What hobbies do you have?

I try and do crafting, making cards, learning to sew and badly attempting to knit! I would like to get into photography more as well.

Photoshop is totally my biggest hobby. To the point of insanity. I'm hoping to turn the hobby into some actual money-making one day. I'm in the process of building a portfolio for school.

I collect and restore antique radios. It can be like an archaeological dig where you go back in time (my oldest two sets with a confirmed manufacturing date are from 1925). Some of them were built to a price, some of them were attempts at the ultimate performance, cost be damned and some had interesting quirks of design. For the original sets, you didn't just go into a store and buy a radio. You bought the radio separately from the tubes, the A battery for the filaments, the B battery for the plate supply, the C battery for grid bias, the speaker and/or headphones, the antenna and the ground. The Freshman Masterpiece was the first radio to be mass-produced and introduced radio to a lot of people:

The three large dials are tuning dials - they did not have ganged controls at this point. The smaller controls are for filament voltage, the left one for the audio amplifier stages, the right one for the RF amplifiers and the grid-leak detector. The ON/OFF switch is in the middle just above the name and the loudspeaker jack is on the left and the headphone jack is on the right. The top lid is hinged at the back to allow access to the tubes and batter, ground and antenna connections.

Honestly, I'm pretty rubbish at hobbying. I can usually never stay interested in one thing. I've built a few PCs for myself over the years but now I have a laptop I have no need for a big tower (even though I do still have one)

I have written a few novels for NaNoWriMo and I really want to get my sci-fi novel from 2015 published, so I'm planning to get back to writing/editing it. I'm nervous about contacting publishers, as I know I'll get rejected a lot, but as Buffy says "Be Brave".

Something I'd actually really love to do is start a new podcast channel separate from the boards. I have a few ideas (mainly to do with movies) but I'm just trying to get something together. I have really discovered a love for the medium, so I hope I can branch out to having my own weekly show (and still do ours, of course. 😉)

Erm , gaming for sure . I ve been into it since I saw my first arcade game in the early/mid 1970s . I grew up with gaming and though I don't spend money on it like I used to ,it's still an hour or so every day .

Cricket . I loooove cricket , follow England fairly regularly on the internet and radio . It used to be just a summer thing for me but as I ve got older I ve spent more time on it in the winter . Naturally the internet has really helped me indulge my passion too . At some ungodly hour most winters I ll be listening and watching England on tour .

Smokeless Tobacco . I was a fullon vaper for quite a few years , then gradually switched over to nasal snuff and Swedish snus . I m quite into it . I think I must have a couple of hundred types of nasal snuff from all over the world in reach . At last count I had about 13 kilo (twentyeight pounds )of nasal snuff in a dedicated upright fridge freezer . Sounds a bit crazy I know , but snuff is currently taxfree in the UK and the laws recently changed on Tobacco Products in the EU . I had to stock up on some fairly unique imports 🙂 .

This is what I m snuffing right now . This gem is out of Gidderbaha in India made by a company called sixphoto

It's pretty damn strong but I think it's one of the finest quality snuffs in the world being made today.

I am a member of the London Vintage Radio Club where radios trade back and forth at low prices. I get others at garage sales, some at antique auctions, some at antique stores, one on Kijiji and some are given to me because I am known to be a collector. I have never dealt with eBay because I know once I set up an account, I would bankrupt myself in a few months. It is a buyer's market because radio hoarders are running out of room in their own homes and they are willing to sell cheap. Soon that will be me.

Oh I have a blog, I guess that's a hobby and I'm starting to grow fruit and veg in my garden, so I guess those and gimp are hobbies as well. Huh guess I have more things than I thought!

I collect coins. I have at least one coin from every recognised country in the world (along with some unrecognised ones & ones that no longer exist).
I have been collecting for many years & probably have in the region of 40,000 coins all told in my collection.....it's been a long time since I last counted 😕

I'm also a big NASCAR fan (yes we do know about it outside the US 😛 ) & spend most Sunday evenings streaming the races.
As a hobby I build replica NASCAR cars, & now have quite an extensive collection of them.......

Oh, & if doing all that & spending half my life on here leaves me any spare time I paint plastic figures......just for relaxation really..... 😎

Not sure I'd qualify riding horses as a hobby since it's more a way of life 😛 (tips: never date a barn girl, you'll regret it).

My other hobbies are pretty typical. Video games, reading. I used to like doing a whole bunch of sports but I stopped years ago to focus on other stuff.

The Swedish snus is a tiny little teabag or lump of putty that you slip into your upper gumline . It can be very strong for a smoker at first but it's the weapon of choice for many quitter smokers . You re in the UK Gwen ? If so these fellas are probably the easiest source of fresh snus to try . Buy Snus Online, Free Shipping to EU and worldwide - Snusline

Nasal snuff is a powder that you inhale gently into the front of your nose . It matches a cigarette addiction quite nicely in terms of nicotine delivery ...yet for much less weight of tobacco . Hitting it hard , I take about 5 grams of snuff a day ....5 cigs worth ..literally pennies to maintain a tobacco habit . It isn't the cleanest habit in the world though . Those five cigs come back out in your tissues . 😀

Both methods are as about as 'safe' as the addiction can be . Swedish snus is pasteurized and is just about the safest form of tobacco on the planet .
Statistics struggle to measure the low risks associated with nasal snuff but it definitely aint much 😀

If you re serious to quit smoking without losing your love of tobacco Gwen , then this might be for you . I would suggest you start on an ecig , with a supplementary 9mg snus and see how you go . If you struggle use a 14mg snus instead and so on , upping the strength until you forget to use your ecig 🙂 .

My preferred choices are a good strength snuff and a mild (9mg) loose snus .

You can get snuff from several reputable UK firms , MySmokingShop , Snuffme.co.uk and Snuffstore.co.uk are all excellent sources .

I certainly didn't know non Americans liked NASCAR because I'm an American and a huge sports fan but even I don't like NASCAR. That's pretty cool though.
As for my hobbies, it's mostly sports and writing. I do a lot of writing, sometimes about Buffy and sometimes about nothing.

I'm actually into most saloon car racing, British Touring Car Championship, DTM, Aussie V8's & NASCAR. But NASCAR is by far my favourite 🙂
As for other US sports I used to follow American football but no TV channel I get covers it any more....(it's all gone pay-per-view & I don't love it that much).

I write a bit too (not very well, but it keeps me amused) but only Buffy fic......never tried anything else.

As for myself- Muso here. Drums, guitar and bass. I song write. I go to the gym a lot and skateboard (badly) Also occasionally fiction write (also badly) Love martial arts but haven't done it for a while.

M hobbies change like the weather! I used to play bass a lot but gave that up, and now with my free time I mostly knit & crochet or play video games. I also love listening to obnoxious music.
