I'd have to say shindig so far, alothough i haven't seen the whole series. Actually i was going to buy it yesterday but ended up buying s1 of dollhouse instead.

Shoot, I voted for The Train Job but forgot how awesome Out of Gas was. I need to go back and rewatch...
 
I know it seems to be the majority opinion around here, and I hate to seem unoriginal, but gotta say Out of Gas. A spellbinding and wonderful hour of television and a genuine heartfelt love story about a man and his boat. Love it.

Was close to voting for the pilot, which I think is one of the best openers to a television series I have ever seen. After watching it for half an hour I realised something, that it was one of the best things I'd ever seen and it's not often I get that when watching the opening episode to a show, it usually takes me an episode or two before I settle in, but with Firefly I was there, a browncoat for life, but I settled for Out of Gas, everything about it, the peformances, the flashbacks and the music score, just works so well.
 
I voted Ariel because I love Simon and River, the hi-tech hospital and Serenity crew in that outfit with caps. But I also love Jaynestown, Out of Gas, Trash and Objects in Space.
 
Jaynestown ftw!! That is what I voted. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw it. 😀 [hearing the entire pub break out into Jayne's tribute song]

I voted for Out Of Gas, but I've gotta give a shout out to Ariel, Jaynestown, Trash and The Message. It was a tough choice.

Oh and The Message had one of the best River scenes!

I voted for The Message, just because it was one of the most moving episodes, in my opinion. Plus, it has one of my favorite quotes from Firefly: "When you can't run, you crawl, and when you can't crawl, when you can't do that.... you find someone to carry you."

Plus, the repetition with the tape was just really well done and a great touch.
 
Now that I've seen the entire series, it was tough for me to choose between "Safe", "Shindig", "Ariel", "Out of Gas", or "War Stories". Eventually I chose War Stories.... I loved the interaction between Wash and Mal in this episode. At first you think Mal's being a heartless bastard and then you realize he was doing that to keep Wash mad enough that he would fight for Zoe. Aww....

It's Shindig for me, all the way. It's where I got my name for goodness sake ! It has some brilliant jokes & the connection between Mal & Inara becomes really palpable.

Inara - Besides, why would I want to leave Serenity?
Mal - Can't think of a reason

Neither can I Mal.
 
Objects In Space - I just think it's beautiful. The sequence at the beginning, going through the ship from River's point of view, is spellbinding. Actually, River's amazing throughout the entire episode.

Ariel and Out Of Gas are close runners up.
 
hard choice - I went with the pilot but it was difficult. I was swaying between the pilot, Out of gas and Objects in space
