I was thinking the other day, when Tara died and Willow turned evil; just imagine that Oz returned to Sunnydale during her reign of being evil, do you think he'd have reached her? Or made her see sense? Or do you think she would have killed him?

Opinions, please 😀

Very interesting question... I tend to think Oz might have been able to reach Willow. Even though Willow loved Tara so deeply, she always had a soft spot for her first love, Oz. I think Oz's return during the Dark Willow arc would have been seriously interesting and cool.

I think him returning might have been too much for her to handle after what had happened with Tara

Yeah. She probably would've fileted him.
I don't think so, and I'm not just saying that 'cause I don't like Woz. 😛

I think that what Willow really needed was Xander. They grew up together, and have a strong loving friendship that I think is greater than Willow's feelings for Oz. She needed Xander, and Xander needed his crayon breaky Willow.

While I would hate to see Xander go further into irrelevancy, I think it would've been neat to see Oz help Willow out. He saw the power trips coming and he knew how to suppress. To think that Willow would fillet him would be way out there to me. "Because it's Oz, y'know" - Willow

Good question, but I don't think he would be able to stop her.

I actually think Xander was the only one who's able to stop her. No matter what, Buffy would have an obligation to kill her. If Willow stayed evil, Buffy would have an obligation to stop her.. even if stopping her means killing her. Her best friend. But Xander, he was someone who knew her the longest, and who would stay by her side no matter what. Who loved her in this or that state.

I don't think Oz would be able to stop her. He's a quiet guy, and what Willow really needed was someone to talk to her, to tell her that she was loved, and that even though things were bad, they would eventually get better. I think a conversation between them would go something like this:
Oz: Hey.
Willow rants about how is worthless and not important to her, and doesn't know the true meaning of pain, yaddah yaddah yah.
Oz looks at her.
Oz: Woah.
Willow burns him to a crisp with her electricity spell thingy.
Oz: Ow.
😀

Considering that in the last two episodes he had been in, in season 4 (and a lot of talking he did in season 8) he had a lot to say when it came to it, I don't think that'd happen.

I also think that this would've been interesting in Season 8 when I saw that
Bay (Oz's wife) got wounded in the battle and it looked like her wound was in the same spot that looked similar to Tara's wound when she got shot. I think it would've been interesting to see Willow have some kind of post traumatic flash back in that moment to see how it still affects Willow and how Oz would be able to handle her in that moment after they had a long talk about Willow being able to have a family and him trusting her implicitly with his son.
. He surely would've been able to talk her down from that after that conversation.

Valjavertjinn agrees: I didn't mean to be mean. I don't read the comics, so I knew him as one-word-response guy.

Oh no, I didn't think you were being mean. My apologies for making you feel that way. I just meant we had seen more about him as he was on his way out and then in the comic and he became more ..wordy. Which is weird when I think about it now but I guess it was his way of combating the wolf within?

I guess so. That's an interseting perspective of why he got talkative.😀
And you didn't make me feel like I was being mean; I just saw that you had Oz as your skin, figured I had offended you, and then backtracked. So I'm good.

I loved Willow and Oz, but I really don't think Oz could have reached Willow where she was at. She was beyond reasoning, and I'm thinking that Dark Willow would have just seen Oz and only remembered the pain he caused her. Which would equal filleting.

Hmm, this is actually an interesting way to look at it. I hadn't thought of that!
What if Oz stopped Willow instead of Xander? OMG! What if Xander was Glory's second half and died in "The Gift" instead of Ben? Then Oz would stop Willow in "Grave" and become a regular in Season 7!

I'm on a bloody roll today!

Part of me thinks he may have been able to reach her. At the same time part of me thinks she needed to hear it from Xander. Like others have said Xander and Willow had been best friends since childhood. They knew each other better than anyone else. What would Oz be able to contribute? I'm sorry Warren killed Tara, and I'm sorry I keep leaving and then randomly popping up once per season? I just don't see him returning for one episode being that effective.

I don't think that Oz wouldve been able to reach her. I think it would have made Willow even more angry, because that was another person in her life that let her down and brought sorrow. Xander knew her the best, his love was pure.

I think Willow would never fall in love with him again!! He was so far away for so long!
