What you don't like about your favorite character.

Angel:

Treating Lorne like his valet rather than his friend.

How he sometimes treated Wesley. Especially how he alienated him in Disharmony in favour of Cordy.

I'll just second this because it was pretty much what I was going to say.

Angel

Cant really decided if I prefer Angel or Buffy and it changes every now and again, atm its probably Angel.

I absolutely LOVE the character of Angelus but the things that he did to the Scoobies were just awful and Angel has to shoulder some of that responsibility.
Also the way he ghosted about at the start of S1 with his weird little hints and clues to Buffy were odd, but I'm clutching at straws with that one because I still thought he was pretty cool in S1 and I just love Angel, can really relate to him much more than most on the shows.

Cordelia

My only gripe is When she had her affair with Connor I actually wanted them to kill her off to make it end!!

My favourite character is Tara 🙂
What I don't like :

1. That she was standing near that bloody window in Seeing Red 😀
2. That she didn't explain to Willow her fear of being a demon earlier

That's all I can think of right now.

Cordelia

It's hard for me to say anything bad about her 😛, in the middle of Angel Cordelia became less funny. I also didn't like when she cut her hair short and dyed it blonde, I liked Cordy with long brown hair. I also didn't like the story where she was having sex with Connor...and SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN SEASON 5!!

Spike . . . Spike . . . Spike . . . umm . . . I'm trying to think of a character flaw rather than something he did. . . I like a lot of his flaw because they led to his development.

I guess it bugs me that he follows his blood . . . which doesn't exactly flow in the direction of his brain. . . . I mean Harmony? Really?

I guess I did both. Character flaw and a specific instance. Yay for me!

Willow and the whole "I can't go out with you Goby, I'm gay!" speech. 🙂

Oh, and the way she broke Oz's heart while cheating with Xander. I was not a Willow fan during that episode.

Oh, and the way she played house with Tara and didn't get a job during Season 6.

Spike is my favorite character. I have just sat here for like five minutes and I honestly cannot think of something about Spike I don't love.

I went back and revisited this and still cannot think about something about Spike I don't love. I find his flaws endearing and they make me love him more...

Yeah. My complaint about him is barely even a complaint. I had to stretch. And I even used his own words for it cuz he's that awesome.
I don't have a SINGLE favorite character, I have four, so...

Buffy: She has troubles sharing with others. Even her friends and boyfriend(in Riley case).
Giles: A little too exigent toward others.
Cordelia: Her honesty and bluntness sometimes make her sound really bitchy toward others. I disliked that about her particularily early on in BtVS. In Angel it's toned down a bit, so it was cool imo.
Lorne: His lack of initiative. I'd have liked him to take action in his own hands more often.

I don't like that Wesley was quite so infatuated with Fred. It bordered on a little weird... But then that makes me like him more... Oh I can't think of much that I don't like about Wesley. Ummm... Oooh! I know one - I don't like that he was mean to Giles in BtVS. Yeah.

And Giles - I don't like that you left Buffy and Dawn all on their own in Season 6. You're her watcher dude - WATCH!

So agree with the Giles part... Completely forgot that.
Cordelia

She's great but in BtVS she was too stupid at times and had annoying moments but in Atv she perfected 😀

although her hair being cut got on my nerves!

Lol a couple people in this thread mentioned her hair as the thing they didn't like about her, funny. :p

Um ... seriously? How about that, until he got the chip and was involuntarily shut down, he was a vicious, remorseless killer? We discovered the chip when he was about to kill Willow. Willow! How about his repeatedly declaring how much he hated the Scoobies? How about his trying to rape Buffy? How about his wishing death on her numerous times (including twice in "Walk Through the Fire" in OMWF). Seriously? There's nothing you dislike about this evil, murderous vampire?

Since Spike is my favorite character and I consider him as "Perfect", I really can't find anything bad about him.

I'm just dying here. See my previous response. Seriously???????

Well, of course. Because attempted rape and wishing death on someone are so endearing.

I love Giles, but I hate that he left Buffy in season 6 (though understand the actor's need to return to his family); and I hate how he betrayed Buffy in season 7, both with trying to kill Spike behind her back and acquiescing in kicking her out of the group and her own house. Personally, I simply reject season 7 Giles. He never happened.

I do not appreciate this tone. I was answering the question. There is not a single thing about Spike I don't love because I understand all of his flaws and find them endearing. I do not love his actions all the time... but that doesn't mean I don't love him or why he did this or that. Please do not attack me for sharing my opinion. If you disagree, fine. But please do not take this rude, snappy tone with me. I do not appreciate it.

Oh, for goodness sake I'm not attacking you. I'm reflecting what YOU said. Let me break this down. You said:

"There is not a single thing about Spike I don't love."

Taking away the negative, that means:

"I love everything about Spike."

So, that means that you love:

That he has killed hundreds of people.

That he tried to kill Buffy in the early seasons.

That he left Buffy to die when she appeared to be losing the fight in Becoming Pt 2.

That he, many times, declared his wish that she would die. (Including in OMWF.)

That he wanted to kill Willow.

That he would have continued killing if it weren't for the chip.

That he declared how much he hated the Scoobies.

That he turned the Scoobies against each other, to serve Adam.

That he tried to rape Buffy.

I could continue. My point is -- well, is it true? You love everything about Spike, including the above? (If so, that might explain why you don't like Giles.)

Ok... I guess I'll have to reword this.

I DO NOT like all of Spike's mistakes.

I DO like Spike had mistakes.

I DO like how Spike learned from his mistakes.

I DO like everything about Spike's personality.

I thought that was all kind of understood... but I guess not.

And how would that explain why I don't like Giles? I don't like Giles because of GILES' actions... not Spike's. Two completely unrelated characters and topics here.

And by the way this:
Well, of course. Because attempted rape and wishing death on someone are so endearing.
felt like an attack to me

Decorum please, try to keep a civil tone even when opinions conflict or we'll have to close.

thank you
🙂

My favorite character is Spike (great shock, there, right?)

And this is going to sound weird, I know, but the thing that I dislike most about the character is...

He smokes. Not constantly, to be sure, but he DOES smoke, and every time that I see him, or anyone else, light up a cigarette, I can't help remembering my father in the hospital dying of cancer. That's what I hate most about Spike, and about Faith in that one scene in Season 7.

This is what I dislike most about James too. I forgot this. Thank you.
Spike doesn't always think things over before he does something or says something. Like in "Crush", chaining Buffy up in his crypt.... what was he thinking? You're coming on too strong, and that's NOT gonna bring Buffy closer to you! You know how much I love Spuffy, and because of that I just wish you'd do things right, so that Buffy will be yours (I'm talking to Spike here, not you the post viewers, sorry).

Ok, I'm amending my former statements. I dislike that Spike smokes. He's fictional and it's easy for me to overlook in the show... but I have a different perspective on it when I found out James started again. Now the fact that Spike smokes (and James ever did) makes me feel kinda hurt. And the fact that James started again makes me feel betrayed in a way. It's what I dislike most about both of them. Maybe the ONLY thing I truly dislike about either of them.

True, but in fairness to James, he started smoking because of Spike. They made him smoke, and he got addicted. He walked around with a patch and all. He does not like smokes. He asked from the producers of Buffy that they don't show him actually taking a drag, because he didn't want to set bad example to kids who like him.

And I didn't know he started again. Doesn't mean he loves cigarettes though.
