When did everyone here, stop trick-o-treating?

And another member of the "wrong country" club. Any awareness of Halloween just started like, ten years or so ago over here, and I was already a wee bit too old for T&T by then. 🙂

I'm still going trick-or-treating!!! hahaha why not? free candy right?
me and my 2 friends just got back from halloween costume shopping, it was so fun 😛 I don't think I'll go next year though...

You're meant to stop trick or treating? I'm sure there's a law against stopping somewhere?

Hrm... .err... never stopped 😛
I can still pull it off. I get more candy than most kids on the road (perhaps because I do the "Vicky" trick on them)

I trick-o'-treated all the way through high school. My parents thought I was crazy, as did some people in school. But it was so much fun! And now I'm all hyped up. 🙂

I went trick or treating once and i got a tenner 🙂 it was alright but most people didn't even answer there doors. Never been since and i was about 10 when i went the first time. I think its a bit rude just knocking on people's doors asking for sweets and/or money.

I stopped trick or treating when I was 13. I still took out kids when I was older, I just wasn't the one getting the candy.

Now though, I still dress up, because we have a Halloween parade at school. We also have a party, so the day is sure to induce a migraine or two! 🙂 7 year olds get pretty exited about Halloween.

When I was a kid it was always more fun for me to give out the stuff than go out asking for it. My mother made the best popcorn balls and caramel apples anywhere. Of course, that was before people started putting broken glass and stuff in all the treats. Sealed, commercial candy just isn't the same.

I stopped ToT when I discovered that I could BUY EXACTLY the kind of candy I wanted & didn't have to weed thru it to find out what the good pieces were.... 😉

I was about 5 or 6. My mom got on this extra-religious kick wherein she decided that Halloween was an evil holiday and even Christian alternatives--which we had been attending practically since I was BORN--were just excuses to celebrate an evil, pagan ritual. So we started hiding in the back part of the house and leaving the front lights out.

I hated every second of it.

All of my memories of trick or Treating are so fun and filled with.. hehe fun! I don't know why I stopped hmmm I guess it was 5 years ago I stopped? Can't be sure, seeing as me and remembering is up their with sunlight bringing darkness.

But the best time I ever had was with my neighbor, best friend for life.. at the time, and my sister, we were listening to 'tapes' of scary halloween stories and stuff, sitting in plastic white chairs infront of my house in the yard, the rattling of chains coming from the tape player, the wind blowing, the sky all mid day gray and looming in as leaves flew everywhere. Amazing. And I remember it so clearly as if it was yesterday, which is strange for me. I think I was around 8? or .. 11 or 5.. lols but I'm gonna say 8.

It was never popular in the UK when I was small enough to go. 🙁 I went around the local houses once but only 2 people had anything ready so i gave up. :lmao: It would be fun to dress up this year though.

Around here everyone trick or treats, I did it with 110% effort up until Grade Eight (so I would have been 13). Then when I was 14 I stayed home to look after the trick-or-treaters, and then just before everyone closed down my older brother and I ran around our neighbourhood with costumes in hopes of getting "the rest of the candy".

Now I always make up treat bags for my friends and family just for a silly thing to do, but otherwise I man the door and "ooooh!" over the cute trick-or-treaters 😀

i still have trick or treat duty with my sister and her friends so whenever they stop i suppose

(tho we still dressed up in high school but didnt trick or treat, but at xmas we did carol sing... and get a fair amount of money for it)

i never did it 🙁 here, in portugal, we never do it. Well, there was one time that i decided to celebrate Halloween with my friends (i was 12 i think..) but when we said "trick or treat" and they all answered things like: "i don't have anything for you", "we don't celebrate halloween", etc etc... -_-

I haven't been trick or treating in at least 5 years or so as the last time I did it I got told off by some guy to give any money to homeless when I wasn't asking for any. Then me and my friend almost got egged and ended up running down the street and hiding out in a shop for a while.

It was good fun though I even dressed up as Buffy with one year and made my own make shift stake which I still have somewhere. But now I don't do it I'd rather watching scary movies or like I did last year had a Halloween party at a friends house we made spider cakes and decked out her conservatory with decorations. Next year we might go trick or treating it would be fun.
