Whedon's New Show - Dollhouse

Well, we all knew it was inevitable at this point. Let's all hope this strike mess is sussed out sooner rather than later.........



Joss Whedon: No welcome to the "Dollhouse," for now.


A week ago, Joss Whedon was celebrating Fox’s seven-episode pickup of “Dollhouse,” his new drama starring Eliza Dushku.

But this Wednesday, Whedon hit the picket line, even while fighting a cold and sipping chicken soup from a thermos.

“I have no conflict about this,” said Whedon, whose new creation will now be put on hold. “It’s not hard for me. The issues we’re talking about are so crucial.”

Whedon said he believed the studios were “hungry” for a strike.

“This is a chance for them to break us,” Whedon said. “I don’t know their reasoning for not wanting to pay (Internet residuals). I understand they have to take a firm stand.”

But Whedon said he didn’t think the percentage of Internet revenue the writers are asking for is unreasonable.

“If they don’t get anything, we don’t,” he said. “The only way we make a lot of money off this is if they make a huge amount of money.”

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I haven't been called a "young" man in a long time, lol.
It doesn't really bother me that much that the strike will probably put "Dollhouse" on hold until next fall (I'm hoping it will be over by January) because a fall launch would mean more promotion...but then again I'd just as rather them hold it off for January 2009 if it meant they would air it behind "American Idol".
 
This is some of the best news ever!

Right now, I am shaking in my boots over the thought that the writer's strike might do in my beloved soap operas. This news was just what I needed. A new Joss show might - might - make a soapless world a little more bearable. Of course, the best of both world could also happen: soaps stay on the air AND we get a new Joss show.

I've decided not to be negative about this. I'll give Fox a second change. Yeah, they did Joss wrong with Firefly. But maybe they'll learn from that with Dollhouse.

We know we get Joss and Tim. Any other favorite scribes you'd like to see brought on board? I, personally, am a fan of Jane Espenson.

Jane would be great. This would be a good forum for her goofy fantasy kinda stuff. How about Drew Goddard. Brian K. Vaughan.

I wonder if and how the writers strike will shake up the writing teams on all the various shows.
 
I wonder if the writers strike will put a stop to this alltogether.

Otherwise like goldenboy said I'd love to see Jane writing for this, it would be ideal for her. Granted I don't know what the feel of the show is going to be, but I'm hoping it will have more of a quirky yet dark side and not feel too much like Dark Angel, something I for some ungodly reason fear it will do.
 
Sounds awesome. And *I* sound wacky, when I read it I squeled [sp] and my family think I'm weird 😛 Anywho, can't wait for it to come on. I just hope it'll be on a TV channel I have, because I wanted to see Bones when it came out but we don't have Sky1 *prays it's on a channel I have* 😛
 
I can't wait for it.Whedon's new Fox series, called Dollhouse, stars Miss Eliza Dushku, best known as Faith to you Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans. And this show isn't just a pilot. It's already been given a seven-episode commitment by Fox. Woo!
 
I can't wait till this ****ing strike ends so Whedon can rule television once again. Lately everyone's been just doing what Whedon did during Buffy.
 
Let's just hope FOX doesn't screw around with Joss like they did with him and Firefly. FOX, my sniper rifle is set on you! :coolman:

I'd love to see tons of old Buffy/Angel people return.

Joss, Tim, Marti, Brian K Vaughn, Jane, etc.

They should just all remain together and do tons of shows together. Dollhouse, a Faith spin-off, and more. 🙂

While i'm really glad that we have a Joss project to get excited about i'm not quite sure on what I think on this one.

Its a certain i'll watch the first few eps to see how it goes but its not making me all jump in my seat. Yes I know i'll be strung up for this but i'm a bit 'meh' about it.

Chances are that will change but for now i'll see how it develops.

I was a bit 'meh' about it too, but then I realized the other things Joss has been on.

I've loved nearly all of them so I'm game for anything he comes up with.
 
Of course I was big on his other work (although I admit to watching Firefly too late but adoring it so much) seeing as i'm registered here and all.

But as i've got older and my taste as developed and taken new turns i'm not into the same things as I once was. But as a Buffy fan any Joss related actor gets my support. Will not judge until i've seen it, I learned my lesson from slating Moonlight then adoring it.
 
I've yet to see that 🙂 I thought it was going to be weird but everyone has told me it's amazing.
I'll have to check it out! And yea I missed Firefly when it was first on but eventually saw it and loved it!
Hopefully this time I can actually watch Dollhouse when it starts and love it from the beginning to the end.
 
I love Joss' style and vision for anything I create, so I'm sure I'll love Dollhouse. Though, you never know... I might not like it as much as everything else, but how could I not... Eliza!
