When you have a "Buffy" rewatch and you get to "Chosen"

I watched The Freshman one day, a few months ago, and before I knew it....I was up to season 7. I stopped watching after Showtime. I was getting too close and I needed more time! Also, I don't like doing mid-season re-watches to the end. I like to go from 1-7 not 4-7...ugh. So yeah, it feels weird when you make it to the end. I get so emotional when I realize how close I am to it.

I haven't seen Chosen in forever, I dread it! Whyyyy did you have to end Buffy!?!?

I was just so surprised when I watched Chosen and then decided to make a rewatch. I was surprised how much I forgot about the earlier seasons, how funny they are and how much I like them! I think some of the strories are much better then the stories in season 7! In my eyes a lot changed, mainly the atmoshpare in the hole seasons. It become more darker in my eyes!

For me it is always bittersweet. I realise that I have watched through one of my favourite shows ever and am delighted by how good it is all the way through. There are 'off' episodes here and there, but overall it was an amazing show, which although not my favourite of all time, puts me through more of an emotional rollercoaster than any other. So I can sit back and appreciate that what Joss and the rest of the folks at Mutant Enemy did was incredible.

At the same time, I always think that it would have been nice if they could have finished the show on a season with a lighter tone overall. I appreciate that after what the characters have been through their innocence is very much lost and that to keep things interesting the writers had to make things worse and worse so that the audience didn't take it for granted, but seasons 6 and 7, while great, are such a departure in tone from the first 5 that it would have been nice to see it get some of that back before the end.

And of course, I always have a good cry.

I hate watching the last episode to a series a second time. Even if it's really good, it always makes me sad. lol

I feel like I've completed this familiar journey once again and am excited to get back to the beginning 😀
It's interesting because each time I pick up more on how much the show has changed over the years. I feel like 7 seasons was a very good length for the show and I don't really wish that it lasted longer (though I absolutely love most of the actors/actresses involved.)

So there's no sadness for me, just excitement that I own this amazing show and can just rewatch it at my liesure. Plus seasons 1-3 are my favorite so I always look forward to getting back to them 🙂

The sadness kicks in on those earlier seasons, where I get nostalgic for the days that Buffy was on tv! <3 the 90's

I feel bouncy and happy - because I see Buffy/Angel together again, their feelings confirmed, and then I know I will be going to Angel S5 next. I never rewatch the series separately and AtS S5 is one of my personal favorites - it is sad and funny and exciting at the same time.

Im currently doing another rewatch and i'm on season 5 at the moment. I hate that it is getting near the end again! But also looking forward to getting back to season 1 🙂
For me, even though it is pretty old now, it still feels fresh and current. And i love rewatching and spotting things i missed before.
It is an onion show, lots of layers! 😀

I always think, "Wow. That's it. What a masterpiece." and suddenly I want to start over again.
This feeling decreases after a while though.
And some weeks or months later, I decide to watch it again 🙂
At the moment I'm at Prophecy Girl. I started a rewatch two weeks or so ago.

I cry, but mostly because of Spike's death. I don't know, I feel at peace with the end. I like the way it ends and I feel like it sums up all 7 seasons in a beautiful way.

I'm usually speechless whenever I finish Chosen. I just think how there's no more to continue with, and I feel like starting all over again. It sort of feels like it's the end of an era or something...

The mind recoils in horror, unable to communicate with the spinal column.

You approach the play button that will lead into the episode and you know that when you get there, you have to let those 7 years wash over you willingly, if you have any chance of rebirth. But when you get there everything goes wrong: you misjudge the distance and slam against it, bounce off and grab hold of your DVD rack to keep from falling, some angry rotarian with a platter of cheese slices shoves you and you think: Whats happening here? Whats going on?

😀

Well first I get all depressed that the show had to end, ad then the amount that the show changed sinks in; it chaged a whole lot. I rally don't have all that much to say, other than I get sad when its over.

I can't really describe how I feel about Chosen in words. It's just . . . closure, I guess. I'm always sad when I watch it (the tears start a-flowin when Andrew says "She was amazing") but then I'm also happy because there's just a little hint of Buffy having a normal life, and also a little hint about Buffy's future with Angel. Of course this might change if I ever get around to buying season eight, but I'll see. I've only ever re-watched Buffy once, but some time after all my exams, I'll do it again . . . it's like a yearly thing. I'm gonna re-watch every year. 🙂
