When did you become a fan??

"Grr Arrgh"

My best friend doesn't like Buffy much, but she's seen nearly every episode, and sometimes at school if one of us gets angry we say 'Grr' then the other one says 'Arrgh' it's quite funny...but you pro'lly have to be there 😛 lol

my friends at school were making fun of a new TV show called 'Buffy, the Vampire Slayer' they thought it sounded stupid, so i made a point of watching it and proving them wrong...and guess what? i did! lol

but in all honesty, after i saw 'Welcome to the Hellmouth' i developed a crush on Nick Brendon, so i pretty much watched for Xander for the first season and half...until 'School Hard' came along, lol!

Well, I was 7 or 8 when I first started watching Buffy, my mother was appalled and quite frightened haha, one day she came home and found me watching it on BBC2 and ever since then I've been hooked. I'm now 17, and my love for the show is still strong 🙂 I watch my dvd's over and over, it never gets old.

Man i watched this show like 10 years ago when it first came out...i was on the streets and stuff bustin caps u know stayin alive and stuff then i realized MAN...this is some crazy ass sh*t up in here. I mean BTVS parallels my own life in some ways just instead of slayin vamps i make them bloods cry to their mothers u know...

but hey that's a different story i just thought this show was so rich and so like fresh at the time...it was dope and it still is. Man my other homeboys be all hatin and sh*t sayin i'm watchin some kid's show but man i tell em to go shove it coz they dunno what real entertainment's all about.

I DO NOT WATCH THIS SHOW WHEN I'M HIGH THAT'S WHY I ACTUALLY THINK IT'S AWESOME.

well when Buffy first came out i was 4 so never watched it.

i started watching Angel first and def not by choice we had no cable and it came on the wb on Weds.(i think) and of course nothing was on. So i was forced to watch it and it was interesting i think it was in the fourth season but i only watched it once and then never again

about 2005 i went through a phase of being obsessed with a certain celebrity, male or female, and watching all their projects or close to it. somewhere along the line(06 i think) i went through a Ryan Phillippe phase and he happened to be in two movies with SMG i watched Cruel Intentions and then developed a SMG phase i started watching Buffy on UPN(back when they were playing it on Sat/Sun wound up loving it and started buying the seasons i have the first three and then bought the 1st season of Angel and been a fan ever since

😉

im only really new-think March this year! Buffy came out when i was 4 and it contained (quote my parents) encorougment to be violent and sleep with older men
I started when my brother borrowed it from a friend and watched case i was bored. i fell in love with xander and angel and eventually added oz and spike(heart flutters) to my list. i had heard about it ages ago but it sounded lame and really cheesy.now im know most episodes from front 2 finish and want 2 start watching Firefly. im trying to get my friends into it so they can understand what im talking about(im getting sick of having to explain whatfive by five' means)LOL...whatever...
thats my buffy-obsession-story🙂

July 19, 2007 is the day I became a fan , more then a fan , Im obsessed & will never stop.

I'd say I had to be about 12 when I saw my first episode. FX was rerunning them, and it was some episode in the middle of season 5. Obviously, I got hooked. I started watching them weekly on UPN halfway through season 6. I Eventually picked up on Angel at the tail end of its third season, and the rest is history. I've got all the DVDs of both shows, so I'm pretty much set. =]

August 7, 2007 was the day I became a true Buffy fan. A few years ago I had caught episodes randomly and didn't think anything of it. I was really into Charmed though and I love the supernatural. Anyways both of my aunts are obsessed with Buffy and when one of them said they were going to a Sing-a-Long "Rocky Horror" style I had to go because I love musicals and especially Rocky Horror so I went and I did not know exactly what was going on but that was the day I realized WOW this is a pretty awesome show so the next day I found an episode online and watched the 1st episode and decided it was worth it so I went out and bought seasons 1-4 on dvd after watching those I went out and bought the rest. Then I wanted more so I borrowed season 5 of Angel from a friend and ordered the Comics online. So yeah that is my long story on how I became a Buffy fan.

I originally started watching Buffy when I was 7 and they began airing it on YTV, it had caught my interest because when I was younger I was interested in paranormal things (ghosts, aliens etc) and I really liked the way the library looked. I absolutely loved the show, though I only caught seasons 1-3 and then just kind of stopped watching it. Then a couple summers ago, Razer began airing it just after Dawson's Creek, and because I had nothing better to do, I would watch both shows. I immediately thought Buffy was ridiculous and stopped watching it shortly after the began showing it. Then about six months ago, I was standing in a video store and I was being pressured into hurrying up so I grabbed the first thing I saw, which happened to be Buffy season 1. From there, I watched all the episodes, of Angel and Firefly as well and loved every single one (with the exception of Beer Bad). So, I guess you could say I'm pretty new to the whole Whedonverse.

