When does Oz become a Werewolf?

I just watched phases, and Oz wakes up in the middle of the woods and rings someone to ask if they're a werewolf or something.

Is this his first night out on a full moon or did he know before this? & if so, isn't the werewolf that tries to attack Cordy and Xander still lose?

*confused*

[Also, first thread, go me.]

I would think that was his first time. I doubt he'd been out as a wolf on other nights and then gone back home and gotten into new clothes before reverting back to a human.

Considering his confusion, I'd say that was his first time. Also, he still had the band-aid on where Jordy bit him. So he was a baby werewolf--only a few days old.

Ok, so if that's true, that the night Oz woke up in the park was his first night as a werewolf, considering that was the second night of the full moon, then who was the werewolf that attacked Cordelia and Xander? Jordy?

I always assumed that it was his second night as a werewolf, but it was the first time he woke up in a strange place. My feelings were that he returned close to home on that first night, maybe woke up in the backyard and assumed he was sleepwalking.

Good food for thought... I never really thought about who attacked Xander and Cordy, but I guess it's supposed to be assumed that it was Oz.

Good point, Lyri. For some reason, I at first assumed that there was another werewolf on the loose. But then again, it wouldn't make much sense because nothing else is heard of this "would-be" werewolf. The only plausible answer seems to be that Oz didn't necessarily know/understand the whole three day wolf moon thing.

However, Jordy couldn't possibly be the werewolf - he would be just a widdle baby werepup! Assuming this, of course. It only seems logical.

Out of curiousity though....how did Jordy become a werewolf? He's just a wee kid, surely if he was bitten by a werewolf, there wouldn't be any of him left!

Also, how do his parents deal with him, 3 nights of a month?

But as for Oz and the first night...I'd go with Lyri's theory. My guess would also be that while he wasn't aware that it was himself, he's be aware of his surroundings to the point of at least making it home before changing back.

He probably got scratched by some other werepup at daycare, and then when he wolfs out 3 nights a month his mom and dad have to put him in a titanium dog kennel. 🙂

I've always thought Jordy was heredically a werewolf. Correct me if the original suggests otherwise (as usual, I know only the none-too-good German dub version), but that's how I take what he says on the phone: "Is Jordy a werewolf? ... uh-huh... And how long has this been going on?" Always seemed to suggest, to me at least, a "family thing", with the "condition" passed on by one of his parents (i.e., Oz's aunt or uncle, probably the one that married into the family and not Oz' blood relative - or else Oz would probably have known about if before).

But good thought about the "which night/morning" dilemma. I feel so dumb not having noticed the discrepancy before! I'm pretty sure that Oz is supposed to be the only werewolf on the loose there, but it is hard to make sense of him waking up nekkid & confused after his second night of wolfing out...

Veruca? 😉

Nahh, I always figured it was his second night, but the first night he found his way back home. There's no rule that says werepeople don't find their way back to where they started once they change.
Remember in Beauties and the Beasts (I think that's what the ep is called..) and Xander falls asleep while Oz-sitting? Someone gets killed, Oz's window is left open, and even though he was there in the morning they still suspect he may have gotten out. So it's possible for a werewolf to change, go out, and come back before changing back.
It's just a miracle he didn't maul or kill anyone in his house, though.

It could be that Oz, being the party-goer that he is with being in a band, got drunk or something similar and wound up butt naked the next morning somewhere, and the second time 'round (when we see him) he's confused as to why hes butt naked and in the middle of no where again.
being a person of few words. "Huh." pretty much sums it up for him.

Yes, that's what I think too and it really is the only way it makes sense. We're talking about his baby cousin, how could he possibly been infected otherwise?
What I do wonder about is that Oz got infected while Jordy wasn't wolfed out. If lycanthropy is passed on in human form, he has to watch what he does - and with whom he does it - a lot.

That doesn't sound like Oz at all. While he says he's "living Groupie-free nowadays" he might have hinted he's lived the rockstar life to some extent but got over that prior to meeting Willow.

He definitely was the werewolf that attacked Cordelia and Xander and just woke up near home and probably thought he was sleepwalking.
I don't know about you but "I probably am a werewolf" is not the first thing that comes to mind waking up in a strange place even if you know vampires and that other stuff is real. 😉
