Favourite meal in the cafeteria?
Bloody americans, Its not done here. I would like to learn about your school lunch system one day - I was re-watching buffy s1 and wondering why on earth they purchased such crap to eat! I didnt even know Kale existed in 1996.
My favourite "sneak" lunch to make was to steal a block of cheese and a loaf of bread from the boarding house kitchen and made cheese toasties for the class at lunch.

13. Who was your big crush?
I duno what you mean by crush, I got every man I ever wanted. The problem is trying to get rid of them when I no longer want them haha.

1. What kind of crowd did you hang with ?

Honestly I was a loner. I stayed in my corner, I was too shy to go to the others. After, I was sociable, when we came to talk to me, I was normal and friendly, but since I was not going to people, I did not integrate and I think people were not interested by me..

2. Were you studious or a slacker?

Studious.. I wasn't the first of my class but I had a good level.

3. Join any clubs?

No.. I didn't have that.

4. Which teacher did you absolutely loathe with a passion ?

I would not say hate but there was a teacher who exasperated me. It was an English teacher, she came all the time with 20 minutes late, but believe me when I tell you that it was all the courses like that..
Of course at the beginning I was happy but it quickly irritated me, especially when I had English from 8am to 9am in the morning.

5. Ever get detention?

Once I think, for ridiculous reason.. A duty that I hadn't give in time..

6. Were you a frequent ditcher?

No when I didn't go to school, I had always good reasons..

7. Your thoughts on cheerleaders?

We didn't that in France.. It's typical American I think..

8. What was your wardrobe like?

In America, you have a particular school costume, no ? In France, in my case, students can wear what they want
as long as it is not too vulgar or too remarkable

9. Ever forge your parents' signature on a report card, principal's note, etc?

Never !

10. Can you remember your locker combination?

We don't have that !

11. How many times did you avoid gym class?

For me, it's not only gym, I didn't love all sports at school.. First of all, when we did the teams, I was always the last chosen, I was bad so people weren't fighting to have me in their team.. Second of all, of course after the sport everyone changed clothes, but not me, I was too shy to show my body to the others , so I never did that ! but I disliked this moment.

12. Favourite meal in the cafeteria?

The desserts 😉

13. Who was your big crush?

I didn't have.

1. What kind of crowd did you hang with ?

The crowd who gave the popular kids a hard time, we felt so superior to them and were constantly very mean to them. Then I was hospitalized for about a year, upon returning I changed schools, ended up in an all-girls class and became an aggressive loner 😉 At the new school anyway, I just hung out with my old friends and more or less refused to associate with anyone in the new one, lol. Such a bitca.

2. Were you studious or a slacker?

Studious slacker. If there was a short cut I'd take it, but with my two best friends I did get to take over French class as a teacher whenever the teacher was away, so... studious.

3. Join any clubs?
I'm honestly not sure if we had clubs, we probably did. I was just too pre-occupied with my own stuff to think about it.

4. Which teacher did you absolutely loathe with a passion ?
The biology teacher who would ask you a question and if you got it wrong he would stare at you until you managed to guess yourself to the right answer, even if it took twenty minutes. Effective method though, NO ONE skipped out on the reading for his classes.

5. Ever get detention?
Yup, mostly for getting into fights

6. Were you a frequent ditcher?
Oh yeah, major ditcher. In my senior year I told my mentors that I honestly didn't mind doing the work, but that I just didn't like showing up for class. They kind of accepted that. I was pretty lucky to have them.

7. Your thoughts on cheerleaders?
Well, we didn't have real teams for the school or anything, but cheerleading as a sport started to become a thing when I was in high school. I guess that was kind of a club we had... anyway the drama kids joined it. They annoyed me before, and they annoyed me after.

8. What was your wardrobe like?
Started out as early season Buffy mixed with Sabrina the teenage witch, progressed into Faith/punk/goth/metal whatever. 😛

9. Ever forge your parents' signature on a report card, principal's note, etc?
Never had to, the teachers all knew I came from a crap home/was a foster kid so they never bothered giving me notes or permission slips at all.

10. Can you remember your locker combination?

Had a lock with a key.

11. How many times did you avoid gym class?

I got it written off my schedule entirely 😀

12. Favourite meal in the cafeteria?

Hamburgers. Oddly enough always served with mashed potatoes - cheaper than fries?

13. Who was your big crush?
Haha, some guy who kind of looked like Nick Lachey. He turned out to be the most boring person ever.

@Anyanka Bunny Killer : Lettered in Academics AND kept up a 3.5 GPA? Whoa. I dub thee Willow Rosenberg

Haha. No, I lettered in academics the last semester of my senior year. To qualify you have to have a 3.5gpa or higher. But I did have a 3.0gpa most of my high school years. Definitely not Willow level though. Lol.

