What's in a username?

I see plenty of usernames around here..some having to do with Buffy/Angel and some just simply names. But there are some that I don't entirely get. For instance, does anyone know why I chose OhWow or what it even means? Nope. Tell me why you chose your username, the reason behind it, and perhaps even the story about how you came upon it.

My story: So I was searching Buffy forums because like some of you may know, my friends are way too "cool" to watch it and therefore I had nobody to share my thoughts with. The first link was BB so I clicked on it. I looked at the site..how organized it was, how nice it looked, and I saw the nice S4 banner at the top. I am really bad at thinking of usernames so I usually go with the first thing that comes to mind ( for instance..a username I had at another site was "Walmart") After seeing the site I said, " Oh..wow." And there ya go..my username was born. 😀

I hope I wouldn't hafta explain where mine comes from. 😉 Actually, when I joined the board I wanted something show-related and at the time was rewatching the 2 series'. I started to appreciate Xander a lot more. I mean, I always liked him but I never really placed emphasis on him. I'm more invested in him now than I ever have been. The biggest surprise to me was that the name wasn't taken already. I'm glad, cause it's a good screen name.

I adore telling this story!

I was at my grandparent's house and we were having a family dinner. My cousin decided to tell my sister and I the "true" story of how I came to be in my family. His story went something like this: he was browsing ebay one day and saw an add for a hobo named Zobo. The buy it now price was set at a penny. After reading the description, he decided that was too much.. but he was feeling generous so he bought me. When I arrived at his house on August 19th that year, he found he really didn't want me. It was a couple week's after his cousin's birthday so he decided to give me to her. She was too young to take care of me, so she gave me to my parents. August 19th became my birthday, my cousin became my cousin, my sister became my sister, and my parents became my parents. They thought Zobo was not a good name, so they renamed me Zoe. They also concluded I was about a year older than Maya, so they put my age at the year before her.

So zobothehobo is my original name by the story. 🙂

Mine, quite simply, is an abbreviation of my name. Wish I had an awesome story to go along with it, but... Well, I suppose I could always make one up.... *sneaky grin followed by arbitrary googling*

I'd always wondered about some of your usernames, haha.

Mine's (obviously 😀) a reference to 'Prophecy Girl'. It's an awesome episode and Buffy is my favorite character. And the grrl part is because 'Prophecygirl' was already taken (I think) and I really like the 'grrl' spelling of 'girl'. Shout out to riot grrrl music and feminism and grrrlvirus and stuff. that's about it. 😛

This is good, I like this. I love reading the reasons behind peoples usernames because I love usernames. Usernames help build friendships.

Anyway. Mine is quite random and simple despite my weird as username. I was browsing the internet and searched for a Buffy forum 'cause I really wanted to talk about the show with people. I found this one and I was filling out the forum. I got to 'username' and I didn't really know what to put. I thought it should have 'Buffy' in it since she is like...me. But I randomly found myself typing 'BananaBuffy'. Since then I've gotten a lot of cred for my name. When I made it my friends were like 'BananaBuffy? What the heck?' but everyone here loves it. so, yay!

Well, I'm pretty sure everyone in VH knows the story behind the username, cause I've told it at least three times. But for the rest of y'all, here it is for your listening pleasure.

I like to have matching usernames, and when I joined Winx-Fairies Forum, I picked LoveLoveLovix for the Winx reference because I didn't really have any active sites with active usernames at the time. It's a double Winx reference- Lovix is their latest power from the end of Season 4, and the first movie soundtrack has a song called "Stand Up" with the lyric, "No matter what you do, just do it with love, love, love."

Anyways, I like matching usernames. But ever since WFF flopped, I've been sort of thinking of requesting a change to Tabbyla Rasa. I know a couple people want that.

Well, I love princesses, Disney, real life ones, always wanted to become one, and I wanted to have something Buffy related. So, while I was registering on BB, I had a desktop background of Buffy in her wedding dress from Angel's dream, so I just decided it'll be Princess Buffy. Can't remember why I chose 16, though.

It's very simple. A character I love from a show that not enough people around here love. We're working on it though and making progress. 🙂

Simple. I name I used on other forums before this one - which is actually my real name - was taken when I got here. (Probably because I have the same first name as one of the main characters, and therefore the same nickname.) So, I wanted to be Illyria, but that was taken too. So, I improvised - Il - LYRI - a. Geddit? 😉

Mine is pretty boring and simple...It's my name lol...a shortened version of, that people call me 🙂

I use mine on a few other sites and didn't actually stop to think of a Buffy themed one when I joined. It's taken from a Leonard Cohen song, though there's also a band called Sisters of Mercy if I remember correctly. I've been using it ever since I heard the song on the radio and thought it was a good idea.

At first my name was Chocoslayer because people always call me Chocosomething (something always replaced by a another something) so it became a habit for me to be called Choco...something, depending on the context. I even remember writing in my presentation "I'm Chocoslayer. Because I slay chocolate everyday". Yeah.

Then I did another Buffy-rewatch and remembered how Mr Trick rocked, so I auto-proclamed myself his wife. I am now Ms.Trick. But my hubby was killed, by Faith (I hold a grudge against her since that morbid day).

But I was never for monogamy, so I'm thinking about changing to Ms.Trick-Rayne, like on Twitter, because I want to marry him too :heart:

My username is a combination of the shortened version of my name, Amanda, which my best friends call me and a nickname I acquired during my youth. My little cousin couldn't say my name, so he called me "Ameena," which according to my Italian-speaking uncles, sounds very similar to the slang word for boob in Italian. They teased me for it endlessly, but only use it occasionally nowadays (thankfully). I just decided to combine the two. It kinda flows-ish. 🙂

My username is obviously a reference to the episode "selfless" Which when I made the account I had just re-watched and was in love with 😀 Obviously 705 because its episode 5 of series 7 😀

I have been thinking of changing it too something about my "New" favorite episode "Older and Far Away" or something to do with Fred 😀

I've told this probably a hundred times, but it's my real life nickname since I was about 12 years old. Randi is my first name, and for some reason my friends tacked ann onto the end of it (not my middle name). I'm 25 now and done people still call me randiann.
