Whats been Buffy's hardest battle over the years?

Personally i think Glory was because she totally kicked Buffy's ass on several accations all though Buffy turned that around when she smashed her face in with a hammer (laughs). But then unfortunetly she had to sacrifice her self to save her sister and the world.(sob)But she came back to life so all went well in the end, kinda.
 
Hmm....Buffy's hardest battle. I would say would have to be with Dark Willow, because it was her best friend, and she didn't want to hurt her. She also got "every square inch of her butt kicked" by Dark Willow, which makes it that much worse. At the same time she was dealing with so many other things, emotionally, so I'd have to say Buffy vs. Dark Willow.
 
On an emotional level, I would agree with iluvcosmo14. It takes a lot to take a stand against your enemies, but it takes much more to stand up to your friends (or whatever that Dumbledore quote is 😉 )
 
I guess on an emotional level it would be either Willow or Angel. She loved them both - one as a best friend , one as her boyfriend and having to kill him and everything.

But I would agree that Glory was the most difficult to defeat and also it was harder as she was doing it to protect her sister!
 
In terms of most powerful enemies, Buffy's hardest battle would obviously have been against the First Evil. On an emotional level, fighting her lover and her best friend would have been the most difficult. In terms most extreme methods used to defeat the current "Big Bads," it would be either Season 5eason 5, when she had to die to win, or Season 7, when she had to basically change the world to contain a foe who ultimately could never actually be beaten.
 
I think Buffy's hardest battle was Angel(us). She was still sort of new at being a slayer when Angel turned evil. It seemed a lot harder for her on an emotional level. When it came to Willow, Buffy had grown a lot and knew if it came down to it she would have to kill Willow. In season 7 she said to Giles that if she had to sacrafise Dawn now she would. So yeah Angel seemed to be the hardest for her to face.
 
Each of Buffy's battles challenged her in a different way. I agree with Slayer07 that Glory proved the toughest opponent on a literal level, forcing her to sacrifice herself in order to save both her sister and the world. The First was not as great a challenge as the seventh season led us to believe. The real threat in that season was the army of ubervamps arising from the Hellmouth. Angelus was undoubtedly the first emotionally charged challenge she ever faced. Remember, Buffy was much younger when she took him on than she would be by the time of Glory and the ubervamps. She had never really lost anyone that close to her before (well, maybe her father, but that was completely different). She had to condemn her (ultimately resouled) first true love to an eternity in damnation. So that was a pretty darn tough challenge as well.
 
Taking care of her sister and finding a job to earn money so she would not loose her house and everything else.(taking over the mother role)
 
every battle she faced was extremely difficult in its own way, but i would say her fight against glory was truly difficult, not only physically, but emotionally as well. she had to make the decision to sacrifice herself over dawn, leaving her sister behind (because joyce had already died), and all her friends who i think she knew would be devastated with her gone.

however, i also like to think the season one finale and her battle against the master was extremely hard for her. how would you feel (at 16 years old) knowing that you were going to die-- that it was destined? and you still go out there to face the thing you know is going to kill you. i think that took buffy a hell of amount of strength and courage to do that. especially because she was still honing her powers and learning to be a slayer. and who could forget the "i'm 16 yrs old giles. i don't want to die" speech. breaks my heart everytime...
 
I'd say Glory too, and the whole situation with Dawn-as-Key and the death of her mom.
She's really burnt out by the end of season 5, poor thing.
