Are there any characters you started out loving but turned against as time went on?

For me, it's Willow. I loved her in seasons 1-3 but really couldn't stand her after that.

I'm the same actually. I loved Willow in the high school year but after Season 5 she just bugged me.

I started out loving Willow, she was one of my favorite characters but as time went on I liked her less and less. I wouldn't say I hate her character, just that post S3 she underwhelms me.

Another character would be Wesley. I didn't mind him on BTVS and I really began to like him in Angel, especially in late season 2 and early season 3. Then came the whole kidnapping Connor fiasco and honestly after that I couldn't stand him.

Another one for adoring Willow 1-3 to down right loathing her afterwards.

I feel like a significant part of Willow's humility and empathy was sacrificed for her to be "cool".

Give me Willow of the giant, endearing heart over Willow, of the arrogant, imposing power, any day.

That's exactly what bugs me, she seems to grow out to be more cool than golden-hearted :/

Spike. He was an incredible villain in season 2. Just the right amount of scary, just the right amount of funny. He was still okay in season 4, but by season 7, I wanted to rip his head off.

More or less this, Spike was one of those characters that once made me want to watch the show. Later on he made me want to abandon it altogether at times.

Also Cordelia. I'm sorry but I'm just not down with the whole "higher being" thing at all or all that followed (actually she bugs me a little right before the higher being stuff too, I feel like her character lost its way somewhere after she came back from her vacation with Groo). I'm disappointed where that took her character and though she has a few good moments in season 4 (Spin the bottle e.g.) I just feel absolutely fed up with her most of the time.
Evil Cordy could have been a deeply disturbing and brilliant twist... but what we got... no. Didn't care for it and was glad to see her go at the end of s4! (but I went full circle with her because I went back to love after 'You're welcome' and the reminder of what 'real' Cordy was like)

I'm on board with Willow, just a little bit. Just because I love her soooo much in the first three seasons!! And for most of season four and five, but then season six. . . I can't watch her sometimes. Did like her again in season seven though.

And Cordy. I'm soooo glad that they did You're Welcome so that we could have her leave on a note that was back to the Cordy that I loved.

I'm surprised to see I'm not the only one who dislikes Willow's evolution!

It's just like she was that kind-hearted quirky person and when she entered college she became more...I don't know. She makes my eyes roll a lot.

Giles' development is also quite disappointing in my opinion. I don't really like him in season 6 and 7, while I'm really fond of him during season 1 to 5.

Oh and Riley. Whenever I watch season 4, I think "Oh no, Riley arrives in the picture". But I actually like him during season 4. I like him less during season 5 and wasn't that sad that he left.

And Lindsay MacDonald. I like him at first and then he's just meh.

She kind of becomes more arrogant when she starts college, it's really annoying.
I LOVED Spike from seasons 2-5, especially in season 2. Then, he became this sick love puppy and was not interesting for me no more.

I loved Willow until season 7, then I stopped caring for her.

I also loved Giles more in earlier years, but I never actually started to hate him.

I wouldn't say I hate them but I dislike Willow after season 5, and Spike after Angel season 1.

You didn't like their development in Angel?? I just lost a lot of respect for you...

Um... ok? I'm sorry that my opinion made you lose respect for me (even though I think that's kind of an odd reason to lose respect for someone), but it is how I feel. Cordy lost that bit that made me love her. By the end I just got annoyed that she was supposed to be 20, 21 and acted like she was 30, 31.

Wesley went into the dark side and it disappointed me. After the season 3 "the father will kill the son" debacle, I never forgave him.

I get the feeling that Hale's comment came off a lot harsher because it was in writing...
Im not a massive fan of Spike post season 3 and Amy too but those are the only ones i can think of

Aww, poor Willow. All the hate! I love her. S7, she kind of bugs me, and I've already explained why so many times...

Honestly, other than Spike, who I feel Joss ruined like he does so many amazing characters, Buffy. She starts out as fun and rebellious, and slaying was just a part of her. By the end, all she is is the Slayer. It's her whole identity.

Season 6 really disappointed me. She lies to her friends, degrades herself, even tries to kill them because a world in which she's crazy seems better to her than the world in which she actually lives. She's not even a thread of the tapestry she once was.

Another vote for Wesely and Cordelia, MY GOD, they annoy the crap out of me in the later season of AtS: Cordelia the saint and Wesley with his manpain. I liked them much better on BtVS and S1 and S2 AtS, by S3 they started to get on my nerves.

Faith. Love her in Season 3, love her in Season 4. Hate her in Season 7. I understand that she was trying to do the right thing and blah blah but she just annoyed me.

Wow, I wasn't expecting so much Willow hate. All my friends love her but she's just so damn annoying.

I have to disagree with the Spike haters though; he's the only character I consistently liked throughout the show. Even if I did sometimes wish he would go back to his evil ways again.

Spike I just love him as well.
Angel: on Buffy I loved him in season 2 and because he was David didn't really care for the will they won't they of Buffy/Angel on Angel though he is my number one man 😛 That being said really the only thing I disliked about him was Buffy I suppose and his ways with her.

Xander: I love him but I hate him. He is just one of the most annoying characters and when I think about him I seriously want to do not nice things. I can tolerate him through watches and at times I like him but overall he will never stick out among my shows.

Giles: Sorta is a way to say it. I loved him early on but he is like Xander at times to me overall though I look at him with a smile. It is just some of his actions in season seven knock points off.

Buffy: I found her more likable early on but I am very critical of main characters they have to be amazing for me to like them more than the supporting and with Willow and Spike being there this was kind of never going to happen I guess lol.

That is about it I think I mean I never really was over the moon for Tara but yes those are the only characters that get me very mad but I don't hate some of them they are just the closest thing I have to hate character wise.
