What will be next seasons Big Bad

okay then.spike gets ignored cruelly by buffy,runs to halfrek.turns out with a soul he has an even greater capacity to be evil.so jilted spike bigbad.new spike like old spike but with more purpose(and halfrek as a sidekick)

Partially agree Lindsey, i think the finale won't actually have a big bad. There'll be foes at mid-marks and erratic guest appearances rooted to the evil side for a ratings boost... but apart from that it will be the development of the lives of the group. Something like everyone moving elsewhere and leading new lives away from Sunnydale. Leaving it to others, maybe Dawn may have by then found a group of little scoob's? Don't think there will be a central big bad though, that'll just be too cliché for what ulitmately could be the last season.

This doesn't come from one of our proven sources, and I wonder if we'd even be posting this if "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon didn't keep yammering on about the theme of the show's next (and perhaps final) season being "Buffy: Year One."
But. Somebody just wrote us with a fairly convincing tale. The details of how this source learned have to remain hidden, but here are a few key excerpts:

Mark Metcalf (a.k.a. The Master) has been contracted for next season.

[Mysource] didn't go into details as to how many episodes or anything.

I don't think [my source] realized what [he or she] had said to a Buffy Fan. [My source] didn't go into details about how many episodes or anything but it would explain in part to Joss calling season seven "Buffy Season One".

Anyway - I hope this is a fun little tidbit from a confidential source. It will probably be easy to confirm. Do what you want with it...

And keep up the great work on AICN. I look forward to your columns on many of my shows each week.

For those coming in late, the brillant Mark "Maestro Neidermeyer" Metcalf played The Master. He was "Buffy's" season-one Big Bad, a very, very old vampire. Like all big bads, he was dispatched in the season finale.
In Herc's considered opinion, the idea of bringing back the Master for what may very well be the final season certainly sounds like an idea strong enough to emerge from Team Whedon. (After all, we haven't had a Big Vampire Bad since season two.) But just to point out the obvious:

1. This could be evil, vengeance-laden Team Whedon misdirection.
2. The Master has already turned up post-season-one in flashback and alternative-universe mode. Could be more of the same.
3. Even if The Master's back, it doesn't mean he's back all season, and doesn't mean he's the Big Bad. (But they sure don't get much badder than The Master!)

Yep i heard that too about The Master. But i don't know for how many episodes he'll be in BTvs. It could be, like Oz said, just a flashback or something...

Sounds like a damn good idea to me. I was hoping for a big bad vamp this season. I'd really like to see how they'd fit the Master into the show again. Oh yay.😉
 
I dont want to see the master as big bad,

An idea my mate had was if we had the first vampire who would looking somthing like pylean Angel 🙂 that could be good
 
Oh that would be so cool! But he may not be coming back as the Master. After all, Mark Metcalf played the Judge and another demon I can't remember, too. So he may be playing a different Big Bad. But either way, Mark Metcalf rocks as the bad guy! Yay! 😀
 
I have a question. Why do you all think that Spike will be human. What evidence do you have? Just because he got his soul back, doesn't mean that he becomes human. You have no evidence to support that. More than likely Spike will have something to do with the big bad though.

Are you sure he played the Judge? I thought that guy that played the alien assassin on X-Files was the Judge?
 
Someone tell me that I've lost my mind. I just heard from one of my sources that Willow's not gonna be on the show for the seventh season. Can some one confirm or disprove this please?

But that's super-repetitive. And Joss said it was. But my point was that that's why everyone thinks Spike is human again. And the whole Cecily connection.

Well this isn't confirmation, but i am very sceptical towards her not being included in the 7th season. Reeling from what happened back in s6, it'd be highly unlikely not to see her in some (if not, of course all) of next season. She's part of the initial Scooby gang more than anything and with no major projects for next year, i'd be very surprised.

If it is from a trusted source though, then maybe she's tied the knot with Alexis and arranged time off? She isn't getting any younger and well although i'd want her to wait till after the season's finished, you can't really stand in the way of love now can you. Not that i'm trying to dissapoint all you Wes/Will fans out there, just a suggestion. 🙂
 
To Buffy Summers: Can you please explain the whole Cecily thing?

To Oz: I trust my source pretty well though sometimes he/she gets things confused so I'll be sure to check on that. by the way i didn't know that things had gotten so serious between her and Alexis. Are they that serious?

To those of you who think that Willow should go to jail for killing people like Faith and that Buffy is a hypocrite: If you remember in one of the Fifth seasons last episodes, the one where they left in the R.V. When Buffy was on top of the R.V. it looked to me like she killed a few of those soldiers. Stabbing them with an axe and throwing them off a vehicle going at high speeds will do that to a person. Also Giles, he killed Ben on the last episode of the fifth season. I know that Anya must have done some killing in her days.
 
On a different note. I have an idea. What about Dawn? I mean she is still the key isn't she? Was Glory the only being in the universe that was after her? Does she have in special powers?

Who knows? She could be the next Big Bad.

Yes, but like I said before. Joss said he's not doing the dark thing next season, and making Dawn the enemy would kind of make the show dark again. It's gonna be happier next season!

And I don't think Dawn has any special powers. The only power she had was to open up a portal to Glory's home demension, and now that Glory is dead Dawn has no powers.

Spike could be a vampire-with-a-soul and still be different from Angel because Angel got his soul as a result of a curse and Spike didn't. So Spike as a vampire-with-a-soul would theoretically be able to have *true happiness*. You know they did say they were going back to the feeling of season 1 and season 1 did have a vampire-with-a-soul that was in love with Buffy...

But that would be awfully similiar to Angel and esp. since Joss did say he didn't want to *go there* it is my opinion that Spike was made human. Because the demon kept asking Spike if he wanted to be "what he once was" (or something like that).


Back on topic to talk about the season 7 *big bad*
I have read spoilers that say the actor who played The Master is under contract for some episodes during season seven.
 
To queen of Buffdom: If she didn't have powers she wouldn't exist. Why is she still alive if she has no purpose or can never be used again?

And again I repeat, this time for Seven of Nine: the demon said he gave him back his soul.
