I just got done watching this today and i've loved it. Almost every episode was great. Its a very close choice but my favorite was probably Out of Gas. But Ariel and Objects in Space are a close 2nd and 3rd.
I loved the ones with the redheaded girl Saffron in them too, Our Mrs Reynolds and Trash.
So what was your favorite?

Lou needs to konk you since it took you this long to watch it. ;) But better late than never.
Not a bad episode in this series, which is probably why I consider it so great even despite the fact that it didn't last long at all. But Ariel was the one that really stood out for me.

Imo The Message was the only one that wasn't great. It had some good moments but was majorly spoiled by that Knox guy. Cant stand him, he talks like Forest Gump. And when he kept sayin ''when you cant walk, you crawl, and when you cant crawl blah blah blah'' 20 times i was thinking i cant wait till he just dies already.
Anyway, rest of series was top notch, not Buffy/Angel, but still great. 🙂

Ahahaha.. WAT U LIKE, BILLY.
See, I think it's not in Buffy/Angel league, only because it's only 14 episodes. But place Firefly against the first fourteen episodes of either Buffy or Angel and it blows both out of the water. It could have been so great had it kept going.

It was amazing. But i'd say its maybe just as good as Buffy season one. But to me, Angel s1 is better than Firefly and Buffy s1 combined.
I would say Firefly is possibly better than seasons 3 and 4 of Angel, and as good as Buffy seasons 1 and 7.
It's a real pity though about only 14 episodes, there was so much potential.

Well, however you rank them, they're all better than Dollhouse.
I voted for The Message, though I think that Objects in Space would come in a close second.

The Message started out funny but ended so sad. Especially since the funeral at the end was the last scene of the show filmed. 🙁

I agree though, amazing show, still haven't seen the movie, but I wish it had gone longer.

I think The Message has the best line of the show: "What'd ya'll order a dead guy for?"

It's hard to say which episode is my favorite though. Like Revolver said, they're all awesome! Jaynestown is always fun so maybe that one.

I voted for 'Out of Gas', for me it had the best stand alone plot (since Firefly was a series of stand-alones), and we all got to know the characters much better.

I voted for Out of Gas. I thought it had everything in it, such a great episode of any TV show. I loved the whole family feel of the crew, and you really got to see that in this one, especially with them all at the dinner table with Simon's birthday cake.

As already been said, not a bad episode in this series.

I finally decided to choose the pilot as my favorite.
It was a close call though... especially Out of Gas has always stood out for me. Love the end when Mal sees Serenity for the first time.

Firefly could easily been the best show ever.
But I totally agree with Revolver. Because of its short run I find it hard to compare it against other more long running shows.

/SK

I can't say that it's better than the others but since it was the episode that made me realise that I loved the show the first time I watched it I voted for Jaynestown.

I have watched the season boxset i have a few times. I think I am stuck between Jaynestown and out of gas. Both for completely different reasons.

The plot and the build up to out of gas in the previous episodes.

And you gotta love the man they call Jayne song lol and plus the issue this brings up of people needing something to believe in. Like when Jayne and Mal talk about it at the end of the episdoe.

umm which to tick...

I voted for "Our Mrs. Reynolds" simply because I thought it had some of the best one-liners in the show including "I call her Vera"....😉 But "Out of Gas" ran a very close second because of the insight it gave us into how some of hte others came to be on the ship....close call...

Hard choice; but I went for 'Out Of Gas' because I absolutely adored that episode.

Out of Gas, absolutely. It's a really emotionally charged episode and wonderfully directed.

I do have a fondness for Shindig though, i think it's a pretty funny episode.

I voted "Ariel", although I was torn between that, "Our Mrs. Reynolds", and "Jaynestown". Joss and co can really bring out the pain, but I love the funnier stories, and the ones with YoSafBridge were the funniest. It was just so much fun watching the crew pull off the big heist in "Ariel", and it was great to get more insight into what happened to River.

"Out of Gas", "Ariel", and "Our Mrs. Reynolds" are close, but "Objects in Space" takes the cake for me. A focus on River, the magnificent Summer Glau. I really love this episode. The writing is absolutely perfect, and the villain in this episode is awesome! A really slow-paced episode, but it gives me chills every time I watch it. Definitely one of the best Whedon episodes ever, IMO!

I voted for "Shindig" because that always seems to be my go-to episode, but it was a very hard choice. "Out Of Gas" is certainly up there. Personally, I think all the episodes are excellent in the series.

As for why I chose "Shindig"; I love anything that has fancy dress parties and sword fighting. And I love the interactions between Mal and Inara in this episode. They are such an awesome un-couple. I love how he defends her honor in front of Atherton.

Becky *hearts* Malara.
