What You Don't Like

OK, I know that this place is a "Spuffy Sanctuary", but I'm pretty curious.

As Spuffy fans, we always try to highlight what we enjoy about Spuffy. In debates, in fanfiction, in fan videos, everywhere. Why? Because we love Spuffy, and we like to think about the best parts of it rather than the worst parts.

But I feel that in order to truly love and understand a 'ship you need to accept and love it's faults and weaknesses as much as you love all the good stuff. It's ALL a part of what makes Spuffy the beauty that it is. So, here's the thread where you can post whatever it is about Spuffy the just irks you for whatever reason, if in fact anything annoys you at all. 😀

So, me: Although it's an important part of the Spuffy journey, the AR always makes me sad. 🙁

As does the way that they used each other in S6.

In S7 I almost thought that it was TOO fluffy, lol. 😀

And... That's about it for now. 🙂 And remember guys, I know that we're talking faults here, but please no bashing. Thank you! 🙂

Okay... I absolutely love the Buffybot, I think she's hilarious. But then when you really think about it... it's a very weird and squicky thing for Spike to have done, LOL.

Oh yes, that reminds me.

I hardly ever enjoy S5 Spuffy, lol. 😀 Most of it is pretty pathetic, degrading, and just plain weird on Spike's part. Even before he became obsessed with her. Like, that doll that he dressed up to look like her and then talk to was one of the creepiest things ever, imo. 😀

Aww, I love most of season five Spuffy. But some of the things Spike did were a little extreme, XD.

Honestly, there isn't much I dislike about Spuffy.

The AR, obviously. And the way Buffy treated Spike in S6.

But I pretty much love their whole journey. 🙂

I'm kind of having some trouble here. I suppose... does Buffy not telling Willow about their S6 thing count as part of the Spuffy ship? Because I didn't like that part.

I totally agree with Amy; the way Buffy treated Spike in S6 and the AR are in my top most hated Spuffy "stages."

BUT all the bad they went through strengthened them and their bond, and helped make them as close as they eventually became. They started as enemies and ended as true friends. They reinvented themselves. Sometimes beauty can some from pain. 🙂

My top most hated scene, though, in S6 isn't the AR believe it or not. I absolutely hate the alley scene in 'Dead Things.' I have a hard time watching it. It's just so...brutal. All that Spike tried to do was help her and prevent her from doing something stupid, and what does he get? Beaten to a bloody pulp and left alone. She punished him for loving her because she hated herself so much for wanting him. It's very sad.

Oh yeah, absolutely. There were probably more downs than ups, but you're right - every one of them strengthened their relationship. We might not like with every aspect of it, but I think we can agree that it was an amazing journey.

Yeah I got nothing - I like or can live with everything about this ship. That's why I ship it. Oh, no - wait... there is one thing. I don't like how it hasen't had any attention in season 8 but my fingers are crossed that this will be rectified real soon 🙂

Well, Season 8 IS set, like, two years after Spike "died". 🙂

I don't like the way Buffy treats him either in s5 & 6, she's so rude to him!

The only thing I did not like is how she was kind of ashamed of him. I know Spike is not the best person in the world at times but he did not have a soul and still cared for her. There were moments that she seemed ashamed that she liked him in a sense and it always irritated me. Season 6 I did not love for them. Except where she kind of admitted to herself that she cared at Anya's wedding when she said she was jealous. That moment seemed real other than that there were not to many like there were in season 7.

Ok, yeah the AR was pretty bad. I mean, there were many Spuffy moments when I smacked my forehead because Spike would do something stupid, but that was a definite biggie.
Also the scene in "Fool for Love" when Buffy throws the money at him in the alley and he cries while he picks it up... oy, totally upsetting.
Since it was followed by the two of them sitting on the porch, however, made for one heck of an ending to the episode.

I'm a fan of most of their relationship, the only one thing that I can't stand is the biggie... which apparantly is so offensive that people now acronym!

Honestly, most of the ups and downs in the relationship don't bother me, as it makes it feel more real to me. The thing I never liked about most of the bangel (and most of the briley come to think of it) is how perfect love was represented. I feel like love isn't something that just floats along, but something that you need to work at to make last, something that comes with horrible moments, but also the wonderful moments where you learn to forgive people.

At the end of the day though I do think Spike and I would make the perfect couple. Done.

I'm not really sure that this would exactly qualify as a "Spuffy" moment, but in "AS You Were," despite all of the good that Spike had done, all of the help that he had been to Buffy and her friends, her reaction to Riley's accusation that Spike is the Doctor is, "This is Spike. TH'S TOO STUPID to be the Doctor." Spike has been shown to be a lot of things, mainly impulsive and more apt to let his fists, or the threat of them, do his talking for him, but never stupid. Also, she never gave him any real chance to answer Riley's accusations or give any explanation whatsoever, either at that moment, or at any time later, for why those eggs actually were there. At the very least, after all of the loyalty and affection that he had demonstrated toward her and Dawn, after the pain that he had endured protecting them, she should have been willing to hear his side of the story.

I agree. I really hate that scene as much as I hate the AR scene. But, in both cases, both Buffy and Spike realized the significance of their actions and grew as characters. Like Spike, Buffy had that horrified look on her face when he realized what she was doing. I think that maybe it convinced herself more to go to the police and turn herself in.

Actually, my least favorite Spuffy moment was in Beneath You. Not the church scene, but when the gang was at the Bronze. After Spike and Anya got into a fight and Buffy said, "You haven't changed Spike," they throw some punches, and Spike later says, "I guess this will be first contact since you know when." Is he referring to the AR scene? Because if he is, I really hate that, since he has his soul now. I then sometimes think he's referring to the balcony scene in Dead Things because he then says, "Up for another round on the balcony then?" But, they had "contact" after that, so I then think he's not. Either way, I just think the line is really out of place, considering how far he has come until that point.

I get your point. It's a scene I think we all wish didn't happen. Sadly, it did.

You know what other couple I just thought of that reminds me of Spuffy? Maybe it's been mentioned before, but Luke and Laura from General Hospital.

I mean Luke raped Laura and they ended up getting married and being this super couple for soap operas.

I'm not saying Spuffy should be exactly like them, far from it. But, I think it's just part of the couple's journey and we have to see if they can recover. The fact they could and gain a closeness just fascinates me.
