What Will You Be Watching This Fall?

I must admit that I'm really excited for the new TV season to start. For the first time ever, almost all the shows I have enjoyed this past season have been renewed, except for Veronica Mars, Drive, and a couple of others. And this fall's selection of shows looks like it will be MUCH better than probably the last three seasons.

Are there any NEW shows on the U.S. broadcast networks (CBS, ABC, NBC, FOX, and The CW only) that you're looking forward to and plan on watching?

Here are some of my top picks:

Pushing Daisies: This is probably the pilot I'm most excited about. If you can, please watch the promos at ABC. This show looks amazing. It's from Bryan Fuller, the creator of Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls. The show has a completely unique feel and look to it, as far as TV is concerned. This show is going to be THE criticial darling of the 2007-2008 season.

The Bionic Woman: I hate the original series as well as TSMDM, but this new series looks very good. NBC loved it to, and plans on supporting it more than any other new show. The special effects are impressive, the whole show looks like a movie, the cast seems pretty good, and there's lots of action. This show is going to be aimed at the fans of shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Alias.

Chuck: Probably my second-most-looked-forward-to show of the fall. I really, really hope NBC doesn't screw this one over, but advertiser's think this show shows more promise than any other show at that network. This is a very funny (judging from the previews) spy comedy from Josh Schwartz. It looks like a perfect way to spend an hour. The plot concerns a geeky guy who becomes hunted by the government when all of their secrets are downloaded into his brain.

Reaper: Number three on my list. And oddly enough, it's going to be in the same timeslot as Chuck. Both shows are aimed at a similar audience, and both shows have a sci-fi/fantasy situation, and both have a geeky guy as their protagonist. Reaper is about a guy whose parents sold his soul to the devil and on his 21st birthday he has to work for the devil. Fortunately, like Chuck and Pushing Daisies, this show has a lot of support from critics.

Aliens in America: Everyone is pretty shocked that a network like The CW had the balls to do this show. It's an irreverent comedy about a family who apply for an exchange student and get a kid from the Middle East. The show deals with terrorist themes and stuff, and everyone as school thinks he's a terrorist, even though he's not from Iraq. Critics seem to be liking this one okay too.

K-Ville: This show could end up seriously sucking, but the preview on the FOX website was actually pretty interesting. This show is a cop drama (a genre which I usually avoid) set in post-Katrina New Orleans. It looks pretty edgy and controversial, but good. I'm not sure if the odds are in its favor of surviving an entire first season.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Coming to FOX in January, concerning Sarah Connor from the Terminator films - a film franchise which I have never seen, but will now. The show looks awesome.

Miss Guided: This show is going to be DOA, but the preview on ABC's website makes me laugh hysterically every time I watch it. It's a single camera comedy about a girl who returns to her old high school to be a counselor. I really hope it gets a full 13-episode order at least, and gets all of those episodes shown. But I'm not counting on ABC's comedy dilemma to get better this season.

Big Shots: I really don't know if I'll like this show or not, but it's bound to be a hit, it's after Grey's Anatomy and has a pretty decent cast. It's about CEOs, it's supposed to be a comedic drama like GA and DH. The cast includes Michael Vartan (Alias) and Christopher Titus.

And among returning shows I'll be definitely watching Lost (which sadly won't return until February), Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, Prison Break, Bones, Supernatural, Smallville (which is getting worse and worse), Heroes, The Office, My Name is Earl, 30 Rock, and a few others.

The new one Im most looking forward to is The Womens Murder Club. Ive read a fair few of the James Patterson books so it'll be interesting to see how they turn it into a TV show.
 
The preview for Women's Murder Club looks pretty interesting, and I really like a couple of the cast members. I plan on giving that one a shot.
 
I just watched the preview of it and saw the cast and already Im not amused. Jill is not meant to be a young assistant DA. The point is shes a high powered lawyer. And who the hell is Yuki?

Thats the problem with reading the books first though.

New Shows I may watch [as i look at them]:
New Amsterdam - New York City homicide detective John Amsterdam is cursed with immortality because he stopped the murder of a Native Indian schoolgirl in 1642 by stepping in front of a sword. Due to this act of kindness, the Indian girl rescued Amsterdam from the stab wound by making him immortal. Fox Tuesdays at 8pm [before HOUSE]
 
I'll be watching my old standby's, Bones, CSI and Dirt of course. I think New Amsterdam sounds cool, too, might give that a try.
 
I have a lot of old favorites.

The Simpsons, Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother, The New Adventure of Old Christine (premieres in mid-season), American Idol (premieres in January), House, Boston Legal, Bones, My Name is Earl, 30 Rock, The Office, Scrubs, Grey's Anatomy, Saturday Night Live.

I'm looking forward to The Sarah Connor Chronicles because I love the Terminator movies, especially T2. But it doesn't premiere until January, which is kinda odd. The clips of The Reaper look pretty funny, so I may check that out.
 
There are many jump the shark shows that are still enjoyable, The Simpsons being one of them. It gets good ratings and I know a lot of people still like it.
 
People liking it and good ratings does not mean the show is in fact "good". I mean, look at Dancing with the Stars and American Idol. Or 7th Heaven. And then look at the not so good ratings shows like Veronica Mars. [And did Buffy do good with ratings? I can't remember.]

sk8rj04, your second post was even more insulting than your first post. If people enjoy a tv show, then let them. You don't need to be mean.
 
I wasn't insulting anybody. I was just saying ratings dont mean a durn thing when it comes to the quality of a show. And how was my first post insulting?
 
Here's my list:

Private Practice Hm, I want it to be good, I hope so.
How I Met Your Mother It's always cute, almost.
Bones Mm, Bones, I love it.
Bionic Woman I'm not actually sure that I'm going to like this, but it's Katee Sackhoff!
Heroes Not really the biggest fan of this show, but it's exciting enough.

Hm, that's not very much, eh, I'll probably find more shows as this next season approaches, just haven't checked any new stuff out yet.
 
Ya know for the first time in a long time, I find myself unmoved by the fall season. There doesn't seem to be anything interesting coming our way and only a handful of good shows remain on air. I would watch Reaper but the CW doesn't deserve my viewership. Did HIMYM get renewed? I'll watch that, Grey's, John from Cincinatti (actually thats a summer start), Dirt (possibly), Heroes (it improves) and Lost (if it improves).
