Pointy's "eps to look out for" are "Dalek", "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances" and "Bad Wolf"/"The Parting of the Ways" but it's all good...oh, and "The Christmas Invasion" is a cracker (pun intended 😉) as well but I doubt they'd show that as part of the first season...
You don't need to be steeped in the show's mythos and history to enjoy it IMO but I reckon it would enhance your enjoyment if you had a bit of background.

It's quite lighthearted most of the time and you can easily miss an ep or two and still get the entire story.... but you better not... or else:

Oh mate, i nearly wet my pants...not with wee wee, but i had a coke on my lap::dance::....when The Dalek turned up in that one episode....
Ohh and don't get me started on the Anne Robotison in the second to last episode.....or 'Are you my Mummy'...scared the bejesus out of me.
Again i say it...America you lucky lucky people...Thank the Lord for DVD's, BBC3 and UKTV Gold(all let me watch the first season alot...lol)
