Where does Angel get his money from?

(like how can vampires have sex if their hearts don't pump blood).

Or how vampires can bleed without a heart pumping blood around their body. Though I guess that's why drink other people's blood, because they don't have their own. Or at least, they shouldn't, because they kinda need to be alive for their bloods cells to replicate and stuff. And they'd need circulation to send blood to the brain so it could function. And if their brain worked, their heart probably should too. But that's getting too complex, and I guess we're just not meant to think about it. I suppose we could just put it all down to that vampires are mythical, 'magical' creatures. Yes. Let's put it all down to magic. 😀

Everybody, vampires are magical. And Angel uses magic to get his money, too. 😀 (Well, he could.)

Spike, on the other hand, he would totally steal. Even if it was just from bad guys once he became good.

Agreed.

Or how Spike could smoke when he didn't breathe.

As for Buffy running a household on minimum wage, I assumed that she got a raise when she found the secret ingredient. Also, Tara and Willow got student loans for school, I assume, so I figured they helped out with rent and such.

I have no theory for Angel.

Just occurred to me that when we see Angel paying for his blood at the butchers how is he getting hold of money? Does Buffy give it to him?

Oh my god, I just watched that episode last night and was wondering the exact same thing! its very strange and never really explained.

What i liked was how clever Spike was not to let on to The First and the Uber Vamp that he didn't actually breathe when they were trying to drown him. That was some pretty together acting in a high pressure situation ....

As for Angel's money ... he wanders the streets all night staring at the ground, and ... erm .. has special compartments in his pockets so all the change doesn't jangle .... 🙂

like the special compartment in Duncan McLeod's coat where he keeps his sword? :D
This is my theory: maybe when he was still Angelus he stole and robbed a great deal of money then after being given a soul he deposited it in a bank or something. Then he separated from the others and decided to give up luxury like money and left it laying there. After what happened in the flashbacks in LA he goes to Sunnydale and I guess, with a new purpose, you also need means to actualize it and he decided to use his money to find a place, blend in and protect Buffy. It's a weird theory but it could work.

I'd go along with something like this. Maybe he did accumulate some wealth as Angelus, but when he got his soul back he didn't want to live on money that had blood on it. But when he got his purpose in life back maybe he did dip into that wealth again, for the greater good and all. 😉 Where did the wealth go when he went to LA and struggled to pay the bills you say? Probably used most of it up paying rent and wages.

Or, maybe Angel started his Helping the Helpless thing before he went to LA. Maybe his butcher had a little problem with something not so normal in Sunnydale, and Angel fixed the problem for him in exchange for pigs blood.