Honestly I was a loner. I stayed in my corner, I was too shy to go to the others. After, I was sociable, when we came to talk to me, I was normal and friendly, but since I was not going to people, I did not integrate and I think people were not interested by me..
Don't worry, I spent 9th grade eating lunch by myself. I didn't make friends until 10th grade. I was so shy to talk to people.
In America, you have a particular school costume, no ? In France, in my case, students can wear what they want
as long as it is not too vulgar or too remarkable
No. Public schools you can wrest what you want as long as it is in regulation. Private schools are the ones that have uniforms. Although at my school, certain academies had to eat a uniform on Thursdays. The culinary arts students had to wear the chef uniform. I was in the public service academy and we had to wear an embroidered polo shirt with kaki pants.

1. What kind of crowd did you hang with?
The cool kids. We weren't popular or unpopular. We were just "chill"

2. Were you studious or a slacker?
Both- I did the bare minimal to get pretty much all As. I was in the top 5 at my school.

3. Join any clubs?
Oh yeah- Key Club (service) National Honors Society & Beta Club (both depended on grade point average), HOSA (health occupations students of America), National Technical Honors Society (had to take a trade/skills class.)

4. Which teacher did you absolutely loathe with a passion?
My gym teacher. She was such an awful woman.

5. Ever get detention?
A few times- always related to teachers not allowing me to go to the bathroom. I went anyways (if you gotta go you gotta go.)

6. Were you a frequent ditcher?
Each semester allotted 6 absences. I missed all 6.

7. Your thoughts on cheerleaders?
Elitist. They thought they were better than everyone else.

8. What was your wardrobe like?
Preppy- I loved dressing nice in high school. College was a different story (dressed much more comfortably because my days were so long.)

9. Ever forge your parents' signature on a report card, principal's note, etc?
ALL THE TIME!

10. Can you remember your locker combination?
I had a locker, but I didn't buy a lock for it, so I just carried all of my notebooks in my bookbag.

11. How many times did you avoid gym class?
As much as I could.

12. Favourite meal in the cafeteria?
Taco Salad. Our school lunches were really gross, but this one was the best choice.

13. Who was your big crush?
I dated most of the guys I had a crush on. I guess there was this one slacker smart guy I had a crush on and I'm pretty sure he liked me too, but we never dated again after middle school.

I'm still in high school, well actually it's called sixth form in England.

1. I don't really have a crowd just two close friends but I guess we're outcasts lol

2. I'm studious.

3. Is this an American thing? Because there aren't any clubs to join at my school lol.

4. I have a teacher who treats one pupil like her daughter and needless to say she gets the best grades....favouritism 😡

5. I've been in detention for not doing homework and for being late.

6. I wouldn't say I'm a frequent ditcher but I have skipped class and school occasionally.

7. Lmao cheerleaders in school isn't really a thing in England at least not where I am.

8. My wardrobe is full of my uniform.

9. Yes many times 😉

10. I don't have a locker.

11. I've never skipped gym class (or Physical education as we call it) because it's insanely hard to not get caught for skipping.

12. A cheese and ham panini.

13. My big crush was a boy who was popular and sort of mean to me lol typical right.

Yep we call it Phys Ed in Oz.. we might do Phys Ed in a Gymnasium. But mostly not in Australia, its so nice out doors.

When I think "Gym" I think puffy red roid rage.

1. What kind of crowd did you hang with?

We were all very different. We didn't really fit as one stereotype, but overall I guess we were in the middle of the popularity pyramid.

2. Were you studious or a slacker?

I was studious. A big nerd actually.

3. Join any clubs?

I played basketball.

4. Which teacher did you absolutely loathe with a passion?

My grade 9 French teacher, but that's cause I sucked at French. By grade 12 I had improved a lot and I actually really liked her.

I loathed my history teacher though, he was a jerk to my brother (because he's dyslexic and required some extra help in the classroom).

5. Ever get detention?

No, my school didn't really do detention. You could get suspended but that's it. And I never really got in trouble (unless we were going to the church, then I was an ass and was usually made to stay longer after all the other students could go).

6. Were you a frequent ditcher?

No, never ditched.

7. Your thoughts on cheerleaders?

We didn't have any for 3 years. The last year we had a very small team, and 3 of them were my friends so I guess they were aright 😛

8. What was your wardrobe like?

Jeans, and lots and lots of emo Tees lol. I went through a phase. I also had a emo haircut (short hair with long side bangs). Those were bad years.

9. Ever forge your parents' signature on a report card, principal's note, etc?

All. THE. TIME.

10. Can you remember your locker combination?

Yes. I still use my highschool lock.

11. How many times did you avoid gym class?

Never. I loved gym class and was really athletic.

12. Favourite meal in the cafeteria?

I loved my caf food, it was actually all homemade food. I think my favourite was when they had Mexican food.

13. Who was your big crush?

haha I'm taking this one to the grave.
