Hey everybody! Want to check in and introduce myself. I'm a huge Buffy fan and love to chat about the show 'cause no one else I know likes it. (Fools that they are).

10,000 posts for a custom avatar? I was informed that we could not have custom avatars.

Post counts are stupid, though. I treat everyone equally, no matter what their post count is. All post counts do is make a social seperation between the 'vetrens' and 'newbies'. They don't even represent how much of a contribution somoene has made. Anyone can go and post one worded/sentanced replies 100 times a day and get a high post count. Why should these people be treated any differently from people such as fan fic writers, who may not post frequently, but still contribute larger, good quality posts? I have around 10,000 posts at another forum, and there are many people with way less posts, that I consider to have made a bigger contribution than me.

Anyway, that's my rant of the day. 😛
 
Here, here, my Aussie friend! I agree completely. I intend to contribute (mostly) meaningful diatribes to this forum. Post count means nothing!😛

Oh, and in regard to the people you know not liking Buffy, they don't know what they're missing! Such fools! My friends don't like Buffy either, and they're always making of it. 😡 They're soooo naive. ::tilts nose up in air::

I totally agree. Im the highest poster, which, apart from embarassing me somtimes, "lol", doesnt make me think I'm better than anyone else. Because i read one of your posts, JenniLou (welcome, by the way 😉 "lol" , thats really what I'm here for!), and it was superb, really. I think i don't just write one sentence rubbish, and im actually quite proud of most of my posting (i hope I don't just write rubbish anyway, "lol" ), but I think some people who have low post counts write long fascinating views, and that therefore postcounts do not equal quality at all.
And welcome! Lol, im sure you'll love it here, and PM me for help or if you just wanna chat!

Hey JenniLou (aka The first person to reply to one of my threads that everybody else has neglected to notice - hey i'm not mad🙄, but y'all better start skootin' your butts over to the Cast & Characters of Buffy forum.)

Anyway, back to my welcome. Please don't hate me because I have a somewhat high post count, but I have been here for about 5 months. Although, there are others who have higher than me. I'm pretty sure nobody treats me different, and I like that. We're all here for the same reason, and post counts doesn't make us a bigger fan than others. Everybody is super sweet here. I hope you have a great time, and I look forward to reading the ideas and thoughts you have to share.

Wow! Thanks everyone. Sure am feeling welcome already. I love that I have people to chat about 'Buffy', 'cause I have nowhere else to do so.

The way you set vbulletin to not allow custom avatars is to set it to 10,000 posts. We in fact do not allow them except for mods. 🙂

Now my 11 cents on post count and why we have it on here. Yes, it shouldn't matter. And it doesn't matter. People spam anyway, lol, but that usually gets deleted. I know for a fact that if we take post count off the boards, there would be an uproar. As an example, there was a time on after-darkness where we didn't count the posts in the introduction forum towards post count. And hardly anyone posted in there. What does that tell you?

What I personally like about post count and why we show it on here, is really for newbies. When you're new, and aren't sure how things work etc, you need to know who knows what's going on and who is new just like you. You can get an idea of this from post count. When I am new at a board, I gauge who to ask questions, who to believe what they say, who knows what their talking about by their post count. That's not fool proof of course, but it is helpful to new people. At least it is to me. 🙂
 
No argument here...I don't mind post count at all, but there times when the boards seem cluttered with nugatory posts as if a member is simply tyring to increase their count. But we live in an imperfect world and we all must compromise. I'm just happy to have a place to discuss my favorite series with fellow fans. And this forum is fantastic and easy to navigate. And as for the custom avatars--I don't really care. You guys got a lot of great pics to choose from. So thanks for setting up this place--everyone did a great job!😀
 
I agree with you Jennie - I don't like it when there are lots of pointless posts on boards, and we try to to keep that to a minimum here 🙂

I'd have to agree with you all...i don't care about post counts, infact i don't even know my post count 😱 i haven't checked it for awhile.

oo a post count discussion..nice!!...i will not say anything as from experience the post count thingy will never be resolved as some like it and some don't. it is a discussion that could go on forever, however for a complete newbie to board life i think it is a good way of helping to grasp board life...😀

I agree though post counts don't mean much, its the contents of your posts that matters.

Lol, jenni has been doing that, ive noticed - I LIKE IT! Hehe. I accept post counts but i, rather than looking to increase mine, would rather any from now on didnt count, coz, if im truthful, i dont like being the top poster. I find it, well, embarassing coz some people assume that im a) really sad coz they think im on the net 24/7 (trust me - im on for like 3/4hrs a wk) or b) that i always spam - again, id like to think, not true.
Anywayz, heres to jenni and her continuation of posting here because i just ::heart:: reading her views!!! They put my brain to shame! Lol.
