Ok so don't kill me but I still haven't seen Angel season 3 and what I'd like to know is when does Angel find out that Buffy is back and how does he find out?

Yeah it feels a bit weird how little it is mentioned, at the same time it's weird that they mention it at all since Buffy isn't on the show like at all. Hm, ok, I dunno, just a weird thing..

Absolutely. It's like on Angel... hes like... "Buffy" and it's the end of the episode. And then on Buffy...she just runs off to meet him, and then it's the end of the episode.

I think its better that way. they were trying to keep the shows seperate. The more they mention Buffy, the more you forget Angel is its own show as opposed to a ciontinuation of Buffy. It would be like it needed Buffy to succeed.
Plus, with them being on different networks, they had to limit the Buffy tak as much as possible.
Also, the less we know about what happened, the better. This way its left up to our imaginations. If we'd seen what had happened, we may have been disappointed.

well, we kinda got a preview of what happened with Wes and Cordy's little Bangel spoof in 'Fredless'
when Angel comes in and catches the end of that, isn't he just returning from meeting Buffy?

It's because they were on different networks. They were told to say as little about the other show as possible. In the special features it was mentioned about when Buffy dies, the WB didn't want them to mention it, but Joss said no-way, and that it had to be dealt with.
Now if the CW/WB combo would've produced something positive. Gotta love networks right? I'm hoping in 10 years there's 10,000 channels, so I can have all Angel, all the time, with new CG-generated episodes daily, done in real time with good writers, kind of like the Truman SHow, but CG, but good CG...
Angel couldn't go on forever. The ideas would run out and the show would go dry. I don't want that. I'd rather they quit while there ahead. Look what happened to Full House hahaha. That show sucked once they ran out of ideas!

On both "Buffy" and "Angel," there was that little "Buffy's alive" moment, but it just seemed to me that it was just an obligatory scene to be done and gotten out of the way. The Buffy/Angel relationship could have been kept viable even given the seperate networks situation if the writers and Joss had wanted it to remain, and it would have done little if anything to detract from the major plot line of either show.
Did anyone else notice that on Buffy the scene goes like this:
The phone rings.
BUFFY: (gets up) Who's calling me? Everybody I know lives here. (walks toward kitchen) I'll be back.
GILES: Buffy, what is it?
She turns back to face them, pauses for a moment before speaking.
BUFFY: Angel.
GILES: Is he in trouble?
BUFFY: He knows that I'm ...He, he needs to see me. I have to see him.
And on Angel it goes like this:
Cordy comes hurrying out and Angel and Fred turn their heads to look at her.
Cordy: "Angel, Willow's on the phone... She's alive! Buffy's alive!"
So, it's suppose to go Willow phones Angel, then hangs up and lets Angel call Buffy back...seems to me that the writters needed to do a little bit more work on that storyline 🙂
