Okay, I'm the only one in my family who can use computers, so I can't ask any of them, so ya know, you guys, please help! I'm getting so angry at my computer! First I tried to put songs on Windows Media Player and it said that they wouldn't work, then I tried to put songs onto my phone via bluetooth, but it said the bluetooth wasn't connected, even though it is, then, the icing on the cake, everytime I try and upload videos to windows movie maker it says: 'cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.' what the hecky is going on?!? And what should I do about it?

Well, the problem with the codec, I recommend installing xVid or Divx if you are trying to import avi files, other than that FFDshow is quite good as well as it covers a whole range of formats & their codecs.

Not sure about the Bluetooth issue as I've only ever used my Bluetooth adapter a couple of times, so without specifics can't be of help with that.

Also without knowing the format of the songs you were trying to play with Windows Media player I don't know what the solution would be.

The exact same thng happened to me one time a while back. For some reason the system was just malfunctioning and had lost all codecs and ability to use any media. Eventually what I had to do was click system restore to the point of the day before and everything went back to normal

If I were you I'd run a virus check and check for spyware as well in case you've acquired something nasty which has caused your problems.

If you're having trouble with media files like .avi or .mp3 etc. I'd recommend downloading the media player VLC - VLC media player - Overview. It will pretty much play anything you care to chuck at it without having to mess about with codecs.

Have you tried turning the computer off and on again?

Yep, it's been like that for a while. I'm trying to install a new codec, and my brother sorted out the bluetooth, so hopefully. Thanks for helpin' guys 🙂
