When You Kiss Me, I Want to Die

Yeah, I always thought it was a comment meaning that she wanted him to turn her. And I always wondered why Angel never came back with a long tirade about how horrible it is to be a vampire.

Buffy to Angel--"When you kiss me, I want to die."

Buffy to Spike--"I can't love you...and it's killing me."

Do you maybe get that this chick has some kind of a problem distinguishing between love and death?

LOL!
oh yeah, love and sex and death are so mixed up for this chick. When Angel kisses her she wants to die, yet her love for him makes him feel alive - its oh so sad and tragic (and a little bit overblown - she was a teenager at the time) but certainly signals the 'doomed' nature of the romance.

This line bothers me too, I've never quite... Got it. Do you think whoever wrote the line got it? Do they have any idea how much Buffy fans 'huh' it and question it and really don't like it, Bangel supporter or not?

I think it was David Greenwalt who worte it and apparently Joss loved it. He thought it was so perfectly Bangel. Apparently it is so supposed to be obvious what she meant. Personally I am still drawing blank!

Edit:

white avenger agrees: She was talking about his kissing technique. Somewhere between a dead fish and a sexualy aroused camel with halitosis.

WA really it is so sad that you are still so threatened by Angel. If you ever need to talk you know I'm here for you:tongue:

Angel's no threat, darlin', he's comedy relief. I've seen more passion between turtles mating (Now, stick that tongue back in that pretty little mouth before your face freezes that way).

I'm touced by your concern😉...and speaking of touchy we will just leave this topic alone. I know how it works you up😀

That line is so unbelievably cheesy and melodramatic I can't believe Sarah actually was able to say that and keep a straight face. If I ever watched that episode with a friend I would blush from embarrassment, both for myself AND the show.

I've taken a whole day to calm down, and I STILL think Angel has the romantic appeal of paint drying, but since I'm not an over imaginative inexperienced teen aged girl who never really had anything to compare Angel's lip technique to, I'll defer to Buffy's limited judgment in this matter (I mean, before you've ever had prime beef, hot dogs still taste pretty good. The poor girl just hadn't gotten to the main course yet.) That much unbridled passion would put a child like her into a coma.

She seemed to handle all that unbridled passion just fine during her smoochfests with Angel in season 2 & 3, which by the way were hot! alot more than that excuse for kissing she engaged in with that no lips peroxide disappiontment!

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one, Miss K, sorry. I hate the Buffy-Angel makeout scenes. It's the smacking. It makes me shudder. But then, I can't listen to people eat, either, so it might just be a personal issue. Spike and Buffy didn't slurp nearly as much.

Ewww. This made me laugh out loud. And, also, it made me think of lip gloss. Mmm. Lipsmackers.
I said AS MUCH. Doesn't mean there wasn't slurping. It just wasn't as constant.

Sorry...this topic always kind ends being a contest, especially with WA lurking about!
"...no lips peroxide disappointment..."? And you're accusin' ME of getting worked up! And just for the record, darlin', it's Angel that lurks, also sneaks, slithers, and slinks. Spike and I stalk, like great jungle cats, masters of our domain.

No I think you mean stalks like vultures, preying on the weak or you know the EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE!!!!!

(There's medication that'll help you with that, darlin'. You really oughta try some, what with your new responsibilities an' all...) Oh, and vultures don't stalk, they soar.

Okay, now, let's try a little public poll:

How many of you kind and gentle readers think Buffy and Angel ever in the three seasons before Ol' Broody left the show shared any single kiss that was the equal of that smacker at the end of "Once More With Feeling"? Consider carefully, now, there may be a prize comin' outa this...

You're tryin' to compare a kitchen match to a bonfire, Miss K. Sure, the match bill burn you, but a bonfire...that's DEVASTATION, baby! That's pure Spuffy devastation. Five alarm, call out the whole fire department and send in the National Guard, ain't nothin' on earth gonna contain it, let alone stop it, DEVASTATION!!!

I think your over selling that OMWF kiss a tad WA...it really wasn't that hot, tepid maybe...
