Okay, I was watching Becoming yesterday, and there's something that always strikes me as odd about when Drusilla killed Kendra. Okay, here's the thing: vampires always talk about how...extraordinary slayers blood is, so why did Dru just stab her fingernail through her neck and leave her for dead, rather than draining her, or at least drinking SOME of her blood? I know that's not what they were in the library for, but how could she resist slayers blood...?

Maybe they didn't want to deal with the whole 'was Kendra turned scenario'

good point, never thought of that but i think id like to have seen that
Drusilla's crazy. So even if people were saying slayer's blood is that good, doesn't mean she has to go for it. She's always been peculiar, maybe even in the way she feeds.

Seriously. I make that mistake in real life a lot. Expecting irrational people to make rational sense.

Maybe it had something to do with the fact that Dru didn't kill her as a Vampire, she was using her physic ability's, we know Dru is into her vampire rituals, like the way she buried Darla, maybe it wouldn't have felt right to drink her blood!

Plus she was down to business at that point. She took a thrill in the kill and then was like 'Let's get what we came for boys'. She was too busy wanting to get what Angelus wanted. Plus, maybe she suspected (or knew as was norm for Dru) that Buffy would be running into the library soon. Draining Kendra would slow her down.

If you recall, Spike did the same thing with Nikki Wood and Angel didn't drain Jenny Calendar. Maybe it's some kind of contempt thing with the Nikki, as if saying that she died somehow badly, and her blood wasn't worth taking. Remember, Nikki acted as if she had totally lost control of herself, trying to strangle Spike. In Jenny's case it would have been a taunt to Giles, like some sort of challenge. The same could probably be said about Kendra with Buffy.

I'm going to go for a combination of most of the above. First and foremost it's just Dru being her peculiar little self.

I was going to say contempt! WA beat me to it! My thought, though, was that Dru found her SO easy to overcome that she didn't figure she was strong enough to bother with.

Yeah vamps don't always think with their teeth, they have other agendas and reasons to kill. Angelus once said, he had his fill when killing humans.

Whatever the reason those fingernails must have been ultra sharp.

a frieind in high school loved dru and had scary nails like drus, which she called her dru nails.... oh the strangeness of camila
Vampires don't always just kill to feed... if you want to be technical they don't have to kill at all when their feeding- just a little bit out of alot of people would be enough to sustain.

They kill for the bloodlust... not just to drink it, but because they have a lust for killing, for spilling blood. And Dru is pretty much mad anyway, so I doubt it'd even entered her head to drain Kendra... it was more the fun of killing a slayer, especially in such an easy way, by hypnotising her. Plus there was the mission behind it, and for once whe was falling in line with what they were there to do.

I think I'm going to agree with this explanation. I was watching a commentary on the episode where Angel kills Jenny, and they were explaining why he didn't drink her blood, and instead snapped her neck. It was to show the raw, physical brutality of the kill from a demon. Now that Angel was evil, they had to show how evil he was by snapping her neck rather than drinking her. It's their way of showing how the kill was meaningless and how it didn't effect Angel at all.
That's what they said, and some of it was my own theory.

This goes to show that just because Dru's a vampire, it doesn't mean she has to drink everyone. It was set that way on purpose.

Spike had never expressed contempt for Nikki Wood. He even admitted that Buffy reminded him of her a little.

Well, then, maybe he was just so excited about getting her coat that he clean forgot to feed off of her. Or maybe he wanted it to look like an ordinary mugging for some reason.
I thought that Dru wanted to savour the kill and have it be clean and elegant

I mean biting is kinda crude and unclean, I think that Dru wanted it to be 'special', think about it she's had to listen to Spike rattle on about killing two slayers so maybe she want hers to be a nice little secret.

Or maybe not, she is a total nutter after all, gotta love her though.

i was going with total nutter... i mean dru probably didnt even realize kendra was kendra the vampire slayer anyways
okay i aggree with what a lot of you have said.. Firstly, Dru's crazy, so that always helps with doing things no one can explain =) Also, I think Dru kinda acted very straight-forwardly and the way she killed Kendra seemed so very degrading in a way. It was as if 'I'm not even going to bother' came into it. The fact that she didn't even need to vamp-up, but instead just use her fingernail - made it all the more shocking and a little more horrible..

em... it was actually that in s2, slayers blood had not been established as any better than normal human blood.

When was that? We know Slayer's blood has mystical properties such as curing vampires who have been inflicted with certain poisons and giving vampires power to break free of mystical prisons (The Master)

oops!! silly me... writing without thinking again.
i was totally wrong. mabye dru is thick like me and didnt even know?

1. Remember Spike didn't drain (or even drink it for that matter) that black Slayer's blood either...
2. Dru's weird... Whatta you expect. (Besides, it was REALLY cool)

My vote goes with Dru just being crazy. It's not like she has normal vampire standards anyway.
