Where did the Amulet originate?

The amulet was given to Buffy by Angel who got it from WR&H.
Given what it did, do you think it came from WR&H or were they keeping it hidden. Where do you think the Amulet came from?

Really though, I have no idea. I don't think it's ever really stated where it originated from, and it certainly hasn't been explored all that much in the comics. It's implied and shown pretty heavily throughout Angel that Wolfram & Hart have access to a pretty intimidating arsenal of magical weaponry and artifacts. I guess it just came from one of their vaults, and was probably extra-dimensional in origin.

In writing terms though, it was just a way to get Angel into the final episodes of BTVS (which could have easily been done otherwise) and give Joss an out for the uber-vamp problem he'd boxed himself into with no logical exit point.

Given how it worked, I would suspect initially that it was another of those "ancient weapons" that keep popping up, maybe even another weapon created by the Guardians. Given its intended purpose, however (to incinerate the wearer, supposedly Angel, and lock his incorporeal body to the Wolfram & Hart Building) I think that a more realistic source of origin would have to be the Senior Partners themselves, or one of their agents

Now I haven't seen S5 in a few months, but wasn't Spike locked to the amulet itself? (which happened to be locked up inside WR&H)

Both 🙂 He was first locked in the amulet which was then sent to WR&H and once he was released of the amulet, he was locked into the building while being incorporeal.

The whole amulet thing was W&H's plot to have Angel, who they assumed would wear it, locked into the amulet which would then be in their control (exactly how the amulet got from the hellmouth to Angel's office, as near as I can recall, was never actually revealed). Probably part of the plan was that Angel's crew, upon hearing about his death, wouldn't have remained there.

Buffy screwed the whole plot up by sending Angel away and having Spike wear the amulet, which put him in the spot that Angel should have been, and there he probably would have stayed if Lindsey hadn't released him from the spell.

All i all, not one of Wolfram & Hart's greatest master scheme. Maybe they got Willow to set it up for them.

I know that Lindsey was heavily involved in retaining the amulet after Spike had activated it and then restoring Spike to Earth's plain or whatever, but I'm not as certain that he was the one behind it all from the beginning. I mean, as talented and connected as Lindsey is/was, would he really be able to acquire something like?

And also, that also kind of indirectly means that Lindsey McDonald is responsible for saving the world, which is kind of funny😛

That to me puts him out of the running of where it came from.

Funny 😛 The hero of Chosen is Lindsey. I say this from a lot of time, but no one listens to me 😀

Do you think that for Angel, Lilah Morgan is more reliable Lindsey’s? I think not. Angel does not trust the W&H and warns Buffy about the powers of the amulet, Angel does not want her to wear it because he knows that the amulet "It's very powerful and probably very dangerous"
It makes perfect sense that behind the amulet there is Lindsey and not the W&H

ANGEL: Could have been me, Wes. Was supposed to be me.
WESLEY: You're not feeling guilty?
ANGEL: About Spike? (chuckles) He's not... that's not...that's not... Wolfram & Hart gave me the amulet. They must have expected me to use it. And they had to have known it would've done to me what it did to Spike, so—

ANGEL: Doesn't make sense. What are the senior partners playing at?
WESLEY: Maybe there's dissent in their ranks, or maybe there's another player in the game they—and we don't know anything about. Then again, maybe they got exactly what they were after.

It definitely could have been Wolfram and Hart. Remember the whole Jasmine fiasco when Wolfram and Hart sent Angel a fruit basket for preventing her from taking over the world? Why would they want The First to destroy the world? They gave that amulet to Angel so he could prevent the First Evil from carrying on it's plot. They must have expected Angel to wear it tho, which didn't happen.