I always thought BtVS was more of a novelty show. I had seen the movie when it came out, thought it cute but far from impacting so I figured the show wasn't much different. I can't even say I'd seen bits and pieces of episodes cause I'd channel surf right past them. Back around '01/'02 Buffy was getting props from members of a mailing list I was on. I remember thinking, "Huh, if so-n-so & so-n-so likes Buffy, it's gotta have something...", but still never thought about watching. The mailing list graduated/modernized into a forum and in '04, someone started a Buffy/Angel thread. Again... "so 'n so likes it too! my goodness!". I should mention that I don't have cable, it's just me, the DVD player and Netflix w/ the occasional video store visit so to watch Buffy was to rent Buffy. *ahem* Fast forward to December '06 - had me some lovely flu-like symptoms, left work and stopped by the local video store on my way home for my usual sick person rental of 4-6 silly romantic comedies (guilty pleasure, be gentle in your teasing...). They had BtVS S:1 (and only S:1). The whole season for rent, 3 days-$6. All the so-n-so's I respected who loved Buffy came rushing back to my head and I thought, "it's a sign, and sometimes you gotta follow the sign." I didn't love it, but I dug it, enough to continue Buffy through Netflix. And well, last week I finished the series. I took little hiatusessess (however you pluralize that) between seasons (except between 6 & 7 - I couldn't handle the excitement). So it took me ten months for the whole series and by gosh, I LOVE it. LOVE it. To quote myself from a phone coversation just this morning w/one of the said respected fans from the other forum, "It's some of the best television that was ever on television." Now that it's over I'm really wanting to go back, so, I bought used copies of S:1, 2 & 3 - they're not here yet. I'd love that Chosen collection but I don't think there's a place that would do a payment plan. Yeah, so that's when/how I became a fan.

ps: i'm new and have occasional tendencies to ramble. ie: this post. hi. 🙂

i started watching it when i was 4 my sister was watching witch and i didn't have anything else to do so i watvhed it and instatly fell in love with it

You know, most of these posts make me feel OLD! 6 in 1997! ACK!

Even as close as June 2006 I was mortified by the whole thing. I remember trying to leave on a family vacation one time and my husband just sat in front of the TV watching Angel while I got the kids ready and packed the car.

I WAS LIVID!

Then, later last year, I found out that my lovely husband had been terribly addicted to Hydrocodone for almost 3 years. He got fired from his job and took this ridiculous temporary thing that had him leaving the house on Mondays and not coming back until Fridays. (And, of course still on drugs because he had no one to stop him while gone all week.)
He wasn't bringing home ANY real money and with him gone, there was no way I could get a job outside the house. So, I just dove into painting like a crazy person.
I was INSANE and rarely slept. Stayed up all night painting, put my son on the bus, take a nap until my daughter got up, back to work, take another nap mid-afternoon, and then up all night again.

I got VERY hooked on the fact that TNT would play X-Files all night many nights a week. And then, Angel would come on. Which I would leave on.

I noticed VERY quickly that with 2 episodes a day, I was missing a lot. (Not as much as I thought though, because what sparked me to tape it was Connor being a baby one minute and a teenager the next.)

So, I'd tape it every day to make sure I didn't miss anything. And it was the HAPPIEST part of my day. This weird place that was TOTAL fantasy and twists and turns and likable people and I was sold by the fact that roles weren't recast. (One of my BIGGEST pet peeves.) And I was thrilled with how things didn't get "magically forgotten" two weeks later as if they never happened. And I couldn't predict it, but I COULD understand it. (Which although I love the X-Files, I still don't understand that whole bigger back story.)

I taped and watched it every day 2 1/2 times through. Still tickled every time. And still a little shocked that is SO GOOD.

By the time I'd seen season five three times, I realized I was curious about too much to not watch Buffy. Spike REALLY intrigued me because he had me laughing like a crazy person during a time I was miserable most of the time. The show about Dana. Willow saying she'd tried to kill everyone. Who the heck Harmony had been. And, I have to admit, was DETERMINED to catch the writers in a recast.

So, I moved to FX in the mornings. I came in about midway through season 2. Then, I caught my daughter watching one day. She was pretending to be asleep during "The Dark Age" episode and she would giggle incontrolably when the zombie people would turn into puddles on the floor. And we got hooked TOGETHER. (Which meant watching the shows twice a day so I could screen them.) I got even MORE tickled by the writing and the non-recasts. And by season 4 I was totally amazed and practically obsessed. I was on the IMDb all the time trying hard to find a recast. Never did. I couldn't imagine a TV show that didn't think I was stupid. I thought I had them when they threw Dawn in, but, of course, I was wrong.

It may be why I'm STILL on FX's rear end about putting it back on weekdays even though I have the DVDs. I think I'd have gone STARK RAVING MAD in the last year and a half if it weren't for Buffy and Angel. And I don't even LIKE SMG all that much. I like Buffy, but Sarah doesn't float my boat at all.

All my problems seemed to just disappear, if only for when the show was on. It kept me awake and thinking and interested. And gave me something to look forward to other than just work, feed the kids, work, run the errands, work, fight with my husband, work. Not to mention, if you doze while Buffy's on...you have FUNKY DREAMS that make for paintings that sell in the hundreds!!!!!!

Sorry for the novel, but it's a long story! And anything less wouldn't do it justice! Buffy just flat saved my world....A LOT!
