Joan the Vampire Slayer
Carpe Spuffy!
Wow, nice sentiments. Interesting that he's not one of your favorites, yet you still acknowledge what an extraordinary character he is.Spike isn't one of my favourite characters. I mean I like the guy but I was never crazed about him or love every episode he stars in (Though I did love him so much more in Season 5 of Angel), but I really feel he was an amazing character and so multi-layered to the point it's hard to believe he is completely and utterly fictional. But when you look from William in the 1800s to Spike in School Hard to the self-sacrifice in Chosen and all the different things he went through to get there it's like WHOA. You can have a full on discussion/debate about Spike irrelevant of whether you like him or not- he has so many personal conflicts and a constant white knight persona that shines through and made us forget rather often that he was a demon at the core. I could go on a lot more but I've gotta stop somewhere.
Most people who dislike Spike for whatever reason seem to take every opportunity to put his character down and downplay his achievements.
Topher is the character I feel wins the metal for character development and evolution when it comes to 'Dollhouse', but Adelle is definitely one of my favorites. I always wondered how she got involved in the DH in the first place...and she was wicked smart! She had the best comebacks.2. Adelle DeWitt
I'll admit she is my favourite character in Dollhouse (Alongside Topher of course. Love that guy) but it seems I also think she's one of Whedon's greatest. Like Spike she's a character of many layers- it's hard to ever fully categorize Adelle until the very end of the series. She constantly walks a fine line between what is essentially good and evil and how her character deals with her choices, decisions and life and how that slowly changes her etc is just really....cool to see. First impression is definitely cool bitch, but then there's also the fact she's uber-intelligent but uber-naive at times, selfish (when she's willing to sacrifice Echo to Alpha to save her own life) yet utterly selfless (when she wants to set the bomb off instead or along with Topher in the finale)...and she wears killer outfits.
