When Did You Start Appreciating Some Popular Culture That Belongs To Your Next Generation?

Is there a single work that plays the role of trigger?

Or did you have no prejudice at all in the first place?

Or did you wake up some day and find yourself already simmered in it and can't help enjoying it?

Or do you still dislike them in general?

Totally a continuum for me. Basically...it's all good.

I really don't have a sense of "this new fangled generation" and I'm 50 with grown kids and a grandson.

Heck, I play bey blades and talk Pokemon with my grandson because I think it's fun.

I think my kids and grandson actually keep it all relevant to me. I'm invested. I like to know and share what's interesting to the people I care about.

Buffy - a lot of my students loved it but I thought it would be dumb and cheesy. Then my daughter made me watch it. She said she knew me well enough to know I needed an obsession, once I was disabled and cut off from a lot. She was right - I was completely obsessed. Now - at least I no longer judge people by whether they have watched the show.

I did my first watch through with my oldest granddaughter when she was nine - I taught 9-12 year olds and they all loved it. The next granddaughter I'll have to wait longer - she is easily spooked. Third one - who knows. We call her destructo-baby.

Not sure what Next Gen is for me? I guess 2000 stuff and up? Since I'm a 90s kids. But basically it just depends what it is. I like some stuff from now, like TV and gaming, some other stuff I really don't like, like pop music. But I'm not prejudiced, it's not like I say all music sucks nowadays, na, it's just some of it isn't my style of music. I still like some of it, just not most of it.
