I'm looking for some more comics to read (yeah, kinda went comic crazy after S8, ATF, and Umbrella Academy).

I have all S8's.
The first 2 volumes of ATF.
Fray
Serenity: Better Days
Serenity: Those Left Behind
I've read Sugarshock!. And I TOTALLY recommend it.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting Tales of the Vampires/Slayers with my $25 gift card to Barnes & Nobles. 🙂

So, what about you?

I have:

Buffy Season 8: Volume 1, Volume 2, and Volume 3. So that's the first 15 issues.
Angel Season 6: Volume 1. I think that's the first five?

I plan on buying Fray soon, and maybe the Buffy Omnibus comics.

I have all of season 8 (both single issues and paperbacks), all the Angel: AtF issues, the Fray paperback, Tales of the Slayers, Tales of the Vampires, both Serenity series, and Buffy Omnibus #1 (which includes Buffy's origin story.)

What exactly ARE the Omnibus volumes? I've seen them but I don't really understand what they are, or what they're about. Are they all standalones or do they tell a whole story...?

They're collections of the old Buffy comics Dark Horse used to publish, before the Season 8 comics started.

They're non-canonical, with a few exceptions, but a lot of them are fun.

The omnibi (omnibuses?) collect the old Buffy comic series in chronological order. Some of the issues are standalones, some of them are larger stories divided up into four or five different comics (kinda like the s8 arcs).

Hope that helps!

Edit
Dang it, Andrew! Your fingers are much too speedy for me!

All issues of Buffy season 8
Fray
Runaways vol. 8: Dead End Kids

I might get After the Fall soon, but I haven't heard the greatest things about it, so I might need some more convincing first. As for the Serenity comics, I have yet to hear any feedback on it, good or bad, so I'm really not sure if I should order them or not.

I've got Buffy Season 8 and Angel After the Fall. I just received my most recent issues, but I can't open the packaging. Yes, I m a weakling.

They're not like all the comics though, right? Just select ones?

I'm thinking about getting Vol. 1 just because it has The Origin.

Also, I consider them canon simply because there's no reason why it shouldn't be. Like, they don't contradict the show, it's just like another epy.

EDIT: And what issues did Joss do for Astonishing X-Men?

They do contradict the show in places, though.

Rule of thumb...a comic is canon only if:

a) Joss wrote it, and didn't specifically say it's *not* canon, or
b) Someone else wrote it, and Joss specifically says it *is* canon.

Canonical comics would be:
Season 8
Angel: After the Fall and its related spinoffs
Tales of the Slayers
Tales of the Vampires
The Origin
Fray
...and perhaps selected other ones

I know they're not technically canon, but is there really contradictions that are a big deal?

Not unless you're a pathetic continuity nerd... like I am.

Really, the only disadvantage to "non-canonical" stuff is that Joss & Co. may very well directly contradict it in future official Buffyverse material.

I have all of s8 as well as almost every issue of the Buffy comics pre-season 8 that Dark Horse released. My personal favorites of coarse are the ones that Amber Benson worked on. (Wilderness and Wanna Blessed Be)

Buffy S8 issues #1 through #22
Angel After the Fall issues #1 - #17
Angel Smile Time #1 & #2
Buffy The Vampire Slayer Omnibus Volume 1.
And I've read that one on the Dark Horse Myspace, forgot the name of it...

I plan on buying Fray soon. They have it in my local comic shop, just waiting 'til I've got the money. 😀

Edit: Oh, I also have an old Buffy annual with a lot of different comics in it.

Angel: After the Fall Volumes 1 & 2
Buffy Season 8 Volumes 1-3

I am waiting for some more to arrive, i just ordered them.

Fray
Tales of the vampires/slayers

All Angel: After the Fall issues, the Spike: After the Fall issues, some Buffy: Sesaon 8 issues, and the Fray one.

I have read the first couple of trades of Serenity.....and pretty much all of Buffy season 8 and i have to say, i love them equal. Both hilarious, compelling and of course the art is amazing. Not sure if Jo Chen has done any of the cover art for Serenity but her work on Buffy is stellar. I actually met her at this past comic-con. Got issue #9 signed. Highlight of my life hahaha. I definintly recommend all Buffy/Serenity/Angel comics. They fill a giant void.

I have Fray, Astonishing X-Men Vol 1-4, Tales of the Vampires, Tales of the Slayers, Buffy 8 -23, Spike after the fall, Angel after the fall, Serenity: Better Days, Serenity: Those Left Behind, and my favorite Sugar Shock.
