at Starfury convention in London at weekend. Clearly: spoilers 3:16, although it's only a smidge on the concept of the movie. But spoilerphobes will want to avoid.

Have to say I'd much rather see Serenity becoming a trigoly than a Buffy or Angel movie. Or Spike for that matter.

Yeah I agree, I'd would much rather see More Serenitys then Buffy or angel and Especially Spike!

Joss is the one who would make this film and honestly, I see no sign of anyone really wanting to back him on it and Joss also seems to take his time when it comes to his own works furthering.

Lest we forget all the Buffyverse spins and TVMs he promised.
 
Just in case someone didn't actually click the link I'll tell you what it's about.

This guy went to the Starfury convention where Jewel Staite (Kaylee) and Sean Maher (Simon) appeared. He posted a description of the Q&A to his live journal.

According to him one of the questions fielded by Jewel went "What do you think will happen to the characters". The live journal guy described what followed thusly.

I think Jewel's brain must have entered catatonic shock at this point as she then divulged a bit about what Joss has said to her about Serenity 2. The plan is to start it off with a very shocking first five minutes and then the rest of the movie is a flashback to show how we reached that point. Now this seems a nifty idea, particularly as it means we can spend some quality time with both Book and Wash without this being being the standard sappy blurry memory shots that such scenes normally are. Of course now I'm hyper curious as to what the shocking scene would be. Serenity exploding? Someone getting shot? One BDH shooting another? River and Inara being caught in flagrante? Anyway, intriguing possibilities. However this did rather step on my question which was to ask if they'd still appear in the sequel if their character was to be killed on page 1. Jewel looked a bit shocked at the idea and Sean was equally bemused, even when I clarified that it would be opening titles and then him going *splttt* (told you I made a farting noise in front of them). Sean said yes, he'd appear even if it was just to be squished; Jewel was still keen to survive till page 101.

It does sound like he's talking about something that's imminent doesn't it? Unless he's talking about a book, or comic (which he may be), I don't know what he's talking about.
