I was wondering if any of you guys were members of Whedonesque? I'm on there as Arcane (shocking change of pace, huh? 😉). I joined ages ago but my posting there has been a little sporadic. It's a cool enough site but you don't feel as free to speak your mind there due to the board rules being... how can I put this politely... overly strict, making it seem a little restrictive.

Anyway, I don't remember ever seeing any familiar Buffy Board usernames around there so I thought I'd ask and see if anyone else was a member and what you thought about the place?
 
Not a member. I check it out every other day. Most folks on there seem like smart, seriously hardcore geeks, heh. I've yet to find a better place for Joss news, Buffyverse updates.
 
I've gone there for years. Sometimes I just read the news they link to. Sometimes I just read the user comments. Sometimes I read both.

I don't mind the restrictions. I go there to read intelligent posts. As long as they supply them, I don't care how they do it. If people want to indulge personal quirks there are other boards they can register at to do that.

I prefer the clean blog style for news to something like say whedon.info with all the popups, and the stories that aren't linked clearly to their actual source so they they can make it seem like they created the items. I get the feeling Whedonesque actually cares about the subject, and isn't just out to get hits to justify advertisements.

I tried to register a couple of times, but they were restricting registrations during those particular periods.
 
Ive looked at it a couple of times but it confuses me so I just get bored and look at something else 🙂

Can you see me with an account. I'd get banned after about 5 posts. Which would beat my current record. About 12 posts is the fastest I've ever been banned from a forum.
 
Actually, Dzhug, I have a friend with an account he never uses anymore. Want me to see if I can get his password off him and see just how quickly you can get a ban fom a website?

Given what I know of you and of the mods at Whedonesque, I give you two posts... maximum. 🙂
 
I have faith in Dzhoog. He could do it one, and get that one deleted. 🙂
 
If my intent was to get banned then it would probably be one post. I just meant if I joined it and was myself then they'd ban me pretty quickly. TWoP banned me after 17 posts. They're pretty strict too.

Oh, I was talking about you just posting in your usual way too. Trust me, at Whedonesque that would probably still be enough to bring about a record time banning, hehe.

I know what you mean Arcane,i felt the same with Buffy World.Which is why i never ever go there, anyway i tried to join Whedonesque but the membership always seems to be closed, so i just go there to read,not now though there'd always be someone that would get my goat on there.

The reason that my posting at Whedonesque has always been so hit and miss is because when I do post I have to bite my lip so much of the time rather than say what I want to say. There are certain people that post there who seem to feel like they own the place. It has definately got a feeling of an inner circle going on with a number of the members.

I suppose that is fair enough. I mean, to newbies it must seem like us longterm Buffy Board members have a pretty tight circle but I think the difference here is that we do try and welcome new members whereas at Whedonesque they can treat new posters quite snottily, especially if they dare to disagree or step out of line.

Don't get me wrong. I've posted there for quite a long time and there are a lot of really nice people with good opinions so it isn't all bad. There are just a small number who make the place seem very elitist, in my opinion.

i get the impression there too and that's just reading the posts!
Id like to see them act like that about my opinions. I suspect Id get banned pretty quickly 🙂

Oh yeah! Although I suspect you might manage one more post than Dzhug before getting banned... if you are feeling particularly happy that day! 😉
