What's your biggest fear?

I think my biggest fear used to be death, but that's when I was younger, I just had this thought in my head, "I'm not going to be me anymore, I won't be in this world anymore." I used to have alot of silly fears as a kid though, like, I'd be scared of airplanes flying too low, and imagining I had unknown diseases.
But, I don't feel like that now. Now, I'd say my biggest fear is lonliness, not so much lonliness, more like not being able to make a connection with anyone. That's my biggest fear.

Oh that's a kinda new for me. Having recently been on fire myself lol (seriously) I get real skittish round flames now, especially candles. I can almost feel the flames licking at my skin again...argh!

I would also like to add this thread to my list...it's scaring the bejesus out of me!

(The sight of all those candles on my last birthday cake was pretty frightening, I can assure you!)

But seriously, my age, combined with recent illness and the first hand experience of dealing with insurance companies and their reluctance to pay on claims has caused me to be more aware of the possibility that I might leave my family, especially my wife, less than well provided for in the event of my death, or even worse, long term hospitalization and ongoing medical treatment.

Well, there's a range of things I'm scared of. First of all there's the fear of losing control over the only thing that has actually done something positive for me, namely, my brain. Mental illness, schizophrenia, or even very high fever and anaesthetics scare the living daylights out of me. Then I fear being alone, in the sense that Spoons described; not being able to connect with people. Being afraid of this is a bit unfortunate for me since I'm more often than not in a situation where I actually can't connect with people due to my issues communication that are leftovers from the time I was bullied in school. Related to this is the fear of being left alone. Because, you see, when I'm left alone I, subconciously and all, feel that those people leaving aren't simply going somewhere else, but that they are actually leaving me, because they think I'm stupid. It's very silly, but I even feel like that when I'm only alone here, because people are at uni or something.
And then there's the petty fears, like knives in combination with the white bits that connect muscle to bone (tendons?), like in your neck and achilles heel, and spiders that are to big to simply crush but to small to be extremely fascinating.
