When A Vampire Bites

We've seen it more, obviously, with Buffy, since she was actually bitten and fed upon by tee Master, Angel, and Dracula, plus had Spike at least taste her blood once in Season 7, but it seems pretty consistant every time a vampire feeds on someone. Why don't the victims put up some sort of fight, at least initially, before they become too weak or go into shock or whatever. A vampire grabs someone, usually a young attractive girl, and she just rolls her eyes back and gets drained, seemingly with all thoughts of self preservation forgotten. At the most, a expression of pain initially, then nothing, or maybe even an expression akin to pleasure.

So, why do you think that the happy meals on legs don't put up any more of a struggle? Some primary variation of thrall, maybe something akin to a neurotoxin venom in the vamp's fangs, or maybe, after the initial breaking of the skin, it just really, really feels good, something like when Riley was visiting the lady vampires in Season 5. (I know that in some vampire movies, non-Buffyverse, obviously, the victims seem to be really enjoying the sensation. Dracula, in particular, seems to almost substitute feeding for sex.)

I think it's the shock. Some guy/girl grabs you, their face shifts into this bumpy looking thing with fangs and yellow eyes and before you have time to react they're biting your neck. lol I'd be pretty wigged too.

I'd probably put it down to shock, and the vampires vice like grip on them. I.ve no idea though.
I've noticed too sometimes(a lot) it seems like the vamp only bites and drinks for a few seconds and its enough to kill, like when Darla turns Liam, she only bites for about 3 secs.
But in Lie to Me Spikes drinking Anne/lilys blood for ages and she's fine.
Theres alot of vamp inconsistancy.

I think shock is what I would go with too. If you're not Buffy or someone who actually knows what vampires are then you're gonna be pretty freaked out regardless of them biting you.

Plus I also think that once you felt the strength of the thing that is trying to eat you, trying to get yourself out of it would be absolutely futile and you'd realise that the second they laid their hands on you. Sure, some humans (in the 'verse) at least are capable of fighting them off, but the average-joe wouldn't have a chance.

Agreed with the above. Vampire have preternatural strength and speed and are 'designed' to be predators. Their instincts and abilities are all so they can hunt and kill their prey. Of course it depends on the vamps MO. Spike and Angelus most likely used force a lot of the time (although I'm sure Angelus used the charm offensive as well) but vampires like Darla used seduction and killed the victims before they could fathom what was happening.

Well after a few movies and after having watched six(almost) seasons of Buffy and seasons of Angel...drinking human blood for vampires equals food and possibly sexual pleasure. But for the victims...in some movies they feel much pain but they sometimes they seem to enjoy it. Maybe losing blood, makes you feel dizzy and weird.

But in Buffy when someone suddenly grabs you and he chooses to bite that is a most frightening experience and the person mostly feels shock and pain. I think that is what the face look mostly expresses...shock and fear. Most humans except for Buffy or other vampire hunters can not stop a vampire when they are attacked.The vampire has super strength so that's why the victims can not fight back. The arms of a vampire hold the victim down.
