I have a friend that says they cancelled the show without ending the season.
There was supposed to be a two-part something-or-other episode but they didn't show it at all...

(Eliza should have brought out her Faith persona and beat the crap out of the TV execs for that)

They didn't finish the rest of season 2 because not enough people were watching the show so the cancelled straight away... it sucks i know... we should make a petition about it and send it to them!!! Well that is really all i know about so if anyone knows anything else about please feel free to add!

Given the first season ratings it was a minor miracle that Fox renewed it at all. When they did and the ratings fell again with the first episode of season 2 it was only a matter of time before it got the axe. It was never going to make a full second season on Fox. Not a chance in hell!

Yeah, it was cut off just a bit into the season. I think they had even filmed/had ready six episodes, and they were going to show them, but never did. So we didn't even get to see the ones that were ready to be seen.

I thought it was bogus, but yet understandable. Like the Watcher said, I'm suprised that it even made it to season two.

I am so furious that they ended it without a proper ending. Not only was there no proper ending, but loads of cliffhangers. If they are going to renew it for another season, COMPLETE THE SEASON!!

Yeah... but I'm with the Watcher here... as much as I love Eliza... this show wasn't good... always the same thing etc etc...

I read somewhere that they want to show reruns with the missing ones of season 2
I'm from Germany and they showed all 2 seasons and I have to say the best episodes are the last 2-3 episodes of season 2. So I hope you'll get to see those too ;-)

The series 2 episodes have just started showing on sky one here in the uk, but i bought them on dvd ages ago so i dont really care lol but thought others might so thought i'd mention it

I like this show, but I saw not complete 1st season, because it isn't shown in Russia.
It's so pity, it stopped in so interesting place.
I think it's very original show!

Here's what happened with Tru Calling.

It's ratings were never spectacular, BUT they were ALWAYS pretty even and the show never dropped significantly. Also, fans and critics were liking the direction the show took in the second half of the season, saying it was the most improved show of the year, etc. So FOX took the high road (at first) and basically ordered a second season because they wanted to prove to viewers they were willing to give their "cult" shows a chance and let Tru develop a larger audience. They ordered 13 episodes, with the idea being that they'd order more if ratings improved at all.

Then, during the summer, something obviously happened and FOX decided to bail on Tru even though they had no real reason too. Partly it was due to "Point Pleasant"...they seemed to only want ONE genre series on the schedule, and they felt that a NEW show had a better chance. In fact, PP has a LOT of the same crew as Tru did. So they ended production on Tru which was filming it's sixth episode.

When Point Pleasant failed (which was sad, as I love PP AND Tru) they decided they would air the six episodes. Ironically, the show had virtually NO promotion whatsoever yet premiered to the same number of viewers that it was averaging in season one...a little more that 4.5 million viewers. And then they pulled the sixth episode because it was April and the last one was a Christmas-themed episode. *sigh*

So despite what Tru haters may say, and what FOX believed in the beginning, this show's viewers were LOYAL...otherwise those five season two episodes would not have kept all its viewers from season one. And the show *was* getting better and better all the time.

And BTW, I'd like to add that it's not fair that people insult the fact that the show had no true arcs during the first half of the season. It was more along the lines of the writers doing viewers a favor. I mean, they had no reason to believe there was a real chance of being picked up for an entire season, so why introduce a villain for Tru early on? Why get into the really heavy arc stufff? That's why it's all introduced in episode 14, which is the first episode made after FOX's initial 13-episode pickup.
