When friends set you up with someone

Just to add a few thoughts, just because you are anti-online dating doesn't negate that it works for so many people. I, myself, am not really a fan of online dating when it comes to myself, but I still think online dating is a great thing. I think it's just important to recognize that online dating works for many. It's great that it allows people who wouldn't have normally met to meet. Plus it really broadens the dating pool, and as someone that comes from a town of 4000 with maybe 3 "out" lesbians, that's a good thing.

I think it's awkward when friends set you up with someone especially when it's so obviously a set up and you're both aware it's a set up. I find it difficult to socialise with new people in person as it is without the added pressure. I think the best way is when you're unaware of the set up and you just so happen to "meet" someone.

Oh is this oversharing? Whoops. I seem to have a filter issue with that.

Ive never met anyone through online dating.

I have met many many people from forums online. And now days face book. And they are the best people I have met so far...

My partners - well, I prefer the fk buddy first approach.

That happened at the last wedding I went too. They conveniently paired me up with one of the groomsmen. They made it kinda obvious once they asked if I found him attractive. I just had a good laugh at it, but was indeed very awkward. It was not very subtle.

I've never been set up, but if a friend had try to set me up with someone they thought I was compatible with then I probably would have gone on a date with them. Just to see what happens....you never know.

I'm a bit on the shy side when it comes to dating so I think I would prefer to meet someone in a friendly group setting rather than a blind date type thing.

I've never been interested in online dating but a lot of people seem to be into it and have had success, so I can't really knock it. Although, I do wonder if sometimes people miss out/don't really give a person a fair shot because with online dating there is always someone else to date.
