Black Eye Guy
Taking over the World!
Ok, I love Empire Strikes Back! It's my favorite film in the Star Wars saga. I also love Joss Whedon, because he's a freakin' talented writer and director. So the fact that Whedon has a problem with Empire is kind of mind-blowing for me! I'm not sure how to take it. Whedon's big problems with the film is its ending, and he explains why that is in a interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"Empire committed the cardinal sin of not actually ending. Which at the time I was appalled by and I still think it was a terrible idea."
When pressed further he said,
"Well, it's not an ending. It's a Come Back Next Week, or in three years. And that upsets me. I go to movies expecting to have a whole experience. If I want a movie that doesn't end I'll go to a French movie. That's a betrayal of trust to me. A movie has to be complete within itself, it can't just build off the first one or play variations."
I thought the ending for Empire was great! I never had an issue with it, and I never thought I would disagree with Whedon on something. He makes a valid point, and I can see why he feels that way, but I don't agree with it. I liked how Empire ended. I am curious, however, to find out how Whedon would have ended the film.
What do you think about Whedon's opinion on the ending of Empire?

I like Joss, and a lot of his quotes like these are often jokes, but he usually indicates that quite clearly which doesn't seem to be the case here.
This make me want to bash him on the head! I dont care about Star Wars, but this is exactly what he did with Angel!!
He decided to give Angel a message rather then give us any closure for characters.
