I see the link to Whedonesque is dead. Usually that means it's been investigated, and found to be bogus, or the story has already been covered, but here's the quote from an interview Rob Thomas did at the Banff World Television Festival.

Of course, this doesn't mean Thomas is bidding farewell to Neptune.

"I have some ambition to write a screenplay, see if I can shop that and get it made," he says. "And I had a meeting with DC Comics last Monday and they want to do (Season 4) as a comic series."

I thought the idea of Veronica Mars being a comic was a bit weird at first, but I actully think it's a really good idea now. I see something a little bit darker than the original show, or maybe just more like the pilot/first season...

I wonder if Rob would have come up with this idea if it wasn't for Joss doing seaon 8 in comics though.

I think the link at Whedonesque may have been removed for reasons of relevance rather than whether or not the story is true or not, N4H. I know the mods there have been questioning just how much Veronica Mars stuff to allow on the front page, given the very limited Whedonverse connections these days.

I have heard this rumour in a number of places in the last day or two so who knows? To be honest I was barely interested in the television show so this would certainly be one comic book television continuation that I gave a miss.

Come to think of it didn't they already post a thread on how Thomas wanted to do a Serenity - meaning film from a failed series. That makes sense that they would say "That's enough of that". There's also another thread up there right now about VM being cancelled so maybe the comic thing is mentioned there. I haven't checked.

I noticed Numfar PTB said something along the lines that the Veronica Mars cancellation thread would likely be the last VM headline you would see at Whedonesque. Technically he is only officially a mod over at Whedonesque.org but I'd imagine he has reason to say what he did.

I've been quite surprised on just how much VM stuff has been allowed to stay on the front page in recent months. Joss has mentioned a love of several shows over the years (BSG being another that springs to mind) but only VM has been given the rather unique honour of getting front page status even without a direct current Whedonverse link. Although it looks as if that honour has now come to an end.

I actually love this idea. A Veronica Mars comic. At first I thought it was so weird but, I think it could be awesome actually.. Mhm.. (Oh god I wonder what the comic version of Mac would look like!)

I love Veronica Mars, but to me the show was its cast and style. I don't think they can capture that with a comic. Kristen Bell *is* Veronica Mars. But if I hear good things about the comic I'll probably eventually check it out.
