The title is of course the first line Willow says in the episode "Seeing Red" after her and Tara's... night together. Well, it's clear to all of us that "it" happened last night. But they made it seem like it's their first time. Is it? I mean, all this time and Willow and Tara have never done this together before? Or was it the first time it was THAT special, because they made up and all? What do you think?

it was definitely NOT the first time lol...OMWF implies oral, but I'm pretty sure they did it before. I think it was just so special because they had just gotten back together and Willow was truly happy about that. Plus, Joss couldn't really imply much until they switched over to UPN. After the switch, we finally see them kissing in 'The Body' and they allowed implications in OMWF. So only naturally would Joss have them go at it after getting back together 🙂

It definitely wasn't their first time. They've been together for two years at that point, had lived together/shared the same bed for quite a while, and, as msfantastico87 pointed out, "Under your Spell" in OMWF is pretty, um, hands on. Just listen to that song, it's one giant sex metaphor and the scene in their bedroom speaks for itself. They both were just very overwhelmed by emotions and "wow"-ed because of the many things that factored into this night - they had just made up and gotten back together and very probably been at it all night, so of course you'd be a little out of it.

I dont understand the question... I just thought 'when did morning happen' meant they spent all night shagging and never realized it was morning. Where did this first time business come from?

It's just put in there to confuse you :-p

I thought like that too :)
Wasn't it even sort of implied already in New Moon Rising and Who Are You? Like msfantastico87 already said, they couldn't do a lot before UPN, but there was definitely sexual subtext and metaphor there? Like, the scene in which they perform the spell to see who's in Buffy's body...from what I've read/heard, this was a metaphor for their first time together. Or at the end of New Moon Rising, when Willow blows out the candle and it's dark is also pretty obvious...like, what do you do alone with your lover in the dark?

Well, y'know, sometimes we *talk* ;-)
I got the metaphors, reallly. About the non metaphors, on Buffy they kind of make a big deal out of each first time of each couple (or so it seems). So in Seeing Red it was a given. Too bad that until UPN they couldn't make a big deal out of the first gay love relationship. It should be one of the biggest deals.

Actually, I'd say the first time isn't necessary the time couples shag the night away. That's often a far too awkward moment for that to happen. Make up sex is far a far better occasion.

Oh.. I thought I had just missed something.. I still think I am missing something.. I am really very confused now!

So is that why it was thought to be the first time? because it took all night? I dont get where the first time symbolism came from.. I dont recall the episode well (except thats where Dawn did that damned goofy handclap thing which is etched in my memory, a perpetual self-repeating nail-on-the-chalkboard scene) but I dont recall ever thinking it was their first time.

I never thought it would be, but it seems to me that this was the point the OP indicated. Dunno, really.
Okay I'm more than a little confused. Can someone give me the 'first time' quote? I always assume their first time was Who Are You implied?

join the crowd.. here is the transcript

Open in Willow's bedroom, daylight. Overhead shot of the room, various items of clothing strewn across the floor. Pan across the floor. Sound of giggling.

Pan further to reveal Willow and Tara snuggling together on the bed, under red sheets.

WILLOW: When did morning happen?
TARA: After the moon went down.

Willow giggles, leans up and they kiss for a while. Then Willow lies back down with her head on Tara's stomach. Tara caresses her shoulders.

WILLOW: Mmm, I forgot how good this could feel. Us. Together. (pause) Without the magic.
TARA: There was plenty of magic.

Willow smiles, then sighs.

I just dont get the first time bit.

The OP is asking if that was the first time Willow and Tara had sex. It wasn't. It was just the first time since they got back together.

I just thought that it was something similar to Buffy's comment in "Wrecked" when she said, "When did the house fall down." In both cases, what the respective couples had shared was so intense, so passionate, so downright mind numbing, that they lost all track of time, place, and surroundings until they recovered their proper senses the next morning.

Not the first time, I'm sure. It's been vaguely implied before. And OMWF did imply a more sexual relationship. But I think it was very special to them, even more speicial than previous times.

The script makes me certain that it wasn't the first time.
"I forgot how good this could feel. Us. Together. Without that magic'
That does imply that they have done things like this before.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Willow and Tara had sex more than once, and I don't think anything implies that Seeing Red was their first time together "“ just a very important and special time (and probably a good one =) ).
at the end of New Moon Rising, when Willow blows out the candle and it's dark is also pretty obvious...like, what do you do alone with your lover in the dark?
I always thought that their first time was in New Moon Rising, like that's when Willow decides there really is something real going on between her and Tara. (Which of course doesn't mean they haven't slept together before.. I just always figured that was the first time.)

That was how I saw it too. I definitely don't get the impression that Seeing Red was the first time... just super intense since they're making up after such a serious split. 🙂
